First day of rush!
I am using numbers but tomorrow I will tell you which houses I do end up visiting. Today we went to all 11 in no order. Again the sororities were (not in this order though)
Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Epsilon Phi Alpha Phi Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Delta Gamma Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Delta Kappa Kappa Gamma Pi Beta Phi Okay today was my first day of rush here it goes: 1. First house was ------------. These girls were really sweet and I love how friendly they were. I almost felt pressured by a few because the rush chair and girls that I met the day before at the first reception. I liked them but I don’t know if I would want to be a part of their house. 2. We then went to -------- and I had so much fun there. The girls were really nice and I was able to talk to some about cooking and traveling and so forth. Overall I like these girls and want to check them out again to see their sisterhood better. 3. After that we went to --------- and I liked them though it seemed as if every girl was really trying to be an individual. And I don’t know if I really want to be in a sorority that champions itself in being different because I am looking for a traditional place. I am a traditional girl. 4. Then we went to ------- and I don’t like this house. While the girls I talked to seemed fun, something that caught my eye really made me not like them. They had shot glasses on a table next to the entrance to their party room with their GLO’s name on them surrounded by glitter and confetti on the table. I really thought that was a little distasteful from a PNM’s point of view to have shot glasses and other drinking paraphernalia there for show. 5. After that was ---------- and I loved it. I met so many beautiful girls and all of them were really diverse. I loved some because they traveled a ton and that was so neat. They were all really genuine. 6. Granted the first girl I talked to wasn’t very personable, I loved this house. All the other girls were great and I felt at ease with them. They were all from good families and well traveled but I really felt that they truly stand out. 7. Next this house was so great! I felt comfortable there and I didn’t feel like I was trying at all. These girls were great and I really feel like I should get to know them better to get a better feel for their house. 8. This house I didn’t know what to expect because their reputation varies from campus to campus but the girls I met were so fun. One was an Assisteens chairman like me and that was sooooo great because I really was explaining it to a lot of girls but not here. They seemed confident. I don’t know if this house is for me so I need to get a better feel for them. 9. I didn’t like this house. I didn’t feel comfortable and they seemed a little too relaxed. Even though they are supposedly big on campus they really weren’t for me. One girl didn’t talk much because we were two PNM’s with one active and I didn’t like that since all of the other houses were one on one. 10. These girls were very nice and incredibly athletic. I liked them and want to get to know them a little bit more. They seemed really real and I also liked how they had engineering majors at their house. Smart girls. 11. These girls had a lot of perk. At the BBQ the day before I was allowed to meet the rush chair and she was the nicest person ever. The girl I talked to though was very quirky and nice. We had a common friend and a common love for Florence. This girl knew my sister’s close friend really well so that was fun to talk about. They showed a slide show but they yelled and clapped in a small room and danced…it all would have been totally cute if they did it a little softer. It was a little bit too loud. I dropped number’s 4, 9, and 11. I put 11 as my 9th choice but I just didn’t know if the girls were really for me. Like I said I am a traditional girl. Hopefully tomorrow I will get asked back to the ones that I like. I really hope that they liked me! :D |
Sounds like you had fun at most of the parties! Have a great time tomorrow - I can't wait to learn where you return to!

Day #2 update
Second Day
Today I got asked back to 7 and I am sooooo happy with 6 of the 7 that I was asked back to. The max was 8 so I don’t feel left out because I know of girls that were only asked back to 3 or none! In alphabetical order I was asked back to the following houses…I did not visit them in this order: Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Epsilon Phi Alpha Phi Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Gamma Phi Beta Kappa Delta 8. This was my first house and they were super friendly. They had a real cute slide show and I met more girls. I like their sisterhood and I am still keeping my mind open to them. I liked how they had a girl that I talked to yesterday talk to me as well today, that was really great. 7. My second house was soooo cute and nice. I loved the girls that I talked to and they did a skit about there being in ---------------- OZ. It was so cute and I really do love all of the girls that I talked to. I really hope that I get asked back to this house. They are so great! 2. I love this house. I met a girl that was just like me and I felt that we really clicked. Then I talked to a girl with the same name as I and who I also really got along great with. The third one I talked to was also great. I hope I get asked back. 4. These were again my last choice and they did a skit that was “Club-------“. Again they seemed to “party, party, party” for me. I don’t want to come back here. 1. These girls were super friendly and their skit was like a dream sequence. As much as I like the girls I just don’t know if I could be a part of their organization. They are really sweet and I put them in my 5th spot so I will be asked back if I don’t get one of my top four. 11. These girls were nice but again I don’t know if I would really fit in here. 3. This house was different than the day before. I really got along with the girls that I talked to and they seemed truly interested. I really may be starting to like them so I am giving them a second chance. I decided to drop 4, 11, and 1 tonight. I hope that I get asked to at least two of my top four tomorrow. I really do feel connections at 7 and 2. They both have great sisterhood and I love how the girls interact with each other. I hope tomorrow is good. Wish me luck! BTW I was really happy that I did not go back to visit some of the other houses because later that day I saw them act rather unfriendly to particular PNM's so I am happy that I am not going to those. |

Rush Update
Sooo sorry about being so late with this. But the days have been long and we haven't gotten back to the dorms until 11 pm all week. Also classes started on Thursday so I have been busy with homework and such. Things are good though!
Third Day: I know that today is pref but we got back so late last night that I was pooped. Today I visited: Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Epsilon Phi Delta Delta Delta Gamma Phi Beta 11. The first house sang a song that made us all want to cry. I like the girls in this house but I just don’t know how well I would fit in. (Alpha Epsilon Phi) 3. I really like this house. The girls are all genuine and their skit was absolutely darling with little orphan Annie. It seems that every house found a way to make fun of the lemon water that we were served all week long. It was cute. (Alpha Delta Pi) 2. I love this house I really do. Their skit was “------- after Dark” and some of those girls could really sing and dance. I just feel so comfortable in this house. I love it. (Delta Delta Delta) 1. This house again was pressuring me but I didn’t really like that. The rush chair and president came up to me again and girls that I have never talked to were always saying “I’ve heard so much about you”. As much as I like the girls I can’t really see myself in this house. (Gamma Phi Beta) I decided to keep houses 2 and 3 and drop the others. Tomorrow is preference! Preference Night Today I got my preference list and they were my top two: Delta Delta Delta Alpha Delta Pi 2. This house was Tri-Delta and I loved it. For preference I wore a strapless bright blue dress and black heels and full pearls. It was perfect that I wore pearls because the pearl is the new member symbol for tri-delta. I was called to the stairs by the girl that I talked to the first day and that meant a whole lot to me because she had to be the first person to say that she liked me. I love talking to all of the girls there and I was able to talk to two of my favorites. They then gave us each a fake pearl bracelet to wear and we went into their living room and in a circle they sang a nice song to us and had 10 girls in a delta form all saying what the sorority meant to them. Then we all took turns and with the second girls that preffed us we went to the pool of water in the middle of the room and put our pearl bracelet in it making a wish. I really do love this house and I put them as my first choice. They sang the “hmm linger” song as we were all leaving. 3. This house, Alpha Delta Pi, was very pretty except for the fact that they put a pledge pin around your neck. I thought that was a little too much. They greeted us with candles and we all were to blow them out with our pref sister to then make a wish. I was the first called out and that made me feel special. Also their ceremony included candle passing and it was beautiful. All of the girls there were crying and now I can see why so many of my peers rushing want that house as their first choice. I felt that their friendship was great. I ranked them second. I was asked to pref two other houses as well though I didn’t go to their ceremonies. They were Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Epsilon Phi. I just feel more me in Delta Delta Delta. I really really hope that I can get a bid from them. Wish me luck! BTW: On my campus the houses didn't invite everyone back. They all only invited back girls that they wanted to be a part of their sisterhood. Tri Delta and AEPhi all cut girls that did want them. I was a bit taken back from lenaimoon's statements. Everyone here is so pro Greek that there are no better or worse houses, just ones that may or may not fit your personality more. |

Good luck with Tri-Delt on your campus, UCLAGirl!! I wouldn't say that the ones I didn't like were bad in and of themselves, I just know I don't fit there and that I didn't like how they made me feel more like a number than a person. The other houses never really did that. I am a bit familiar with your campus and know that it is very different from mine. A lot of students here are actually anti-greek and even our panhellenic board here has tightened up restrictions, making a lot more events dry and threatening to close down quite a few frats. They are attempting to get rid of midnight madness as well here. I don't want to take away from your sunshine, though. I'm happy for anyone who got the houses they loved. Keep smiling, girlie!!!

Keep Going! Almost there! Alpha Delta Pi !!!!! I am sooooooo happy about this, even though it was my second choice. For Bid Day they all stood on the steps that lead up to their house (it's on a big hill and anyone that knows the house knows that there are tons of steps there), and then we went to a cruise in San Pedro and we were finally fed food!!!! Also I met my diamond sis (Big Sis) and she is the sweetest thing ever. The girls are great and I really like the girls in my pledge class that include my roomate(!) and a good friend that I went to High School with (!). So anyway I just wanted to let you know!!!!!!!! |

The AEPhi song was about all the friendships that were made and how the sisters are always there. I cannot remember the song at this moment but it really did make a ton of girls cry because it was so sweet. THey were all holding arms too...very summer camp sappy like.
On a good note ADPi made quota plus 3. Quota was set at 23 and we have a new pledge class (which I love) of 26! Yay I really am soooo happy here! |

Congratulations on Alpha Delta Pi! I have known many wonderful girls who are members of this sorority. One of the sweetest little old ladies I know is a member of ADPi too from WAY back when!
On a side note - when we do bid matching on our campus, we try to make sure that all girls walk away from the process with bids. At times, some groups do end up with an "extra" two or three girls. We try to give quota additions to smaller chapters first, but also try to make sure that all girls who attend a pref receive a bid to avoid the cross-cuts. Some times it just works out to one chapter's advantage. But we don't know the details here, and for all we know Tri-Delta was the smallest chapter on campus. Regardless, sounds like 23 girls have found a new home in the Greek system. Congrats UCLA girl! |
