I'm with you, breathesgelatin. I couldn't get a tattoo because it involves needles, and needles scare me.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I like seeing a little anchor right above a girls butt on her lower back. That turns me on.

My chapter has called a member of our national headquarters to ask about what was allowed as far as tattoos go. I'm not sure that this is the official opinion of the sorority, but we were told not to get letters, part/all of the crest, part/all of our badge, or anything else that has ritual meaning tattooed on us. We aren't supposed to drink in our letters, so, especially depending on the body part, it'd be hard to hide that. We also aren't supposed to have sex in our letters, which would be pretty difficult to accomplish if you had such a tattoo.
My chapter, however, has family tree mascots, so many of the girls have those tattooed on them, or the sailboat or violet. Most of the fraternity guys around here get their letters tattooed on them, but guys can hide them when they need to, much easier than women can. |
Plus I suspect the rules for mens' fraternities are different. It's not unusual to see a guy at a bar in letters, but I'd be very surprised to see a sorority member drinking in letters.
Forms of respect are different I guess. Anyone have a tattoo/brand and want to post a pic? |
Personally, I would get a tattoo..only if it has strong meaning for me that I will look at it 60 yrs from now..and have fond memories..if that's a glo..so be it.

I did it!
Okay, I know this is an old thread but....I finally did it. Last night, I got a tattoo of my sorority flower (violet/pansy) in a bracelet around my wrist. It has appropriate symbolism related to my org but no actual symbols. It came out really nicely so if I can figure out how to upload a picture, I will post it.
