have a great time! Love Ashley :) |
I'm so excited for you! Will you tell us what chapters you're preffing when you find out?! I'm dying to know!
|
Tonight is pref night!!!! I'm so excited, I don't know how I will sit through all my classes today. I get home from school at 3:30 which leaves me like 90 minutes to get ready. I have to really plan out my time well. I'm wearing a beutiful maroon silk dress with hand embroidered flowers at the bottom. I bought cute new black sandals and fun earings last night. All that's left to do is go and look for the "feeling".
Have a great day and good luck heather and nicole, my fellow badger babes. |
Hey, Madtown Girl! Good luck tonight! I know you're going to be great. Where are you preffing?
|

...I am so upset after reading UWgirl's thread that now I am afraid to read the other wisconsin rush thread...badgerrushee please let us know what is happening -- we need some good news!

Pref Night,
Wow rush had been picture perfect up until last night. It was deffinetly a tough evening. Lots of tears. I didn't get any of my top three houses from second rounds. I was so upset! But there I am all dressed up. Full hair, make up, and nails, and I was going to three houses I thought were not for me. I was very mistaken. As dissappointed as I was entering the evening. I feel that I have found my place. That my pref night was ment to be, and I will end up in the right house. I went to Pi Phi Tri-Delt KATheta #1) I was rather suprised that I was asked back by this house because I never felt a connection here. The house was very classy looking lots of candles and lights. We ate a pound cake like dessert and drank pink lemonade. I liked the girl who rushed me but felt like we would never be close friends. I'd been hearing about a gut feeling that I would get. I didn't get any deep feeling here. #2) This house grew on me. each round I liked it more. The girls are truley diverse. Dessert was a nice mint ice-cream and chocolate creation. It was great! My conversations were very nice. and the ceremony was very moving. I was all teary and all the girls were too. The nicest thing they did, was take a picture of us when we entered and then have it in a slide show at the end, I was so impressed. #3) This house was my first choice from first round and then fell after second because I had a bad expereince. However, I know now that this is the place for me. I was rushed by a girl who rushed me first round and we tottaly get along. We talked about everything. I felt like I'd known her my whole life. Dessert was a berry cake thing. It was yummy. Plus they had a little kite with my name on it. How cute was that! The ceremony was nice and I got the feeling. I talked with my Rho Chis a long time about the decision I was making. I was torn between 2 and 3. I feel like I could be happy at either house. Which is good, because if I don't get a bid from three, I'd still be super happy at 2. My decision was made because my rho chi asked "Is there a girl at one of the houses that you think, even if I don't pledge this house we're still going to be friends?" yes. number three. I feel like it will be a wonderful place for me. Now I just await bid day!! Tommorrow. I'm so excited and feeling like I'm going to be in the perfect place for me. |
Sounds like you have a smart Rho Chi! Pulling for you and wishing you happiness!
|
Badger,
I am so glad you enjoyed pref nite. You have looked at this whole process with a clear head and heart and were willing to give each house a chance. Any house would be happy to have you as a member. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how bid day goes. Greek love, Melissa |
Yay! I was feeling a little wishy-washy before Pref too, but afterwards I was where I wanted to be, for sure! :) I really hope Pi Phi was one of the houses you liked, I would love it if you were my friend's sister, but if not I know you'd be a great addition to any house!
|
I'm glad you kept your mind open, even in a tough situation! Best of luck to you!
|
BadgerRushee, you would be an awesome addition to any of these chapters. All three are incredibly strong national organizations (I'm admittedly biased about one of them, obviously) with a lot to offer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you...:)
|
Sorry, BR, but you gave away the houses to those of us more astute about Greek life.
Anyway, I know which house you ranked first, and I have heard great things about their sisterhood. My big is at grad school in Madison, and she went in not knowing a soul. A couple of grad students from that chapter met her and took her under their wing, and she loves them to death. My big is the nicest girl on earth, and the reason I joined my chapter, so if she has wonderful things to say about them, I am sure they are great girls, and I wish you the best of luck! |
Good Luck!
Well, seeing as how Gamma Phi is not one of your three Pref houses, I guess I am partial to the Thetas with their high-flying kites! My (real) little sister is a Theta!:D
Good Luck and PUH-Leez tell us all as soon as you know ANYTHING!!! |
i see a happy ending...
fingers and toes crossed for you right now....
it sounds like a wonderful ending... hopefully you'll be partying tomorrow night with your new home. lol :D |
Good luck!
I too picked up on your first choice and I must say that all of the women that I know in that particular sorority really are outstanding and phenominal women. I have fingers and toes crossed for you in good luck. I really hope you get the wish you wish for tonight!
|
Oh well, I think I've figured out which one was which :)
Can't wait to hear what happens next, I hope you're happy with your bid day news (and come back to tell us what happened soon!) Christin |
good luck with everything!
|
I think we can all guess who I'm cheering for!!!! I would love to be able to call you sister. But I know you'll go where you feel it's right. Good luck, keep us posted.
PPL, Emily |
No reply yet, so we must figure she's off having a blast at Bid Day with her new sisters.
|
talk to us....
it all sounds so good....
we are holding our breathe. lol :D |
come back!! tell us!!! i cant wait!!!!!!!! :D
|
Sorry to keep you waiting sooo long. I got my first choice Kappa alpha theta. I'm feeling like however this might not really be the house for me. I like my house as a whole but my plege class just seems like girls very different then myself. I know diversity is good, but I feel really hesitant about entering this house. I think that given time this my be a good place for me, but I'm wondering weather or not I sould have choosen a different house. I plan on giving my house the few weeks of pledge process and seeing how it goes. Best of luck to my fellow madtown girls, I hope we are all happy and in the right places. Right now I'm a little confused and sad but I think in the end I'll be alright.
Theta Love BadgerRushee |
Just relax, and take a step back and breathe before you make any decisions. at first, i thought i belonged in another house bc i didn't think i fit in with my diverse new member class. But i ended up making some really good friends in my class and then it became my favorite thing of college! and i love AZD.
|
Honey, I definitely think you should give it some time. I know how you are feeling right now -- I'm so overwhelmed and although I really like these girls there are some reservations I'm having about sorority life. I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm feeling that way, though, is because it's just too much at once! Just keep in mind that it's going to take a while to get comfortable with these girls; it can't all happen at once.
You have a while before you have to make the decision to stick with this or not, so you might as well give it a chance, right? By the way, one of my Rho Chi's, Kristen, is a Theta and she is awesome! |
Congrats! Definitely give it some time - you might have more in common with your pledge sisters than you think. Everyone's emotions are on such a roller coaster during rush that sometimes when you step off, you still have that woozy, I need to barf feeling! :p
Even if you don't turn out to be super close to your pledge sisters, I wouldn't let it stress you out - it's not a law that you can only be close to people in your pledge class, and none of my best friends from my sorority pledged with me. |
right now, just breathe
you've had an incredible roller coaster ride and came out a winner.
i echo everyone else. give it time and see if the feel doesn't get a whole lot better. the organization is enormous, immense and terrific...the reputation in madtown is amazing. just let things happen. play the willow game if that helps -- just bend a bit -- and see if things don't feel better. congrats on your bid. i'm thrilled for you. lol :D |
some of the girls in my pledge class felt that way, too. it didn't take long before they did feel a part of everything! maybe some of the girls are just shy, but as soon as you start spending more time with them, you might be surprised! and as some one else mentioned, you don't only have to be friends with people in your pledge class. as you get to know more of the sisters in your house, you will make lots of friends.
in any case, best of luck to you! have a blast! |
Congrats to you and to Kappa Alpha Theta! I'm just going to echo what everyone else has said...give it some time! Theta was your first choice for a reason...let it all sink in and then decide if it's truly for you. Best of luck!
|
Yes - please give it a little time! Most of my best buddies had gone through a year earlier (I waited till sophmore year to go through recruitment), so I found my place with them! I made some great friends within my pearl class too, but it did take a few weeks to get to know everyone and see how we all fit together as a group! Congratulations and good luck!
|
Congrats! I've heard nothing but great things about Theta at Madtown...
As for the pledge class thing, just give it time...I know I don't particularly love all the girls in my class, but there's some that I do and that's all that matters! :) |
Did ANY of us REALLY like our pledge class right off the bat!;)
My pledge class classics- (I was a flower child of the 70's in my philosophy) The blond- Miss Perfection, a legacy who wanted to breath AXO. Eventually became President. The boobs-Miss I'm so hot I sizzle-wanted to rule the world. She dated a football player and always got the girls dates. The redhead-Miss Giggles-thought Hee Haw was funny. Became the heart of the chapter with her encoragement. The school marm-Teased her hair like it was the 60's, and was so uptight you knew she had never been on a date. Turned out to be the sweetest person in the world who would do anything for anybody. The mouse-Made you wonder if she spoke or understood English. Became rush chairman. The list goes on. Yes we were diverse. Our diversity made us strong! |
Congrats! :)
|
First, congratulations on your bid from Kappa Alpha Theta.
Secondly, please listen to the very astute advice already offered on this board. Remember, all of your pledge class members are new to Theta as well, they're nervous and exhausted after rush, so give them some time. It sounds that you ended up in the right place, give it a chance to work for you. violets |
BadgerRushee,
I know I felt very overwhelmed on my bid day and thought maybe I had made the wrong choice too. I thought that all the new girls were so different from me and we wouldn't click as well as I had clicked with the actives. Well, I learned that the other members of my pledge class were different from me in many ways and that is what made our friendship so great! I got to know girls that I would have never met if I hadn't pledged and they were all so amazing in their own unique ways -- they really helped me to grow and develop into a mature adult. Don't worry... new experiences and friendships can be intimidating at first. But if you stick it out, you'll love it! CONGRATULATIONS!!! |
*bump*
