Prevous Post Written Before New Info Appeared

Carnation, I am sorry to hear about Blazercheer. Perhaps she is just a lil overwhelmed with everything that is going on at the moment (moving in, being a frosh, rush and cheerleading) and will decide to continue recruitment if she is allowed. If not maybe she will try to adjust to school and go through again if they have Spring Recruitment or next year. :D

S_A_I 08-13-2002 07:38 PM

This thread is making me even more excited for rush!! 3 weeks!

Sorry to hear about Blazercheer! Maybe after she sleeps on it, she'll decide to continue! :(

RockChalk 08-13-2002 07:41 PM

Why did Blazercheer drop out? Did she get cut heavily, or did she just decide that Greek life is not for her? Either way, the sororities are missing out.

dzsaigirl 08-13-2002 07:49 PM

Wow. I never considered that one of them would drop out of rush...we don't know the circumstances yet though, so I just hope that she is okay and she had time to think about it before she made the decision. Being a Rho Chi taught me that sometimes people just don't feel right with it or have other reasons for dropping. Sometimes they take snap bids or do informal later and sometimes they just decide it is not for them.

Best of luck to ballerina. I hope that you all are okay with the decision.

whiteroses 08-13-2002 07:54 PM

OH NO! I hope that nothing bad happened to make Blazercheer drop out of rush. Best of luck to Ballerina. I hope that they are both happy at their new school and find the right niche for themselves.:)

kddani 08-13-2002 08:03 PM

OMG- carnation needs to get back on here and let us know what's up!
talk about drama and suspense!

AOIIalum 08-13-2002 08:23 PM

Gosh, carnation, I'm sorry to hear that BlazerCheer has dropped out. I agree with RockChalk, the sororities at Valdosta have lost out on a wonderful young woman. Best of luck to her and to Ballerina, and I hope that both of them and yourself are doing all right.

Fraternally,
Christin

LeslieAGD 08-13-2002 08:46 PM

Carnation, I'm also sad to hear that Blazercheer has dropped out of Recruitment! I hope everthing is okay. What happened?

xo_sue 08-13-2002 09:24 PM

Carnation!
Just started following here and am so excited for your girls to be starting their first year of college! Yeha!

At my school - all the sports were totally against greeks- not a big war- but they'd def. talk you against joining- my dad was told "choose- either TKE or the basketball team"

Do you think the cheerleading squad talked her out of it?

Soooo hope not!

Keep us updated!
Love Sue!

AOIIBrandi 08-13-2002 09:32 PM

Carnation,

I'm so sorry to hear about BlazerCheer. I hope that she will change her mind and that nothing terrible happened to make her decide to drop. She should probably sleep on it if she can, but then you know that as well as the rest of us.

I'm still addicted to hearing about ballerina, so keep it coming :)

UF56 08-13-2002 09:59 PM

The suspense is killing me!!! I hope that blazercheer will change her mind, and that everything is going well for ballerina!!!

GiantsChic 08-13-2002 10:17 PM

I, like everybody else, keep checking this board for updates :) I'm sorry to hear about Blazercheer, but hope everything works out for her... and good luck to Ballerina with the rest of rush :)

TrojanGirl 08-13-2002 10:26 PM

OK, carnation, it's 10:40, so give :D

Has Blazercheer officially dropped out of recruitment, or is she just thinking about doing so? I hope she reconsiders, or considers informal rush.

Best of luck to Ballerina. Maybe she will rush her sister into her new sorority ;)

AGDAlum 08-13-2002 11:13 PM

The pressure must've been awful for BlazerCheer. {{{{Hugs}}}} to her -- and to Ballerina -- and to you!

AG love!

PsychTau 08-13-2002 11:42 PM

I'm sorry to hear about Blazercheer. . .I feel comfortable knowing that you have taught her all of the things to consider regarding dropping out of rush, and that she is making the right decision for her. My thoughts and prayers are with both your girls hoping they find their way.

Please keep us informed!!! I'm enjoying living vicariously through all of this!!!

carnation 08-13-2002 11:58 PM

Ballerina will be returning to ADPi. ChiO, and Phi Mu tomorrow.

orchid2 08-14-2002 12:02 AM

Aaw... Carnation, I'm so sorry to hear about Blazercheer. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ballerina! I'm so glad she's returning to Phi Mu :)

PsychTau 08-14-2002 12:05 AM

Let me tell ya. . .

this thread is better than "Sorority Life"!!!:D :D :D

(Sorry, I just HAD to say it!!):p

Lil_ChiO_Lady 08-14-2002 12:17 AM

I am soo happy for her she is returning to Chi-O...I am also sorry to her about your other daughter, but rush is extremely stressful. It just seems so sudden that she dropped out.I really hope she didn't have a bad experience with any of the groups.

GreekLetterGirl 08-14-2002 12:26 AM

Carnation-
best of luck to Ballerina all of the houses she will be returning to are strong national ones and each house should consider them selves blessed to have her!!! I have a sister who more than anything I wanted to rush at her college but she cheers and when she asked about sororities on her campus to her teammates it was not warmly recieved to say the least, no matter what happens you have raised 2 incredible young ladies that are blessed to have you as a mom...

nwsigkap 08-14-2002 01:20 AM

Carnation-

Sorry to hear about BlazerCheer. One of my best friends in my pledge class is a cheerleader at Northwest, and between practice, cheering at games, and competitions she has hardly any spare time! She has to miss chapter meetings every week because it is during cheerleading practice, and several other events. She makes it to everything she can though, and always finds time to hang out with us on the weekend.;) It's hard, but she manages. I would say cheerleading is definetly one of the most time consuming college sports, because you cheer at games during the fall and winter, and then have national competition during the spring (and if you're like my friend you run cheer camps all summer)...there is no offseason! So IF (and I guess we're all speculating here) that was the reason BlazerCheer dropped I can understand why, and hope that she considers recruitment again next year after being settled in for a year. Best of luck to Ballerina, she has three great groups to choose from!

justamom 08-14-2002 06:36 AM

Give a hug to Balerina, it's getting down to the wire.

Tell Blazercheer I may just have to get a "DISH"...Would I be able to see her cheer??? Did you get season tickets???

maggieaxid 08-14-2002 09:16 AM

Carnation,
hope everything is alright with blazercheer. maybe greeklife isn't for her right now. as for ballerina, good luck to her. the houses she is going back to are strong national houses! And I hope she will be happy where ever her heart leads her.

OUlioness01 08-14-2002 09:24 AM

I'm so sorry to hear about Blazercheer dropping out, but it would have been worse for her to join a sorority without her heart being in it. Maybe she will change her mind at a later point.
I'm also so excited to hear that Ballerina is going back to Phi Mu! I can't wait to find out where she finally goes!

shadokat 08-14-2002 10:08 AM

Best of luck to Ballerine with her next round! She made some great choices :) And for Blazercheer, well, you do what you gotta do girl, and if you made the right decision for yourself, then keep your chin held high! I hope that you didn't have anything bad happen!

ZTAMiami 08-14-2002 10:52 AM

Carnation,
How are you holding up?
Blazercheer, I'm sure you made the right decision for you. If you change your mind theres always next year.
Good luck Ballerina! Can't wait to find out where you go! :D

DeltaBetaAGD 08-14-2002 12:31 PM

I am so sad to hear that Blazercheer has decided to drop out. That is too bad...maybe she will find a sorority through COB after formal recruitment. This is always an option for those who are really active in other areas of school.

As for Ballerina - cannot wait to hear how today went!!!

ChiOJenn78 08-14-2002 01:19 PM

I am so sorry to hear that BlazerCheer dropped out! However, she must have had a good reason-only she knows for sure-and I hope she's doing alright-and that maybe she'd consider Greek life again?? Hugs to her....

Congrats to Ballerina on going back to Chi-O!! Woo hoo!! But I don't mean to forget about ADPi or Phi Mu, because both are excellent groups as well!!

Like everyone else has said, I am so addicted to this thread!! :p :D

violets 08-14-2002 04:13 PM

Carnation:

Blazercheer is following on her own path, and it's wonderful that she has supportive parent like yourself to guide her through it all. I'm sure she's going to have a wonderful experience at Valdosta. As other posters have commented, cheering is an intense, time consuming and fun sport and she'll have a built-in support group of other cheerleaders throughout the school year.

I'm glad to hear that Ballerina is continuing to go through recruitment. It's great that you've raised them to know their own hearts and minds and be able to make their own choices despite the closeness they feel as sisters. Ballerina has great houses to go back so I'm sure she'll have a great time at the next event.

You're all in my thoughts.
God bless.

RockChalk 08-14-2002 07:14 PM

When does Ballerina find out where she'll be going for Prefs?

Lil_ChiO_Lady 08-14-2002 08:08 PM

Anything yet?

I am starting to get anxious...aren't the parties over for the day?....Where are you Carnation??? I am soo curious to know who Ballerina is going to be attending tomorrow for pref.My computer is starting to hate me cause I keep refreshing the page,lol...I'm seriously starting to have a problem here:eek:

LeslieAGD 08-14-2002 08:29 PM

I hope Ballerina enjoyed today's parties!

Carnation, does Blazercheer have any interest in COB or has she changed her mind about Greek Life entirely? Hope she's having fun with all her other activities!

CutiePie2000 08-14-2002 08:49 PM

This is so exciting...I can't wait to hear more about Ballerina! I also hope that BlazerCheer is at peace with what has happened so far..... :)

carnation 08-14-2002 09:13 PM

Ballerina just called and will be going to prefs at Chi Omega and Phi Mu tomorrow night.

Aphigal 08-14-2002 09:15 PM

Carnation

What a wonderful and amazing Mom you must be to raise two daughters who can be the same age but yet be strong enough to make their own choices, decide their own paths.

After all the most important "letters" these two girls will wear are the ones that spell out "Daughter"

:)

aprilxo 08-14-2002 09:17 PM

Yay!

Yeah, I know I'm slightly biased but I really do know that whether she ends up with Chi O or Phi Mu, she'll be surrounded by great girls! Or even if she decided not to join at all, I'm sure she'll make the right decision!

Best of Luck!

April :)

PS: I LOVE this stuff! This makes me SO excited for our own Recruitment which starts the 23rd--I can't wait to meet all the new girls!!!

RockChalk 08-14-2002 09:18 PM

I'm so excited for Ballerina! She can't go wrong with either of those houses!

I'm also proud of Blazercheer, because unlike a lot of non-Greeks I know, she actually gave Greek life a chance. She made up her mind about this based on actual experience rather than stereotypes, and that is very commendable.

PhiMuLady150 08-14-2002 09:50 PM

:)

Good Job Ballerina!

And high five to a GREAT mom!
