My sister crossed Zeta in the Spring of 1993 and myself in Spring of 2000.:D

nhpgator 12-15-2003 02:51 PM

Both of my siblings are greek!!

My younger sister is an AOII also, she was initiated at the same chapter I was in. I think she had a lot of pressure - not from me but from everyone who knew me - even in other chapters - everyone just assumed she was going AOII - I'm really glad she did and probably would have killed her if she hadn't but I wish she really would have felt more like she had a choice - although it has worked out great - our grandmother was an AOII, and just this month, my sister and I were able to witness our mother initiated as an AOII!! that was awesome - i figure now i can haze my mom !!!

My daughter will now be a 4th generation legacy (plus an auntwho is an AOII too) - she already has an AOII bib and jumper - no pressure!! She was born the night of our convention's formal dinner - she was late and made me miss convention - but i was excused as they decided having a little legacy was a good enough reason to miss - and her middle name is Rose as she was born during the middle of Rose Banquet - everyone was glad i stayed home as i was supposed to be song leader and that might have been a little too much excitement for the evening - THe XB and some past officers think i planned it on purpose so the little legacy would feel extra special! I'll feel bad for the sister who has to rush her when that day comes in like 17.5 years!!!

well that is off the subject - but additionally my brother is Delta Tau Delta and i love his brothers - they are very sweet and polite around me (even during the UF vs FSU game!)- but they also know how to have a good time!!!

I like sharing that bond with them!

We have some similar personality traits, but were very different otherwise.

honeychile We did too! (only I think ours was only a 4-generation leg. She said somewhere a few cousins had gone Pi Phi and were practically disowned! ;)). She was a sweetheart, but I think she felt very pushed into Kappa. I was one of the girls who talked to her at Pref night (because noone else wanted to--they were scared) and she later confessed that I was the reason she joined! *tear* She stayed in all four years, and now her younger sister is a Kappa at our chapter, too! :)

I'm so glad that it worked out for y'all!! I will always feel bad about the sister I'd rather not name. She just really didn't want to be a greek, and she was so forced into it!

I was really excited when my sister decided to join a sorority. I never pushed her to join mine, but I did encourage her to consider joining a sorority--find the one that best fits her. I was so excited when she chose Alpha Xi Delta. I love being able to share it with her. Sometimes it gets hard having my biological sister in the same chapter because I am a senior and have done everything... and she is just learining everything...sometimes I will be advising her and teaching her as a older sister of AXID and she has taken it that I'm just being a pushy biological sister. I am so happy that my sister chose to join my sorority-- I hope that she will one day get as much out of Alpha Xi Delta that I have.

two of my little sisters are seniors this year!
One says she doesn't think she wants to rush as a freshman (she's gonna be a d-1 athlete and wants to make sure she'll have time)
and the other is either going to iu or to my school, at iu she is a legacy twice, AXD and DZ,
but i do really want her to come to my school, I would love to have my sister in my chapter! I know she'll be good for any chapter so where ever she fits i'll be happy for her!

Hey ISUKappa, I had a funny story from last year's recruitment. There were two girls who were first cousins who rushed. Both of their older sisters were in the chapter (one was president) and both of their mothers were in that same chapter. (Our Kappa chapter) I THINK maybe their grandma was too. So basically these girls were like quadruple in house legacies. I think they were kinda embarassed (not in a bad way though if that makes sense though) bc EVERYONE knew who they were and were kinda like, so are you excited about being a Kappa? You know? (well, not exactly like that, but you know waht i mean) Pretty crazy. They both joined KKG of course and I'm pretty sure they both love it. I want to make this kind of legacy someday. I want my great great grandaughter to be initiated at Grand Convention someday because she is a however many generation that is is legacy. : ) Just my random thoughts for the day!

I might know her, then LOL :) I am still at Iowa State, and I know couple Kappas
Side note: Do you know that Kappa hired our former cook? She was good, I missed her food :(

SigmaAPhi 12-15-2003 09:22 PM

I'm an Alpha Phi at the University of Washington and I have two younger brothers (they're twins). One became a Sigma Chi and the other a Theta Chi, both are outstanding chapters here. I might have helped them out just a little bit during recruitment, but they're both having the time of their lives!

ISUKappa 12-15-2003 11:03 PM

ADPIZXAlum That's crazy! I'm glad they're happy there, though! When I was in school our Chapter Adviser would sometimes bring her two little daughters over to the house. They would just walk around, hang out, and sing Kappa songs! (their mother used to sing old rush songs to them at night). They were so cute. I want at least one little girl someday! :)

queequek Her name is Lindsay Q. Her sister was Kristin, they're from WI. That's kind of funny about your cook. The one we had my first 3 years in the house was awesome, but when our house mom left for a year, she left too.

I'm not Greek, and I don't have any brothers...and I've never met my sister :(. However, my cousin is a member of Delta Sigma Theta. I never knew she was Greek until she wore a jacket home for the holidays w/ her letters on it. Delta must be happy to have her because she is one of the sweetest people on earth.

My sis is 15 (10 years younger than myself) and is planning on going to either UT (Tenn), Auburn, or USC (South Car.)... She has her heart set on being a ZTA. If she is dropped from ZTA, then I'll be happy as long as she goes Greek.:D

sairose 12-17-2003 02:46 AM

nope I'm the only Greek in my family. :(

XOAlumXO 12-17-2003 02:41 PM

My younger brother is a Lambda Chi Alpha at UCF. I hung out with the Lambda Chi's years before my brother started college. (We're 3 years apart). So, when he moved to Orlando, he started hanging out with me and the Lambda Chi's and pledged his freshman year. :)

AXORissa 12-17-2003 07:53 PM

i think i've said this elsewhere, but one sister is a Theta, and the other is a DPhiE. The little one just was initiated, so I cant wait until she comes home for winter break so I can hear her stories!

<hjack>

my mom is jealous she never got to be in a sorority! she went to Brooklyn college during that span when they weren't allowed on campus. She lives vicariously through us.

and I really think the sorority bond is stronger than regular friendships-- she barely talks to her friends from college anymore, while I KNOW i will always be friends with mine, because they're my sisters!

</hjack> sorry! :)

Biological Greek Siblings--I've got you all beat!

What up? As far as Biological Greek Siblings go, I'm doing pretty well. I'm one of a set of quadruplets, and me and my 3 bros are all Pikes (Pi Kappa Alpha) at Arkansas State University and we all pledged together. And my sister is an Alpha Gamma Delta alumni here. My parents are both Greek, too- Dad's a Pike also, and my Mom is an AOPi.

holla

Bless your mother's heart but I know that an AOII can handle anything.

ADPiViolets 12-18-2003 03:57 AM

My little sister just joined ADPi!!! I'm so happy she did! It's so great to share this with her! :) :) :)

Paradise359 12-18-2003 09:25 AM

My younger sister is a member of DST

As far a as my immediate fam:

Mother-Zeta Phi Beta
Father- Phi Beta Sigma

:D

OleMissGlitter 12-18-2003 10:56 AM

My younger sister is an AOII with me at Nu Beta Chapter. I told her to do whatever her heart told her to do since I was alumna already. However, she picked AOII and so did most of her friends. I think her staying with me when she would visit in highschool helped and plus she had come up two times with my parents to help decorate and get the house ready for rush.

My mom was not in a sorority at LSU but she is going to finally do AI of AOII this Spring 2004. My father was a Delta Tau Delta at LSU and his father was a DTD at Tulane and his father at Tulane as well. My great-grandmother (grandmother of my father's mother) was an AOII, initiated 1924, at UT Knoxville and her husband was a Phi Gamma Delta at UTK and my dad's mother was an AOII at Tulane. My dad's grandmother, my great-grandmother, was a Kappa Alpha Theta at Tulane, initiated in 1919, and her sister was a Theta there too, initiated in 1921. My dad's two sister's were Kappa Kappa Gamma's at LSU. My cousin is a DEKE at Bama. Oh and my great-great uncle was a Delta Upsilon at Carnegie-Mellon (I think that is the name of the college) back in the early 1930s.

hottytoddy 12-19-2003 12:40 AM

Well let's see my sister was a DG at U of Tennessee..
when I went through she wanted me to do whatever I wanted because she was already an alum and she went to a different school anyway...

my mom was a ZTA & they no longer have a chapter at Ole Miss'
My grandmother was both an ADPi and a KD...YES!! She was initiated into both!!! She pledged KD at some school in IL and was initiated...then transferred to UK and went ADPi..she said no one ever asked so she never told the ADPi people that she was once a KD!! I thought that was sooo funny!!! We told her she couldn't do that & she said..."Well, I did!" She is a riot!

I have cousin's that were Chi O's, Alpha Chi Omegas, and ZTA's..

All the men in my family were ATO's dad...uncle...cousins.

That's it for me, I think!
