I've heard this ZTA version of 'Madness' before:

We call it fun but you might call it madness,
So stay here with us and you'll forget your sadness.
We're the crown, shield and pearls,
We're the true-hearted girls,
And when we are gone you will remember our song...

We are the Zeta Tau Alpha, Zeta Tau Alpha, Zeta Tau Alpha
GIRLS!

(then repeat a million times!!) :)

Oh, that reminds me of the Gamma Phi Beta rush song --

We are the girls who really are amazing
With our spirit and pep we'll drive you plum crazy
With our crescent and pearls
We are true hearted girls
And after we're gone you'll remember our song
Gamma Phi Beta
Gamma Phi Beta
Gamma Phi Beta
Gam, oh!

We are the girls...
(also repeat a million times)
:)

i have never heard the pep-smile song! I think it sounds super cute.... This is a hard question to answer but how does the beat go? We also sing "Pass it On" but thats my favorite song!!

I've had friends from other chapters at other schools start spontaneously singing

Delta, Delta Gamma, I'm so happy that I am a
Delta, Delta Gamma with my sidekick, a little Hannah
When you see a DG walkin'
You will hear the others talkin'
How that wish that they could be
Just like me, a little DG

I think that one is universal. We do Hey Look Us Over, but not Pass It On (thank goodness) but I've heard Pass it on plenty of times from friends.

Without a doubt, the most annoying rush song is Phi Mu's.
The Phi Mus at Oklahoma State have a song that everyone remembers and no one knows why. It's cute but not particularly easy to remember.

Are you a Phi Mu? Yes I'm a Phi Mu
For those three bright stars are beckoning me.
I'm glad to meet you, I'm glad to greet you
and pledge a fraternity
Whether your from Mississippi, Oklahoma, Caroline
North or South or West of the Mason-Dixon Line
Then you're a Phi Mu Hooray for Phi Mu
for I'm a Phi Mu too

I regretted them after the second day but I already could have sang their entrance song with them.

KappaStargirl 12-19-2001 12:37 AM

My only question is: how do you know what the songs sound like without the music (unless we include the rhythm and solfege in the post?)

Kappa has an official songbook, and I think it's going to be posted on the web soon...hmm, I should look into that.

For anyone interested in learning NON-rush dirty/drinking songs: There's a book out called The Erotic Muse which lists tons of dirty frat, sorority, and college songs. In some, different names of sororities or frats can be substituted. Some college libraries may have it, it's also owned by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Music and Art Dept. It's very funny...I came from a Kappa chapter that loved to sing, we stole a few from the book

Two popular Kappa Rush songs:

to the tune of "The Ash Grove"

On the heart of each sister lies one key that binds us
A badge that reminds us of fraternity days
Down deep there's a friendship that needs no concealing
Our hearts it's revealing in so many ways
It is here that we treasure each day with new pleasure
Our friendships outlasting our collegehood days
And in the years after, with tears or with laughter
We'll always remember our dear Kappa days

to the tune of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

We are Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Kappa Gamma girls are we
We know, everywhere we go
We'll always wear the letters KKG
High, low, everywhere we go on Kappa Gamma we'll depend
We are Kappa Kappa Gamma, we're sisters to the end
We are Kappa Kappa Gamma, we're sisters to the
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Kappa Gamma to the end

Yes. I was a music major in college (percussion, but I also sing and play the piano a little), and initiated my freshman year.

About the middle of my junior year, though, I realized I didn't want a career in music, so I finished my degree and applied to library school and the rest is history.

AXO ALUM -

Are you from Illinois? We sing "my sister and your sister proudly wear the lyre ...." during rush and it's called "IKO".

UofIL AXO 12-19-2001 04:36 PM
