I've never heard of any SAI's getting tattoos...I don't think we have a policy against it though.

a girl in our sorority has our letters tattooed on her ankle, and they look awful because she got it done at some shithole parlor and they got messed up the day she did it or something...anyway, not many people in the sorority like it and it makes us look kinda bad because this one chic has messed up letters on her foot....what a way to impress huh?

i was insanely scared for my first tattoo, i was only 17 and its BIG.. maybe 7.5 inches long and 3 tall... also its on my lower back which isn't a good spot because it goes over your spine.. after that i got a tiny tiny one little M which wasn't *TOO* painful... then the letters i got on my hip weren't bad while coloring in.. the outline sucked though. outlines are usually worse because they use different needle and speed. the tongue hurt. i'm not gonna lie.. but glyoxide helped alot, and so did listerine, although listerine DOES sting and glyoxide tastes like blood. navel was cake. not painful. http://www.translucent-love.com/rebel.html those are pictures of my tattoos and piercings |
lol...you think glyoxide tastes like blood?? how do u figure?? i thought it tasted like peroxide!

Several of our girls either had tattoos or got tattoos while attending college, but I only know of one sister who got an Alpha Gam (or related) tattoo. It was small and tasteful, and she had it put on the inner part of her ankle. She could cover it up with a bandaid or sock if needed. I believe it was our letters with red and buff roses and a flower lei draped across the letters. We, the collegians, all liked it, but a bunch of the alumnae advisors at the time didn't approve.
I remember an IHQ consultant and alumnae having a problem with one of my pledge sisters having nose and belly rings, but piercings seem to be more popular and less of "an issue" these days. A bunch of guys from my husband's pledge class decided to brand themselves with their letters (SigEp.) The boys were a bit on the extreme side. If I'm not mistaken, these same fellows decided that they should wear their pledge pins in the shower (pinned to their skin) because they were instructed to wear their pins at all times during their pledge period. Thankfully, my husband did neither. |
haha maybei only thought it tasted like blood cuz my tongue was bleeding? it just seemed that when i put it in i tasted blood.. coulda been it cleaning out the ick though lol... i'm crazy sometimes.:D

I've heard of DTD at schools getting branded during pledge period, which sucks if you later decided you want out...but I guess if you love it that much! Has anyone heard of branding being risky for health??
|
When Delta Sig at San Diego State was kicked out in 98 for hazing, one of the allegations was that the pledges had their pledge pins branded on them.........
|
Chose to brand themselves with their pledge pins or were required to?
|
JMUduke- YES branding can be VERY dangerous to health. at my school a phi kap almost lost his leg because of infection after being branded.. he chose to brand himself while drunk with a *colored* coat hanger. ouch... as it started to heal he didn't take care of it and had to spend a weekend in the hospital on constant IV antibiotic drip. a couple days later an dit would have to be amputated.. be careful!!!!!!

if you feel the need to brand yourself then go to a professionel, like a tattoo parlor. This isn't Suburbia, you're not the rejected.

I'm just going through the old tattoo threads because I'm looking to get my third tattoo as soon as I get Paid (which is soon...yay). Anyhow, I am still deciding what symbol I wanted to get and I was thinking the Chinese (Kanji) symbol for sister or sisterhood. However, I can't seem to find a picture. I was wondering if you had a picture of what this symbol looked like. I'm not trying to copy your sisters or anything, but it is something I was thinking about. I just would like to see the symbol, but I'm 95% sure I'll be getting the Kanji symbol for angel (Pi Phi's unofficial symbol). Thanks. Emily |
i met an older phi sig
and she had the coolest GLO tatoo it was our sorority flower. . .the american beauty rose it was intertwined through her toes with the vines ending on her pinkie toe the head of the rose was hanging off her big toe slightly it looks great and mad sexy |
my roommate is a very deticated brother of kappa kappa psi (band service fraternity) and she got a blue and white (kkpsi colors) trebble clef intertwined with a pink rose (her fav flower) on her lower back. it's only about thee inches by an inch and a half, and it actually looks really good. those who know her know what it stands for, but it doesnt scream out KKPsi. i would love to get a small pink rose (azd flower) on my back, but i dont think i could stand the pain :(

I have the design for my 5-pointed crown already but I just need the guts and the money to do it. I doesn't scream ZTA and most people will think it's just a crown, except for those of us who are privileged enough to know what it stands for :)

I love dolphins, so I have a dolphin wearing a crown on my hip. It combines two of my favorite things...ZTA and dolphins. My big sis and I were tattooed together while at ZTA's centennial convention in 1998!

I have a tatoo, but not of my sorority. I would like to get one, though I'd never be able to decide which symbol to have.

when I joined DZ one of the first things we were told was no tattos of letters. We have a very strict alcohol policy with our letters, you cant drink or see alcohol with letters anywhere on your body, including rings, and necklaces, so we were told if we got a tattoo with letters we could never be near alcohol. A few sisters have pink and green turtles tattooed on themselves though

I actually have one on my left leg....I got it my sophomore year. It is about 4/5 inches tall and is the crest of the coat of arms for Phi Delta Theta, with the fraternity name written in an arch over the arm and javelin....the writing actually begins at the middle of my shin and goes all the way back to the middle of my calf. Originally I wanted it very small, but the guy drew it on...and I figured...what the heck....so I went with it.
The tattoo has a lot of symbolism for me (obviosly) and I got it in honor of my brothers who really stuck by me and got me through a difficult time in college. One of my other brothers, whom I was close with, got two other portions of the coat of arms on his arm. He has the helmet of armor with a sword going behind it...that can be found on our coat of arms. |
