Ivy League Schools
California (Stanford, USC, etc.)
Southern Schools (Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia)

But I don't want much :D

I second all of those recharters. When I was in college, we visited the Gamma chapter many times. They had a beautiful house.
I'll add I'd like to see us recharter at other New York schools and expand beyond the Northeast into California and the South. We're not asking too much. :)

butterfly2001nc 06-28-2002 03:45 PM

I would love to Theta Nu Xi grow and then grow some more. We currently have 9 chapters and 2 colonies. I am hoping tthat we expand more up north and on the west coast.

SATX*APhi 06-28-2002 04:18 PM

In the US:
(There aren't any A-Phi chapters in any of these states)

Hawaii
Louisiana
Nevada
(Those are my top 3 need-to-haves)

Alabama
Alaska
Arkansas
Connecticut
Georgia
Kentucky
Mississippi
New Mexico
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vermont
Wyoming

In Canada:
(Don't know much about Canada, so I am not sure if there are univresities in each of these provinces, but none of these provinces have an A-Phi chapter)

Alberta
New Brunswick
Newfoundland
Northwest Territories
Nova Scotia
Nunavut
Prince Edward Island
Saskatchewan
Yukon

They were at UCF a while back. I'm not sure why they left.

Tom Earp 06-28-2002 04:46 PM

OH YE of little mindedness!

I wish that we could all grow and prosper in not only the Chapters that were taken off of campuses but meany more added by each and everyone of us so as to make the Greek Org system even stronger! We need each other and will prosper! Gawed I hope!!:)

Bless us all Tiny Greek Tim!:D

ilovemyglo 06-28-2002 04:58 PM

I would love to see Alpha at Syracuse first and then one at the University of Louisville since that is where I am from!

Kevin 06-28-2002 05:04 PM

It'll never happen... But I'd most like to see VMI become open again to fraternities. That's where our Alpha chapter has been dormant for quite some time.

They do have enough respect to allow us to visit and they help to maintain some of our (and ATO's) memorials there.

babysquirrelnmc 06-28-2002 06:16 PM

Alpha Gams should be everywhere!! But I agree with ilovemyglo, i'd like to see it at syracuse. Also at UNC chapel Hill.

queequek 06-28-2002 08:13 PM

Wow .. amazing on how many people would like to see their chapters at Stanford University. Do you guys have a small Greek community there?

I guess we take Eta Deut for granted ... ;)

SATX*APhi 06-28-2002 10:41 PM

CutiePie2000

Thanks a bunch for laying that out for me! :) I really appreciate it!

APhi 06-28-2002 10:46 PM

Yeah, I'm very proud of Alpha Phi's representation in Canada. The state I think we NEED more chapters is Florida. We have two there but they're both at small schools where they're the only or one of two NPC orgs on campus. For a sorority of our size it's almost embarrasing that we're not represented at any of the major universities, Florida, Florida State, UNF, UCF... anything!

We're also barely represented in any of the deep south but I'm sure that's a problem that just builds on itself as years go by... :(

I'd also really like to see the chapters recolonized at Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado State.

You read my mind ;) With my sister going to UMD, I would LOVE to see DZ there :) Rush isn't until second semester for freshmen, so there's still a chance! lol ;)

Stanford has the following fraternities and sororities:

Phi Kappa Psi (housed)
Sigma Chi (housed)
Sigma Alpha Epsilon (housed)
Theta Delta Chi (housed)
Sigma Nu (housed 2003)
Sigma Phi Epsilon (unhoused)
Kappa Alpha (housed)
Kappa Sigma (housed)
Delta Kappa Epsilon (Currently inactive)
Phi Delta Theta (Currently inactive)
Delta Tau Delta (Currently inactive)
Theta Xi (Currently inactive)
Delta Upsilon (Currently inactive)
Zeta Psi (Currently inactive)
Alpha Delta Phi (Currently inactive)

Sororities:
Delta Delta Delta (housed)
Kappa Alpha Theta (housed)
Pi Beta Phi (unhoused)
Kappa Kappa Gamma (unhoused)
Alpha Chi Omega (unhoused)
Delta Gamma (Currently inactive)
Alpha Phi (Currently inactive)

BGLO's:
Alpha Phi Alpha (unhoused)
Kappa Alpha Psi (unhoused)
Omega Psi Phi (unhoused)
Delta Sigma Theta (unhoused)
Alpha Kappa Alpha (unhoused)

Stanford used to be a really big greek school, but since the 1980's, due to issues with alcohol, low interest in rushing, and a not very greek supportive Residental Education department, groups have been forced to leave. And unfortunately, once a group leaves for whatever reason, it is almost impossible to get reinstated back on campus.

:(

Hi FuzzieAlum,
I just wanted to say that Phi Sigma Sigma has chapters at Portland State University and Linfield College (McMinnville, OR). Unfortunately on the West Coast we only have a total of 10 chapters, the two I just mentioned and then in California at Chapman University, Woodbury University, University of LaVerne, CSU Sacramento, CSU Stanislaus, CSU Bakersfield, San Francisco State, and my personal favorite CSU Dominguez Hills (GO Toros).
I'd love to see us recolonize UCLA, USC, CSU Northridge, since they are all close to CSU Dominguez Hills and we'd probably help with the recolonization effort. It would also be great to recolonize at Berkley.
We have a sister that is transfering to U of Hawaii - Manoa and it be great if she could start a chapter there. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing us at UNLV and University of Arizona.
Oh and I can't forget every Phi Sigs dream, to recolonize our Alpha Chapter at Hunter College, NY.
Carolyn

I wanted to let you know that Nunavut, Yukon and Northwest Territories are territories, not provinces. Those 3 territories have no "Premier" (i.e. it's like your State Governor)....but all 10 provinces do have a Premier.

Alberta:At U of Alberta: DG, KAT, PiPhi, AGD and a closed DDD chapter. At U of Calgary: AGD and AOII
New Brunswick:No Greeks, period, except for a Zeta Psi colony (and that was in 2000)
Newfoundland:No Greeks, period.
Northwest Territories:No universities here. Maybe the community colleges can confer degrees, but I don't know for sure.
Nova Scotia: AGD and some locals: IBX (SisterPlum's org) and OmegaII
Nunavut:No universities here. Maybe the community colleges can confer degrees, but I don't know for sure.
Prince Edward Island:No Greeks here period.
Saskatchewan:No Greeks here period. I think they had a local here in the 1950's or something & it was called Pente Kai Deka.
Yukon:No universities here. Maybe the community colleges can confer degrees, but I don't know for sure.

Sorry that I don't know much about Canadian Geography but I just wanted to say that Phi Sigma Sigma has chapters at University of Windsor and at Carleton University in Ottawa.

OnePlus69Is70 06-29-2002 10:26 PM

I'd like to see a new OD chapter.....anywhere! :) We're a local, but we've thought about expansion, just never gotten around to it. Someday. A Beta chapter would be interesting.

SDTSarah 06-23-2003 02:19 AM

I would LOVE to see chapters of SDT in the South and West. Actually, I'd love to see more chapters, PERIOD.

(Yeah, I know this is old, but I likr bringing things back to life :D)

uwgirl 06-23-2003 03:03 AM

I'm a Chi-O at UW-Madison and we only have two other chapters in WI (at Carroll and Carthage Colleges), so I would love to see more chapters of Chi Omega in Wisconsin. Also, I think it'd be interesting to see us expand internationally...I've only been in XO for a semester so I don't know, has this been talked about?

GMUBunny 06-23-2003 03:30 AM

I'm too lazy to read through the whole thing to see if any other Zetas posted, but I'd like to see us reopen our canadian chapter(s). Also, having Zeta at the big Ivy League schools would be cool.

tinydancer 06-23-2003 09:19 AM

At the University of Texas, there used to be Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Mu, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Delta Zeta. I wish these groups could re-colonize there. Some were VERY old chapters, like from the 1930s and 1940s. It looks like a school the size of UT could support another sorority or two. Yes, I know it is much harder than you'd think.

rosejoy 06-23-2003 10:50 AM

I would love to see more AOPi's in North Carolina.

AOPi Brandi, there are three NC chapters: Elon, Duke, and East Carolina University. We never have been closed down at ECU. I don't know why everyone out of state thinks we are gone...we are still going strong.

I would love also to see more choices come to ECU, like maybe DG.

Sistermadly 06-23-2003 11:48 AM

I'd love to se A Phi re-open its chapter at Georgia State University. It closed in the late 60s. I'd also love to see us charter a chapter at UGA, Georgia Southern, or the State U of West Georgia.

I'd also like to see Alpha Phi (and other NPC/NIC orgs) charter chapters at historically black colleges. Lambda Chi Alpha did this, and I just think it's so cool that they took a different view of expansion. It would ROCK to have an Alpha Phi chapter at Spelman...

astroAPhi 06-23-2003 11:55 AM

I would like to see Alpha Phi colonize or re-colonize anywhere in Florida. The only other chapter anywhere near us is Barry University, in Miami, and other than that, there's almost no Alpha Phi chapters in the south. :(

I'd like to be able to go visit some sisters more often.

I might be wrong, but isn't Eastern WA Univ a state school? We have a chapter there (zeta alpha) and I believe there are 4 other NPC's there as well. But I do agree that there are a LOT of schools that are greek-less. We have a couple of inactive chapters from Idaho.

Columbia

I heard that some girls were interested in my sorority at Columbia, and I agree that Theta Nu Xi needs to spread ONE luv there. Another place would be Penn State, everyone knows they need a little more diversity there anyway. ;) :D

Really? I didn't know there was interest at Columbia. That would be cool. I would like Theta Nu Xi to expand at SEC schools (LSU,Bama ect) Big 10 schools, and out West

sigtau305 06-23-2003 12:52 PM

for me , I really love to see the Delta Mu Chapter of Sig-Tau come back to the University of Akron as well as Chapters at Point Park College and Pittsburgh-Johnstown in PA. Maybe even colonizing a chapter At Baldwin-Wallace. that would be so cool.

shadokat 06-23-2003 03:37 PM

D Phi E also once had a chapter at UT. It'd be a fun place to go back, as our convention is in San Antonio this year and we have lots of alums...*sigh*

trisigmaAtl 06-23-2003 06:29 PM

I would like to see tri sigma at larger schools, or at least another chapter in Ga. I feel like no one around here has ever heard of us, people in Ga are sometimes like: "tri-what? oh, so you must be a local (not that anythings wrong with that)" I have to reply with: "no, we have over 100 chapters...just none around here". I want the people of GA to know thw awesomness that is Sigma Three!!!!

butterfly2001nc 06-23-2003 06:37 PM

tnx out west

i would like to see Theta Nu Xi in California!!! :)

LeslieAGD 06-23-2003 07:34 PM

For purely selfish reasons, I'd like to see AGD colonize at Oakland University (MI). It's very close to my hometown and therefore I could be more involved with the sorority.

Pi Kapp 142 06-23-2003 07:38 PM

San Jose State, which might happen, my little brother is going there this fall. Also, would like to see a chapter at Stanford and Santa Clara. Those are all real close to my school and it is always fn to see Stanford vs. Cal. Other than that any more chapters in the west coast would be nice.

Yes, EWU is a state school. Alpha Phi has four chapters in WA: UW, WSU, UPS & EWU, and three chapters in OR: UO, OSU & Linfield. We also have chapters at U of Idaho & U of Montana.

I agree though that it would be nice to see NPC groups at some of the other private and state schools in OR, WA, ID & MT.

I sooo wish DZ would be invited to recolonize at UT b/c I come from a UT family (didn't go there myself obviously) & I want my daughter to go there...but I will have to send her to A&M (gasp!) if no colony materializes in the next 13 years! That was our Alpha Tau chapter--old, old, old...folded in the early 70's...we'd love to go back...that's all I know!

Tom Earp 06-23-2003 09:56 PM

I would love to see LXA in the three states ecxcluding Ha, that we were in but No Longer!

While all Greek Orgs ahve lost chapters, I would like to see as many a possible recolonize, but when an oppotunity comes along like Shorter College, Wants National Groups that after I was told it was none of my Business, that they Get the head out of ass.

But, I would love to see ALL Greeks become Stronger as that makes each of us stronger!:)

Any Soroitys looking for a School? Try Pittsburg State U. Ks.

3 Soroitys/6 Fraternys!

Ah but the dont fill the three NPC Rule! That Sucks, get my point?:(

LeslieAGD 06-23-2003 10:50 PM

I would also really like to see AGD establish chapters at colleges and universities that already have Alpha Phi and G Phi B chapters. It's nice to have that Triad connection!

Peaches-n-Cream 06-23-2003 11:10 PM

I remember answering this in the past, but I'll do it again.

recolonize:
Barnard/Columbia
Syracuse
Hunter
U of Penn
U of Texas-Austin
Dartmouth
Chapel Hill
UCLA
UC Berkley
Ohio State University
Indiana

I would love to see us expand at big greek schools.
That's all that I can think of now. :)

Kristin AGD 06-23-2003 11:22 PM

I would love to see Alpha Gams at UT-Austin and Texas A&M again. And it would also be great to have a chapter at Texas Tech. I think their lodges are cool.
