Point blank, Jim was voted for out of sympathy. He was by no means better than Kelli or Chris. He got sympathy because both of his parents are deaf and what Simon has said to him in the past.

Simon was mean again, but this time to Paula Abdul. It's her birthday and he said that she looked good for someone who is 50. :eek: She just turned 40.

As for Kelli, I thought she had a good voice, but I agree with Simon's statement that it sounded like she was trying to copy Whitney's voice....you have to be original and put your own style into a performance!!!

She was totally DEVESTATED that she didn't get picked last night...did anyone else see her pull away from someone trying to comfort her just as the show cut to commercial at the end?

I totally agree that Jim only made it through because people felt badly for him. As if he was any better than anyone else there who WASN'T picked?!? COMMON!!! He was HORRIBLE on Tuesday. I think he was as shocked as the rest of us.

If I was allowed to vote (apparantly Canadians can't help pick the 'American Idol') I would have voted for Ryan, Tamyra and Natalie. I don't think ANY of the men were good. I agree with Simon's thought that all the girls were better than all the guys. I didn't think Adriel was that great. He doesn't look bad, but that's about it. And did anyone else think Chris was horrible? The entire time he was singing I was anxious to hear how badly Simon would bash him! I couldn't believe he liked him. I thought he sounded like he was singing in a key that was WAY too high.

I'm still in shock about Jim....I can't get over it.

Wasn't she the one who was too lazy too practice? Why were they complaining? When and if they are famous they aren't going to have time to lay around!!! Ugh- I would be thankful to have some musical talent!!!

I think Tamyra has a wonderful voice and, even though we haven't seen the rest of the contestants, a good chance at winning, but she has an Alicia Keyes thing going on, which kinda bugs me.

To all the people voting, think about whether you'd actually buy the winner's album (I know I would never buy Jim's). Voting for someone to piss off the judges, etc., only takes a spot away from someone that actually deserves it and could actually win.

Actually I'll differ with all of you on the Jim thing.

While musical talent may be in question.. realize the guy probably has really low quality -- if any formal training.

Give the guy some serious music lessons and the talent (which I think is there) will show up.

Pop stars are born AND made (not one or the other but both)

Where currently he doesn't have the singing ability -- based on what I've seen from the fellas in boy bands I think he's on par with N Sync or some group like that (before they recieved their formal musical training)

Of course it really chafes me when they call these people 'artists' but that's another topic entirely...:D

There were some pretty crappy performances last night. But overall Kelly, the next to last girl was awesome. I forgot what song she sang, but it's the same one she's been singing the whole time. The Miami Spice twins sounded just aweful. If either one of them make the top 3, I'll scream

I did it I called and voted for three contestants!!! I voted for Kelly!!!!! I also voted for the girl with the nose ring- didn't like her outfit, but had a good voice. Oh no I don't remember the thrid person i voted for!!!
That one guy who was screaming could be good if he didn't scream.
I never saw popstars so I didn't realize that Miami Spice had been on that show! Tenia had an attitude last night! She looked like a contestant on Miss America-pretty- but she knows it so she has an attitude!
Idolonfox.com has a message board- Miami Spice girls have a lot more negative than positive comments. Some are downright cruel!

Is it just me or wasn't the pitch AWFUL for people considering professional careers?

Some sounded a little off key to me. So many of the women tried to be Whitney. :rolleyes:

It seems like a trend is developing...two really good contestants and one not as good contestant/whoever Simon rips on.

I liked Alexis :( . But I can't vote. Being in Canada is such a problem sometimes.

Not that I didn't think A.J. was good, but I thought some of the other talent was waaaaaaaaaaay better. I'm so sad Alexis didn't make it. But I am SO glad neither of the miami spice girls made it.

Generally, I thought the talent in the first episode was way better....

I was not as impressed by this bunch as the two previous groups. I wasn't really blown away by any of the performances, although I really like Niki and Christina, and Melanie and Ejay did well also.

My favorite part of the show was the clip of the contestants imitating the rejects. :)

Kristin's from my home town....:rolleyes: let's just say, she's a "typical" specimen..... she had to give up her beauty-queen title in order to go on with this show/contest

I liked when the judges fought. Paula and Randy told off Simon! :D Randy was going to kick his butt! :eek: I liked the guy who was the replacement. He was the best! I also liked the woman with the long legs and slit in her skirt.

She seems like a Britney Spears wanna-be and she's annoying. I hope she doesn't advance.

Is Kristin the one who was wearing a pink top and white pants last night? She totally ruined Alicia Keys song! Half of the guys sound like Nsync dropouts. The girl who dressed like a rocker chick was a pretty good singer, but I can name at least 10 other female singers who dress that way, she just stands out on that show because every other girls on it dress like Britney Spears wannabies. I expected her to get out there and sing something by Fiona Apple or No Doubt...her vocal skills suprised me. This show is so entertaining! I love Simon and the way he tells them "straight up," because Paula isn't going to do it! (She's way too nice!)

Yah, Kristin stunk. But how well would you do if you had to follow the randy/paula/simon spat? Poor girl :(

I agree tho, the talent this time around wasn't great. Although, I agree with all the three chosen contestants, for the first time! As much as I think Simon is an a$$, i completely agree with him about AJ (is that his name?) and Jim. What a waste of two spaces!

I can understand Simon's frustration. He's producing the show and probably has a pretty huge stake in whoever is chosen at the end of it. He only wants the best to make it through.

Those 2 guys were pathetic. AJ's voice sounded so whiney. That other blonde fella just got a huge sympathy vote... I mean the deaf parents thing I think won it for him. Wouldn't be surprised if he wins it all.

I think the public finally picked three deserving contestants.

Does anyone know what the format for the "wild card" show will be? Are they just going to show clips and stuff?

It's gonna be an hour long show next week, so I wonder if they are going to have all of the twenty-one who didn't make it perform again. It would only be fair, just in case some of them can do better than they did the last time...

I missed part of the show on Wendnesday. Who did EJ replace and why did they leave??? I'm totally lost on that one.

If Jim were ever to win this competition, I think I'd kill myself. I'd definately never turn on the radio or watch MTV again. I'll tell you that much.

There are rumous flying around that that whole fight between randy and simon was staged for dramatic effect. if you think about it, randy didn't look quite that pi$$sed did he???

Ejay replaced a guy who lied about his age. I don't remember his name but he was a black guy with a ponytail. He said he was 23 but he was really 29.

I think Randy was just trying to shut Simon up. He just seemed like he had had enough so jumped up and was like, bring it on! I don't think it was staged, but I also don't think Randy was really being serious. Just my opinion...

I'm kinda bummed that R.J. won. He seems mediocre and looks like he's ready for a boy band. Also, they already had A.J. and Ejay so now they added R.J... what's with that.

I wanted Kelli to win. She has an awesome voice and she showed a lot more personality last night. I think she deserved to make the top ten.

yah. i was really bummed 'bout the RJ vote too. i don't think he's got as good of a chance as kelli did at winning the whole thing. not that it matters cause i want justin to take it all. heh heh

I was actually glad RJ won last night! I thought his performance was right on and it was nice to see Simon eat his words.

I just really hope Jim and AJ get voted out of the competition next week.

I think the best thing about this show is the judges interaction and Simon making fun of the two hosts.

I think when they get it down to the last five or six, it will be a very difficult decision.

Nikki was TERRIBLE tonight, in my opinion. If given directions to sing ANY Motown song, who in their right mind would pick "Ben"? I know she tried to say it meant something and blah blah, but... she should've known better.

I think Kelly was AMAZING. But here is my prediction for the final two. It will be Justin forsure (btw, funny Timberlake joke there Simon :rolleyes:). And either Tamyra or Christina. They're both so amazing.

I think it will be hilarious when the first two people voted off are the 'LOSERS' who Simon loves so much. Although... I would have said A.J. and Jim are going home forsure, but Nikki really stunk (stank? whatever, she was horrendous), so she may give A.J. a chance. Lucky him. He'll go next week if not tonight.

Is it me or is Jim milking his deaf parents as much as he can? It's not a tregedy to have deaf parents. They seem like pretty stable and well functioning people. Ok. I have a question not pertaining to the singing.

First, I haven't put my 3 cents in on the contest, so here it is, real quick. Of the 2 cut tonight, I agreed with one-- Jim, the other one, EJay, could have gone another night or two, getting rid of instead AJ (who I think is the worst of the group and looks like a rat). My picks (in order of preference) Tamyra, Justin, Christina.

Ok. Now on to my question: What was up at the end of the show when Jim went to hug the other finalists? RJ didn't event get up off his duff to send Jim on his way! I wonder if there is some kind of dislike between the two, or is RJ feeling bad b/c maybe he feels like he stole Jim's place by being the wild card??! VERY INTERESTING.

Even more interesting was how Ryan started WEEPING right when they announced Jim was cut, and then proceeded to hug him FOREVER! Inquiring minds want to know if this was just friendship or something more!!

Those of yall who are addicted to the show might be able to shed some light, I have only been able to watch the first episode, and then the wild card show, and then last nights and today's. So maybe I've missed something.

AND, did ANYBODY think it was REALLY necessary to have a thirty minute show just to boot off two? Really, now, they are really trying to milk it for all it's worth, maybe too much in my opinion.

AND lastly, are any of yall ever trying to call in and vote. I figured what the hell last night, and tried to call in for a while, but it was continuously busy. (I guess that's what happens when 8 million people call in, huh)

I think EJay shoulda stayed too. I was somewhat disappointed to see him go. I didn't think Rat Boy deserved to stay another week. To be honest, I think Jim could've lasted one more week. He wasn't THAT bad. Nikki's got a great voice, but last night's performance gave me doubts. There are better songs out there--"Ben" just didn't do it.

Perhaps it's because he injured himself in last night's fall? The way they described it, it seemed like he had a bad spill. I wouldn't doubt it if he had a hard time getting up. Even if there were ill feelings between Jim and RJ, I doubt he'd make it that obvious.

I think it'd be kinda cute if there was something going on. I think Jim's a cutie.


I called and voted last night...and I was able to get in no problem. Does anyone know how they handle this phone thing? I'm guessing they do it by time zones, right? If that's the case then no wonder I have no problem voting!
