Long Island Iced Tea

Anything with Vodka

Sex on the Beach

Southern Comfort and 7

MUPhiMuKHap 06-01-2002 06:58 PM

Yummy!

I like
-Amaretto Sours
-Rum and coke
-Bacardi Silver with a TON of lime juice in it...not a mixed drink I know, but still my fav and oh so yummy!

ROWDYsister 06-01-2002 08:45 PM

I'm partial to:

Rum and Cokes (Captain's the best!!)
Margaritas (so strong the weak-stomached gag at the smell!)
Midori Sours

-I'm not too picky. And now I'm one of those people who actually feels like having a beer sometimes (when not in a hard alcohol mood.)

And just wondering: What is up with all of these drinks like Captain Morgan Gold, Bacardi Silver, Skyy Blue coming out? First Smirnoff Ice, now everything else. I was so disappointed when I saw a group of girls at LXA's Century Club with cases of Smirnoff Ice instead of beer like everyone else.
:(

phisigQT 06-02-2002 11:11 PM

my favs are:
* kamakazee
* vodka and cran
* bay breeze
* purple hooter
* under current
and of course...an ice cold miller lite! (bottle) :)

btw...is a "long beach" iced tea the same as a "long island" iced tea?

1. Bombay Sapphire Martini
2. Johnny Walker Scotch straight up(Blue Label is expensive but the best)
3. Rum&Cola (I like mine made with Goslings Black Seal Rum/it's made in Bermuda)
4. Cape Codder (In the Summer time up at the Cape and the Vineyard I like mine made with Cranberry Juice, GreyGoose Vodka, tonic water, and a lime twist)
5. Texas Tea(Vodka, Gin, Rum, Bourban, Sweet&Sour, and a splash of Coke)
6. Grand Marnier Straight up(This is great if you're at a bar and can't get to your tums or rolaids)
7. Sex on the Beach
9. White Russian
10. The Sinfonian (This was a special shot that the brothers in my chapter designed as a tribute to the brotherhood) The shot is made out of the three colors Red, Black, and Gold. Use Gold Tequila, Kahlua, and a splash of Grenadine. ALL HAIL!!!

BearyCuteAPhi 06-03-2002 05:18 PM

All Hail, Bro! Actually, the recipe for a Sinfonian shot -- layers of Grenadine, Kahlua and Grand Marnier (I have also heard of Jegermeister being used instead of Grand Marnier) -- can be found in a number of bartending guides. In fact, a little time spent exploring the drink lists in a guide like The Virtual Bar will yield quite a few drinks named after GLO's. :cool:

Ok, I didn't want to start a new thread for this, so I decided to pull one out of the graveyard.

It's my husband's birthday tonight, and I'm going to stop and pick up a bottle of liquor on the way home? Any suggestions??

We're not opposed to the pre-mixed magaritas/daquris/mudslides, but sometimes it gets old. Also, we don't drink alot at home, so I'm only getting one bottle of whatever. We prefer something more subtle, neither one of us cares for a strong alcohol taste.

I would say a good tequila, but KSigRC is the expert on that, so I'll leave it up to him (if he sees this thread).

Word.

If you're going to mix (as with a Margarita mix), I would suggest a decent Reposado tequila, as it fits most peoples' tastes a little better than an Anejo. If you're looking for something good, depending on budget, I like Cazadores, Sauza Hornitos, Herradura, or El Corazon . . . if you're going lower, though, that's cool - Cuervo Tradicional is pretty solid for an 'occasion' drink.

Add Grand Marnier or Cointreau as budget allows . . .

AlphaFrog 02-17-2006 04:21 PM

Thanks. Being that he's Mexican, you can't go wrong w/tequilla.

Pepe Lopez is an evil prick who tried to kill me once.

He also made me run around naked.

Actually, was meaning to ask; I got a bottle of La Fogata Anejo for a present. Good stuff? I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Scotch and Bourbon for me, and I never mix the bourbon. I drink it either neat or with a single ice cube. Every now and then I will add a splash of water, but it has to be spring water as tap water has too many impurities.

Scotch wise: Macallan 21 or 30 year - Glenfiddich - Johnny Walker Blue Label - Glenlivet 18 year

HotDamnImAPhiMu 02-17-2006 11:08 PM

I can't do tequila, in any way, in any form. The very smell of it makes me rush to the ladies' room!! I think it happened when a certain bar served 3 drinks for $1 on Friday afternoons, and my two best friends were into Tequila Sunrises... Necesito a vomitar!

I like girlie drinks, I admit it. If I can't have an amarretto sours, a mimosa, or a Kahlua drink, then give me Southern Comfort on the rocks. Or an Irish coffee.

I love mimosas too. Theres nothing better than an early morning mimosa or a spicy bloody mary before a football game to cure that hangover.

There was a place outside DC (VA) which had "all you can drink" mimosas with Sunday breakfasts. We basically poured ourselves into the Metro, and to RFK for soccer games for a few months!!

Still love 'em! ;)

Betarulz! 02-18-2006 03:55 AM

vodka clubs and whiskey diets (preferably not Jack) are my mixed drinks of choice. I also like my martinis with vodka, dirty but not too dirty.

I've found that the vodka clubs are pretty much the perfect drink for me. If the vodka is cheap, much of the taste is masked by the club soda, but good vodka does have a noticeable improvement of the taste. also pretty good in the hangover department. However, I've also found that most people don't like club soda, so it's always a risk ordering one b/c the bartenders tend to put tonic instead of soda. I can't stand tonic.

Never had it - which usually means it's pretty good, since it's prob way off the boat.

Let me know what you think - any time you have an 'unknown' like that, though, it'll be 10x better if it's an anejo (which drinks more like a bourbon or cognac . . . ie right up our respective alleys).

Nice; it looked solid, but I wasn't able to find too much about it online.

There's a restaurant in the town I used to live in, which offers a "Bellini Brunch" every Sunday. You get a 3-course brunch and all-you-can-drink bellinis and Bloody Marys for around $20.

I discovered it about a week before I moved away after having lived there for over 4 years. :( But I only moved 3 towns away, so it's not like I can't go back. I just need to find someone else to drive! ;)

summer_gphib 02-18-2006 11:28 AM

HotDamnImAPhiMu 02-18-2006 12:42 PM

Was it a Yellow Bird or a Sufferin' Bastard? It's pineapple juice, orange juice, leomon juice, galliano, rum, and creme de banana. They're wonderful, I just haven't had one in ages!

I'm strictly a Bourbon and Diet girl... sweet or sugary drinks don't sit well with me
