Exactly!!! Same goes for the Prettiest Badge thread.
Each chapter, no matter the size, the campus, the GLO...each has it's own unique set of group dynamics that arise from the individuals that belong to it. Remember...it's not the size that matters!!! :D :) :D |

I was going to plug LSU too!! Great minds think alike. :)I personally like the Delta Delta Delta House and the Delta Zeta House |

I couldn't view it either, Leslie. From what I've heard, the new house will be great, and the chapter won't have to be off by itself anymore.
|
Hmmm. I'm not sure what the problem is.
Can you try going to www.cartogra.com or try this http://www.cartogra.com/Home/ViewMyA...oll_id=1505252 Do a search for a photo album called AGD. I made it public...so you should be able to look at it. Otherwise..send me a personal message with your e-mail, and I will send it to you. |

Yes, we have nice Greek Row here. I personally like Delta Upsilon house (click on HOME) and Sigma Alpha Epsilon house. Also I love my house which is in the middle of the greek row. :D Also check these out: Theta Xi Pi Kappa Alpha Gamma Phi Beta Sigma Kappa Kappa Sigma |

Marissa....there you go...You could be a Leadership Adviser for EB.
Cheers, Keri |
Keri, I was finally able to see the house...looks gorgeous!!! :)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Middle Tennesee State too. They just created a brand new greek row, and by looking at their sites, the houses are huge, and well equipped. Check out the Beta House, it is seriously a castle:
MTSU Beta House The Beta House is the only house at MTSU equipped for a house mother, and the only house equipped with a commercial kitchen. This house has 28 bedrooms, and sleeps 41 guys. Check it out, its pretty sweet. |
Wow, all of these houses are gorgeous! One fact about fraternity row here at UMD is the opening scene of St. Elmo's Fire was filmed there. One house I love here is the KD house. It's beautiful and called the KD Castle. It's the only sorority house that isn't the traditional brick with white columns. The link below shows some of the houses, the row, and lots of Maryland Greeks having a good time.

Cali
Also check Theta Delta Chi house at UC Berkeley. The Graduate (movie, 1967) took one scene at the beautiful house.
Click here to see the homepage. Is all Berkeley houses as beautiful as that? I really admire the ivy covering the house has. |
Naaaahhh... not all. the houses in Berkely are that nice.. some of the others are very nice and some of them are very plain and not kept up well... and they are not organized in a "greek row" they are all scattered about the neighborhood.
|
Yes it rocks! All the houses here are pretty awesome. Beta has a great dance floor, too, and they have pretty awesome parties! They had a foam/Animal House party a couple weeks ago which was pretty cool. Hopefully within the next 2 years we'll have sorority houses on the "2nd Greek Row" here. Yay! I can't wait! :)

OSU FIJI house
Oregon State University Greek row is 2 blocks long and 2 blocks wide. It has about 14 houses in the area, with another 4 or 5 just off the main strip. The FIJI house looks like this: OSU FIJI HOUSE
ALL HOUSES:OSU GREEK HOUSES The link for our newly designed web page is here: Oregon State University- Kappa Omicron- Phi Gamma Delta- FIJI Check it out! -Fish OSU Fiji |
The Chi Omega house at LSU is particularly beautiful. Its modeled after an 18th century plantation and is located opposite a lake. All of sorority row borders a meandering drive on the LSU lakes. The houses are gorgeous.

At the State University of West Georgia, Boykin Hall houses the 6 NPC groups. Last year, the Univ. insisted that each sorority be financially responsible for 25 beds. And if 1 group wants to move out, all will probably have to move out.
They have been talking about a fraternity row for decades since Greeks went national in the early 70's. Sort of a double standard, fraternities can have houses but sororities can't unless everyone moves out of Boykin. With all the hassles of house-owning, the sororities probably never will. The AGD house at Georigia Tech is really cute..after major renovations in 1996. It was the home of a famous sculptor, Julian Harris who's "test animal" stone carvings can be found around the house/yard. |
I'll agree with whoever said that the University of Alabama's greek row is gorgeous. The houses to me (especially the sorority houses) are "classic" and just what you would picture when thinking of Old South Greek life.
ZTAngel---I think that UCF has a very unique Greek set up. The sorority houses are very pretty and unique..not quite what I'm used to when thinking about Greek housing. But some of the fraternities... What's up with the old apartment buildings turned fraternity house?? When I saw those buildings with huge painted letters on them I had to laugh. (No offense meant to anyone in those orgs but it was a pretty random set up) FSU didn't have a "row" The houses were spread all around campus. One street had many of the sorority houses but they were still spread out from each other. The sorority houses at FSu are pretty, in my opinion. The fraternity houses (with the exception of a few) are not in such great shape. Auburn also has some very nice fraternity houses...especially the new ones. There is an "old" row and a "new" row, but even some of the houses on the old row have been redone. Auburn has sorority dorms...there is some rule about not being allowed to have houses. I wonder if that will ever change. Land around campus isn't exaclty plentiful though, so I would have to guess probably not. Anyone know anything about that? |
I know San Francisco has some kind of law or something that says that 7 or more women living in a house is a brothel, so we aren't allowed to have houses.
Also in San Fran land is VERY VERY expensive. It would cost about a million to build houses like some of the ones I've seen on this thread around our campus, just because of the cost of land here in Cali, so I don't think it's ever going to happen. =( |
i am amazed at how awesome and close together the greek row's are at some of your schools (especially maryland - that looks awesome) our houses are sooooo spread out here - my house is in the middle of nowhere, haha
http://www.uiowa.edu/~ifcpan/images/greekmap.jpg up at the top right hand corner is the only thing close to a "greek row" and there is only6 houses there - two fo them do sit on the river though - very awesome - and in the top left really its more of a greek circle. my house, dz, as you can see down at the bottom of the picture, is what seems like 10 miles away from all that - but we are near theta, zta, a-phi, and dg... here, the sororities seems to be all very off campus (with the exception of tri-delt, gphib, and axid) and the fraternity houses get lucky and have the easy walk to campus... so not fair... |
greek housing ...Southern Style
I m not in a greek sorority yet , but i have to say when i was in college i have to give a shout out to the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS- Fayetteville ( WOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOOOIE) sorry i have not done that in a very long time and i had to do it... anyways, arkansas has some AWESOME houses. Chi Omega being orginated at UARK, the house is awesome, ADPI brick an floral cant beat that, Kappa Kappa Gamma( to me it is awesome looking for it reminds of South Fork in "Dallas". KD,ZTA, PI Phi,Phi Mu,and tri delt house are all big beautiful Plantation homes.
ever want to see pretty homes that is the campus. "Once a Razorback , Always a Razorback" although you cant take the SOUTHERN California girl out of SO Cal, you can transform her to a SOUTHERN BELLE! :D |

Indiana University has the prettiest Greek Row in the state! It makes me jealous because at Ball State we dont have sorority houses so I go to IU and dream about living in one of theirs! And talking about the worst excuse for a "Greek row" is my school. Ball States like 13 fraternity houses are just sick looking compared to some of the other houses I have seen! Like Wabash College. LAMBDA CHI ALPHA IS THE BEST HOUSE THERE! haha.
Just because it is clean :) |
Well I havent seen very many Sorority/Fraternity houses but I love all the houses at U of M. I dont think there is one small house on that campus!! Compared to alot of houses they are like castles (yeah i know not really) but I especially like the AGD hosue...
hmm i wonder why!! :D |
San Diego State does their Frat houses differently. This next year we're moving into a new Fraternity Row, but it will be quite different.
First off, Sigma Chi and SAE have houses big enough to hold more than 40 guys, and those are the only houses out of 14 IFC frats that can do that. Everyone else had houses that only had 7 bedrooms or so with a big party room. PLus, they were spread out all over campus. The new row will be a LOT different than many schools'. It will be 8 houses on the lot (Delta Sig, Sammy, Phi Kap, Phi Psi, Sigma Nu, ZBT, AEPi and KA), which will also only hold maybe 6 or 7 people. The catch here is that in between two rows of four houses will be an apartment building , each house given eight apartments to house whoever they want (non greeks can stay there if the house wants). It will be a new era in SDSU Greek Life, and it'll benefit many people. Only thing is they're planning on building a new sorotiy row too.......ALL THE WAY ACROSS CAMPUS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SCHOOL WHERE THE ROW IS! |
Re: Addition
I could swear, that Sigma Pi was next to Beta.....at least I think they were there when I came to VEISHA days back in 1997???
Also, way on the upper right part of the map, is that Alpha Xi Delta or Alpha Sigma Alpha? I didn't think AXiD had a chapter in IA other than UI?? Thanks!

Couple changes occured. Sigma Pi moved to their new house back in 1999, I believe. The new chartered Pi Kappa Alpha took old Sigma Pi house. And we lost Phi Kappa Tau, Phi Kappa Psi and Delta Chi, 1999-2001. We've been having Alpha Xi Delta since ever, I think, because their house was built in the 1960s. |

Greek Row
Well, I have an opnion on the "prettiest" greek row...Its at Middle Tennessee State University...It is frat row and it is AWESOME! Each house is so different and unique...it really takes your breath away when you see it! I wish I had a link, but alas, I do not!
Blaire Delta Zeta...Lighting the Paths of Friendship |
ZTAngel, you're right about the UCF "Greek Park" (that's what someone told me it's called)...the houses are gorgeous! The Tri-Delt house was awesome, the Sigma Chi house is amazing (that's the huge white one at the end, right?)
But it's really spreadout. I know you don't want to be too cramped, but who needs all that space? Anyway, it's cool that the fraternities and sororities are all in the same area...easier to walk home after a good party (at UF my house is currently the only sorority house in frat row and I must honestly say it's a godsend. When you're having an off night, all you have to do is walk a bit and chill at your own house.) I saw the FSU houses a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the houses, including the DZ house and the Pi Phi house (I wish I could have dropped by but it was like 3 in the morning!). Maybe we'll be able to fit in a tour of the house during the UF-FSU game weekend. I love UF's houses...and the way they're set up on campus. |

Phi Mu Alpha House
Our chapter at Illinois Wesleyan University has a really cool house. It was donated by a brother who was a dentist during the beginning of the last century. It has a cool basement and is actually located two houses away from the SAI house.
