We have one of those ancient dictionaries with the alphabets from many lands in it, and I could swear it said Omega = Q! Oh well, maybe I am still feeling the aftereffects of the weekend!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

Hi 33! Yeah, sometimes those books aren't the most reliable. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I'm only working off the Greek I learned at home & in Greek school. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Kappa Sigma Fraternity = KapSig, Kappa Sigs, KS house, sometimes "skull house" if there's no PhiKS house there (we have a skull on our badge, as well), but i think that's sort of a dumb nick.

I'm an Alpha Chi Omega. I've heard some people use "A-Chi-O"...which I DISLIKE GREATLY! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif There's already a Chi-O...most people in the know say "Alpha Chi".

33, you're right about the Q thing. When you're in your word processing program, change to Greek Symbols, then type a capital Q and you'll get an omega.
As for nicknames, Delta Phi Epsilon is D Phi E or Deephers, which I despise. |
Shadokat, there are several letters on the American keyboard that aren't equivalent for the Greek letters, they just needed someplace to put them. Don't place any stock in where they are on the kepboard. Greek is a completely different animal than English. For instance, the capital chi is an X, but in Greek its pronounced like an "H" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I checked my Greek-American dictionary/grammar book and my suspicions were confirmed: omega is pronounced like the "o" in "row." Hope this clears things up!

I'm an Alpha Chi Omega at a small school and I initially heard the group refered to as the "Chi's". We tend to go by A-Chi-O's, Chi's, A-X-O's, or Alpha Chi's
