Delta Zeta or Delta Gamma...DZs look like they have tons of fun and DGs coz i have friends in there and they would most probably asked me to rush them anyway =)
|
Well if I hadn't started a Kappa Sigma chapter . . . I would have had to have gone Delta Zeta, great girls here . . . I'd much rather be in a sorority (slumber parties, pillow fights etc) . . . just this pesky gender thing getting in the way http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif.
|
I pref'd Pi Phi, DG and ADPi. I was lucky, I liked all three GLOs I went to on Pref night and would have felt proud to be a member. I was very comfortable with DG, but my heart was in/at Pi Phi.

Yes, I know I've already posted on this thread, but hey... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Of all the sororities I rushed, three really stood out. They were Kappa, KD, and ADPi. With KD, I loved everything I read about the national, but did not really click with the chapter. With ADPi, I was impressed by their national, but it just didn't seem "me." That being said, the chapter had great girls. With Kappa, I loved the national more than KD and the chapter more than ADPi. There's no question that Kappa was perfect for me. If Kappa weren't in the picture, it would be a tough call between KD and ADPi. I guess I would have to choose which was more important to me, the national or the chapter. This is a really cool thread! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif And If I were a guy, there's no question that I would be a Chi Psi http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif [This message has been edited by kappagirl00 (edited June 29, 2001).] |
Are you kidding me? I was made to be in DphiE! Theres no other chapter I would have chosen... Be the best, forget about the rest!

If there wasn't an Alpha Gam chapter at my school, I would have wanted to be either an Alpha Phi or an ADPi. I really clicked with the Alpha Phi's during recruitment and I could also see myself fitting in pretty well with the ADPi's at my school. However, AGD was the best fit for me!! If I could go back and do it again, I would definitely still be an Alpha Gam!!!!!!!
|
If my GLO wasnt around, I would be a GDI
|
I can not imagine myself being anything else, but an Alpha Gam, but if it came down to it, Pi Phi or DZ. If I had known before Rush I might have looked into ASA too since my aunt is an alumni.
|
I'm so proud to be an Alpha Gam...but if it hadn't been on my campus, I would have pledged Alpha Phi. They were sweet girls that I really liked.
If I had stayed at the school I originally started at--the University of Arizona--I would have gone Chi-O. Funny thing is, I have a Tri-Delt friend from the U of A who told me I would have been a perfect fit at the Arizona Chi-O chapter. But, lucky for me, I pledged Alpha Gam, and I couldn't be happier! ------------------ "To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, kindness invaluable." |
Greeklawgirl, I love your signature, it has inspired me to change mine!
------------------ If your going to go greek, why not be a goddess? |
AGD ALL THE WAY!!! No one else even compared on my campus.
And I agree, GreekLawGirl! I love that line....good quote. ------------------ Jenny |
I totally agree AGD all the way and love the quote too! But if i had of rushed my fresh year (AGD really wasnt on campus at the time, they had issues, but we still love are old girls http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif) I would have definately gone to Alpha Phi. When I did do full rush another year I adored them and plus lots of girls from my hometown are in it (which is unusual). I also liked D-Phi-E and KKG.
Has anyone notices that all the AGD's are pretty much saying they would have gone Alpha Phi? Any coincidence since we're all part of the Syracuse Three? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Thanks for the compliments, ladies. Off the subject, when I rushed what seems like MANY years ago, on pref night the actives recited the Alpha Gam Purpose. I got shivers down my spine when I heard it--it was as if my family was calling me home. That's when I knew that Alpha Gam was the only place for me! I thought my signature should reflect that. And as for all the AGDs picking Alpha Phi as their second choice, being part of the Syracuse Triad is certainly something to be proud of. I love all my NPC sisters, but there will always be an especially fuzzy place in my heart for the ladies of Alpha Phi and G-Phi-B!

I love that line too, but my favorite line from the purpose is "To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the worlds work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied" I have even quoted it when speaking to other groups I belong to!

For me, its a toughie... if we didnt have PHI SIGMA SIGMA.... I would have most likely gone DZ! It was a decision betweent the two... But after pref in my heart I knew I was a Phi Sig though (and actually cried to my mom when I was SURE that I didnt get a bid!)
Not on my campus? From learning about them all... Chi Omega, Tri Delta, Phi Mu or Theta! If I was a guy....lol (I love how people said this!) On our campus: Phi Delt... lol... off? hmmm...PIKE! I have loved all of the Pikes I have met! [This message has been edited by AngelPhiSig (edited June 28, 2001).] |
Well, since DG was the only sorority I rushed, (I did informal) I didn't get the opportunity to see how all the other sororities were. However, since I am a Junior I have gotten the opportunity to know them a lot better on a personal basis and the things they are involved in. I love DG and wouldn't want to be anything else in the world, but had I done formal rush Kappa Delta probably would have been my first choice. I would have based my choice more on the philanthropy (child abuse, and I'm a social work major) and symbols (teddy bear, and I collect teddy bears) they use instead of actually how comfortble or how
well I fit in with that group of girls. They are a great group of women and I have a lot of wonderful friends who are KD's, but Delta Gamma is where my heart truely belongs. |
I also did informal, and found out later about all the other houses and then wished I'd done formal. I probably would have gone AGD, what a fun group of people w/ great sisterhood. (I'm an ADPi).
It's really great to read through this and see so many people have respect for my GLO, though. I'm really involved now in my alum group; it's awesome to hear that we have impressed people on a National level. Thanks, ladies! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
When I was in 11th and 12th grade, I was all about going ADPi. But when I got to school, I realized that they weren't me. I can't imagine not being a ZTA, but at my school if I really had to pick another one, it would be Tri-Delt. Off campus, I like DZ and AXO. All those girls I have met seem like real sweethearts, and I'm a DZ legacy. If I was a guy, Pi Kappa Phi all the way. Alpha chapter is on our campus, so I have met Pi Kapps from all over who come visit. They are always such gentlemen! Especially the ones from UCF. On our campus, the Pi Kapps are the only ones who treat girls with respect and don't just try to get us drunk and naked! Well, the Sig Epps are nice guys, too.
------------------ "Seek the noblest." Zeta Love! <3 |
Have you met any Pi Kapps from UNF yet
|
I would've wanted to be a DZ, but since they already cut me once I assume they would cut me again if my chapter didn't exist, but DZ would still be my preference. But I still think they are really pretty girls, so are my sisters, and they wear the best clothes.
|
I prolly would have rushed Alpha Gamma Delta.... They were the only other sorority that may me feel welcome at formal rush. But Kappa Delta has always been my first choice. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
|
It's so nice to hear so many nice things about Kappa! Thanks!
If I couldn't have/hadn't gone KKG, on my campus I would have gone either DG or Theta. Just a bunch of SUPER girls! ------------------ Oh, Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma, I'm so happy that I am a Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma, Nobody knows . . . how happy I am! |
Hehe, I must say that I got hooked on Phi Sig when my dance team captain came down to our HS the year after she graduated... all decked out in Phi Sig gear... telling me about our local mascot (Teddy bear) And the colors, King Blue and Gold... aka YELLOW... and dood, there it was... Yellow, my fav color, and I LOVE TEDDY BEARS! Although Elephants are wonderous too!!

I didn't go through formal rush so I really can't say who i would join. But chapters are so different during formal, so I can judge on what I see. Delta Phi Epsilon seems like a fun group of girls, but I'm not too sure I'd fit in with them. I love Phi Sigma Sigma, and I get along great with those girls, but I still absolutely love my girls and I can't picture myself belonging to a different group.

I guess pi kappa phi. It was my secind choice in rush.

If the Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter at my University didn't exist then I would just have to join the city chapter or try to start a chapter at my school.

If Delta Kappa Phi had not been on my campus I would have chosen Theta Phi or Kappa Beta Gamma.

Delurking here - thought this was an interesting thread.
When I went through rush there were 4 national sororities and a local at my school. The local didn't participate in formal rush, but held their own rush the following week. (Got their own rho chi and everything!) The nationals were huge (total was 80, quota was usually around 30-32), the local had just gotten started and was very small (7). I went through 2 rounds of rush before I realized I wasn't really comfortable joining such a big group. As an only child the idea of suddenly having 100+ sisters scared me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Plus I thought I'd get lost in such a big group, and not really be able to make a difference to the chapter. So I dropped out to rush the local, joined, and I'm glad I did. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif (The local later went national w/ AEPhi - hence the username) Anyway, if the local hadn't been there, I probably would not have dropped out of rush, and would -- edited: would probably have joined one of the 2 sororities I went to for 2nd round parties. I don't know much about the nationals that weren't represented at my school, so I can't speak to that. |
Hi AEPhi!
You went to MIT, right?!? |
Hi AEPhi!
You went to MIT, right?!? |
I am glad we started up this thread again!!!!
If I weren't an AZD I would have like to have been an AOTT or a Tri-Sig. For the fact that the other two chapters that I didn't mention aren't very unified. While AOTT and Tri-Sig usually are pretty close all the way around and the other two sororities that my chapter gets along with....except for maybe during greek week! |
yep, MIT :)

I have a question
Now i see all my fellow greeks use words that only greeks understand, but it's been bothering me for awhile now because there are a frew words that i have no idea what they mean, for example
WGLO: GLO: BLO: and the other O's, if anyone can tell me what these codes mean that will be great. once again thanks alot and GOD Bless you and and remeber Greek'ssss Rulessss 2 young+4 A= 6 pack From: Your brothers of the newly acclaim chapter of Mu Omega Pi fraternity, were taking greek life to a higher level.... |
DO7,
WGLO stands for "White Greek Letter Organization," which are the fraternities/sororities that were traditionally open only to white Christian people, which is not the case with any of those organizations today. GLO is for Greek Letter Organization BGLO stands for "Black Greek Letter Organization, " which refers to the Divine Nine. Hope this helps! |
Thanks alot
Thanks alot now i understand...

Actually, that is a question I asked myself a lot when I was in school. If I had rushed as a freshmen instead of a sophmore I wonder where (if any) I would have ended up. The sorority I pledged wasn't at my school my freshman year. And knowing what I know now abut how competitive my school's greek system was, I think I would have been at a better place rushing as a freshman. But then again I was so clueless as a sophmore that I probably was more so as a freshman.
I don't know. I think probably a Sigma Kappa or Kappa Delta but KD is possibly pushing it for me. I say those two because I am a legacy at those houses. But, I think I would have LOVED being a Kappa and wishful thinking for me is also a Theta. But, your down to earth houses are DG and AXO. Honestly, I think I wanted to be greek so bad I would have picked in the following order: Kappa Theta Tri Delt Alpha Phi KD AOPi DG AXO SK The other houses I would have dropped out of rush before I pledged them knowing I would have another chance as a sophmore. |
If I was going to be something besides Chi Omega( bad thought!! :) ), I would be:
on campus-DG..I put them as my 2nd choice during Pref, and it was a tough decision. I really liked them alot...... off campus-probably Tri-Delt or Theta If I was a guy, I'd probably go FIJI-all the guys I've known have been so much fun and so cool! They were always a blast to hang out with (next to my Sigma Nu's of course). Very cool indeed. |
