MY COSBY VENT!!!!!!!!!

I love me some Cosby!

My favorite Cosby kid was Denise, she was pretty and cool.
Least Favorite was Vanessa, she complained too much!
Favorite Non Cosby: Peter! Every time Peter ran out the house, I was rollin! And when Cosby had him on his knee for the horse ride, he could barely hang on.
Favorite episode: Gordon Gartrell!

Denise:" You don't like it????"
Theo with look on his face:"Ask me that again!!!"

And IT'S TUCKED INTO MY SOCKS!

Second favorite Scene

Theo: "Maybe if you could love me anyway...because I'm your son"
(audience claps)
Cosby: Theo...
(Theo turns around)
Cosby: That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! No wonder you get D's and everything!

I really thought he was going to say sorry! I should have known.
Maybe Alicia Keys is OLDER than she's saying. Rumor has it that lil bow is really 16 instead of 14. You never know(shrugs)

Ok now that all the nice stuff is out the way it's time for

QTE'S COSBY VENT

let me just start out by saying that RAVEN SIMONE KILLED THE SHOW!http://www.plauder-smilies.com/rough/headshot.gif Rudy got too big and they sent in this little summin summin to take her place, she was so NOT FUNNY to me. She also ruined Mr.Cooper and Nutty Professor. I know that sounds harsh, but I don't care, it's the truth!:D

No one has mentioned this yet, and to this day I don't know what the HELL it means:

JAMMIN ON THE ONE, JA-JA-JA JAMMIN ON THE ONEhttp://www.plauder-smilies.com/sad/nixweiss.gif
Even Stevie Wonder "looked" at Theo like "what is this young buck talking about"

The shortage of black actors on the show. Did anyone notice the when Saundra and Elvin(the most boring person on that show after he quit being "pro-man") broke up, Saundra went out with who was LATER Denise's Husband(The non-important Navy Shipman)?

And last(and this was talked about on another site) How I think Cosby felt pressure to get more "black". My house is VERY much like The Cosby's. Cosby went from a high class family to in the last two seasons:

Theo with lines in his head
Vannessa with a crooked bush as a hairdohttp://www.plauder-smilies.com/person/fro.gif
Pam "ghetto" self on the show
Denise with dreads after being in Africa.

Ok I'm done. But I still Love The Cosby Show!

I agree, I agree, I agree......I could not stand episodes that had that damn Raven-Simone in them. I didn't like Mr Cooper either when she joined that show, I don't know but there is just something about her that I just didn't like.

You have me cracking the hell up with your Jammin on the one.....oh that is funny.

Yes I did notice when Saundra went out with the guy that Cliff liked it was none other than a later reborn Martin Kendle....do they think that we won't remember this stuff?:D

COSBY SHOW RETROSPECTIVE

The Cosby Show Retrospective will air on May 19, 2002. The reunion will consist of interviews interspered with clips of the show's successful eight year run on NBC.

:D

Favorite Cosby Kid: Denise. She was so wierd and different and that's why I loved her.
Favorite non Cosby Kid: Kenny. Him and Rudy were so cute together
Favorite episode: I loved Denise's boyfriends. I liked the one where her and her boyfriend were watching reggae on TV and he was sitting there saying "Eh Man" and she joined in. I also like the boyfriend with the Jehri Curl who wore mismatched socks to go against the establishment.

And ya'll I thought I was the only one who didn't like Raven Simone on the show. She just annoyed me for some reason or another.

I heard on TV tonight that Katie Couric is interviewing the cast of The Cosby Show, tommorrow (May 3rd) Of course, the interview includes our own Soror Keisha Knight Pulliam:)

I'm not sure which hour the interview will take place, probably the second hour tomorrow.

The Cosby is my FAVORITE SHOW!

OH MY GOD, I LOVE THE COSBY SHOW!!!!!

My favorite Cosby kid: Rudy when she was little (not big, at all)
My favorite Non-Cosby kid: Kenny he was so damn funny
(Buuuuudd)
My favorite episode: The one when they have Vanessa's
boyfriend over for dinner and they announce they are
engaged. Cliff flips out but then when he tells Cliff that he
owns a house he "LOVES" him. :D LOL Then they cannot
even see the stone the ring. Theo tells her that it might
have fallen off; and Vanessa gets upset telling them that it
is there. LOL :D
That show is soooo funny!!!!

Ronnie :D

The Today Show on NBC, 7 a.m. - 10: a.m., weekdays. The Today Show has been featuring reunions from the NBC shows of the past 75 years for the network's anniversary.

ladyjag99 05-03-2002 01:51 AM

Does anyone know anything about the reunion show? There's supposed to be one later on this month (without Lisa Bonet). Details are greatly appreciated.

Re: Cosby Show Marathon

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE COSBY KID?

Theo. Because he was a cutie. I also liked how his character progressed from being the not-so-smart kid to a college graduate and responsible and splendid looking young man. But I had a lot in common with Vanessa in her younger years as I was the big sister to a "Rudy"-like lil' sis.

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE NON COSBY KID?

I personally liked Peter. I liked the hilarity of his quiet persona. I liked Kenny as well with his "My brother says"...I love when Rudy tells him " I don't care what your brother says!". But here's an episode that did it for me...when the family discovers a mouse in the house and Peter runs out almost as fast as he came in.

WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITE EPISODES?

My favorite episode is when the family celebrates Grandma and Grandpa Huxtables' 50th Anniversary. I loved when Rudy sang that Ray Carter song...as she belted "BABYyyyyeee! Babyyyyeee, oh, baby now!"....then Cliff enters the scene with "I said, Baby..." and his eyes bulge out of his socket.

I loved the following "Theo"-centered episodes
-When he sings "Justine, Justine"
-When the family teaches him the value of money
-When he and Cockroach both try to go on a video show.
-When he and Cockroach take their dates to the prom by plane and they return to the house looking a "hot mess"
-Theo's date with Tonya
-When Theo and Cockroach create a rap to remember scenes from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

I also liked when the kids did a skit on "What hapened in 19xx" in celebration of Claire's 50th Birthday. They wore outfits depicting the style of that period. I think Placido Domingo was on that show as well and he and Claire sang a duet together in Spanish.

I love the episode where Cliff and Jeremy (one of Vanessa's boyfriends) talk honestly about their (Jeremy and Vanessa's )relationship.

I love any episode where the Huxtables' neighbor Jeffrey came on. He was sooo funny. Especially the episode when he goes out to buy a flashy car. His description is so funny. The hilarity!

I also love the episode where Cliff prepares a lavish Caribbean dinner for Claire in celebration of their anniversary.

I also loved the episodes that Lena Horne, Betty Carter (now deceased), and Stevie Wonder appeared in.

I also loved episodes where I would see Claire in the courtroom or at her firm. Those scenes were powerful images for me as a child.

I loved when Grandpa Huxtable and his friends were on the show talking about their Hillman days.

I also liked it when Claire and Cliff visited their Alma Mater for graduation. They were there to celebrate the retirement of one of their beloved president.

I liked when Claire and her girlfriends gathered and discussed one of their professors at Hillman who had a high pitched and high-pedigree-sounding voice.

If I think of more episodes, I'll return to post them

WHAT WAS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE EPISODE?

My least favorite episode was the Muppets episode wherein Cliff had a horrible dream after eating a hoagie and all of the men were pregnant and muppets were all over the place. I was a little bit older by the time this episode aired. If I were say, 4, I would have gotten a kick out of it. But even in that episode...Jeffrey Engel (the Huxtables' bald headed neighbor) cracked me up as he gave an account of the birth experience. His accentuating of the "ESCRUCIATING pain" was hilarious to me.

Oh, I must add that I loved a one-liner of Cliff, and use it sometimes. Scene: Cliff is baby sitting Winnie and Nelson. One of the babies looks at him attentively, while the other one doesn't. Cliff looks at the unattentive one and says: "Oh, this one is not too brite."

Bobby Earl 05-14-2002 04:13 PM

My favorite show was when Heathcliffe and his old college professor were playing his father and his father's best friend in a card game. Heathcliffe had to rub his father's head and it took all of his strength (so it seemed) to do it.

I have two favorite DIFFERENT WORLD episodes. One was when RON and DeWayne were on line. The other episode was when Ron and DeWayne were fighting those white guys from Avery (I think).

Many of the members and guests of the Different World and Cosby Show were on SCHOOL DAZE as well (Good Idea for a thread). A lot of young black actors got their start thanks to Spike Lee and Bill Cosby.

CrimsonTide4 05-19-2002 09:16 PM

Have you noticed. . .

. . . that they are not showing Lisa Bonet at all?

I wish they would show an adult PETER. **EDITED: They SHOWED PETER.:D**

They did not even let Martin come on. Where are Winnie and Nelson? Where are the grandparents?

Bobby Earl was right. A lot of folks got their start via the Cosby Show or were on as an extra:

Adam Sandler
Lela Rochon
Angela Bassett
Robin Givens
Malinda Williams (Bird on Soul Food the Series)
Blair Underwood
Kadeem Hardison
Naomi Campbell

PUFFY?!?!!? Why was he allowed on there?

CrimsonTide4 05-19-2002 10:38 PM

They showed the grandparents and WOW the granddad has aged.

I was so glad to see Kenny but can I please see CARL "COCKROACH" PAYNE?!?!!?! :D

Did you all know that the doctor who gave birth to the twins was "CHOIR BOY' from the 5 Heartbeats? I keep meaning to tell you that. :D

Yeah it did.

I was moved by Bill's speech at the end how they never received any awards yet they were a universal show with quality acting and introduced America to a "Stable" BLACK family as well a lot of different things about music and art. It never entered my mind that they were passed over. They were the start of the revival of must see TV. BOOOOOOOO LOSERS.

Did you all notice Bill sporting his OMEGA pin?

DELTAQTE 05-20-2002 02:18 AM

I watched

And I almost jumped for joy when they showed peter. Boy he sure hasn't changed, he looks like a big staypuff marshmellow man. And I liked seeing Kenny. Now I really am wondering if Kenny and Keisha are together in life.

Yeah I think the grandparents are together. And I liked what Bill said about Phlisah(sp) Rashad and how she got teary eyed.

Keisha and the rest of the kids have really aged well. Raven does look too old for her age though.

yeah I wanted to see FINE cockroach also.:D

i must've missed them showing peter. but then again, i was flipping back and forth between that and the survivor finals (i'm so happy that the sista won the money!!!)

SOROR CT4 (:D), i myself was wondering, "who made puffy the cosby show expert??" i wish someone would tell me exactly why they chose him to do commentary

i'm also glad that SOROR KEISHA KNIGHT-PULLIAM (:D) has gotten cute again! i thought her hair looked nice. but, what's up with malcolm? he looked a little, how you say, grusty (not sure what the term grusty means or if it really has one but it seems to aptly describe his appearance)

all in all, i enjoyed this special. the cosby show is one of my all-time favorite shows. they just don't make quality programming like they used to...

I missed Bill throw up the hooks but I would not be surprised.

I was saying the same thing about the grand pop man he looked old.

I wanted to see Walter...aka Cockroach myself.

Yes I knew that Chiorboy was the doctor, he was my man in the 5 heartbeats movie, so I always remembered him from that point on.

I think Deon Richmond...aka Bud or Kenny looked really good. I think he looked better from when he was on the show Sister Sister.

I was wondering who won the money on Survivor, I saw the sista at the end with Rosie, and she didn't eat what ever she gave them to eat, so I was wondering if she was the winner...glad ths won as well.

I was wondering the same thing about Puffy doing the commentary!!

I enjoyed the show as well. After hearing that it wasn't going to be an episode to say like where they are in life, I wasn't sure what they were going to do. I was like I could see the clips on Nick at Night, but it turned out to be cool after all. It was nice to see them all, and to see Peter as an adult, and I really wanted to see the twins and what they look like now.

nikki25 05-20-2002 11:31 AM

Why was I misty-eyed at the end of the show?

Because I loved the show. It was such a great time in television history. The show was important in my socialization and my life.

I truly enjoyed the Cosby Show Reunion.

Here are my comments:

1. I do think that "Russell and Anna" are a couple in real life. They appeared rather comfortable. They were in each others arms like an old married couple. Or, they are just really close friends...which is possible among that age set. The grandfather did age...life progresses in ten years...and with it...the challenges of getting older.

2. I was clapping in my apartment when they showed Peter. I was waiting for that (as you may remember from a previous posting..Peter is my favorite non-Cosby kid). I was also elated to see Deon Richmond (bka "Kenny").

3. Keshia looked wonderful. She looked so poised. You can definitely tell that she went to Spelman. She had such confidence and was humble in everything that she said. Her maturity just struck me.

4. I was displeased with Tempestt Bledsoe (bka "Vanessa") and her referring to Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad as "Bill and Phylicia". Maybe it is just me, but I think that it showed a little disrespect for her elders. Even Phylicia called Bill Cosby "Mr. Cosby".

5. Theo has matured. He's definitely looking "man-ly". It would have been nice to see Cockroach. Although we saw him, Carl Payne for many years, it would have been nice to see him outside of the bufoonish character he played on Martin. I would have liked to see his "real" side.

6. My heart was leaping when Bill Cosby presented Phylicia Rashad with the two dozen yellow roses. ...and that he made mention of her importance on the show as his "catcher" and the more serious actress, which she was. At that point of the show, I was really feeling for Phylicia Rashad. She has been through so much, and continue to lift her head amidst the tide. Her on-screen and off screen personas are the epitome` of Black womanhood.

7. Why was I having a hard time with Raven Symone`? I felt like she wasn't a "real" Cosby kid..but more of a visitor. Maybe it was just me.

8. I overall enjoyed the reunion. It was the best time in television history....a time not to be forgotten. The show itself won numerous awards. Including Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series (84-85) as well as awards for writting and directing. Its biggest award the hearts of millions whose ideas were changed as a result of the show.

OneOneTwo 05-20-2002 02:18 PM

Maybe its because I'm young but I didn't know that Phylisha Rashaad was pregnant during one season of the show. I looked at the clips they were showing and sure enough I can see it now. And that "cut a hole" in the bed thing is something I never would have thought of. Technology is an amazing thing now that we can used it.

I'm not sure I would call that "technology" At the time it appeared as a bad coverup. That whole season was funny to me because it was public knowledge that she was pregnant. So I spent more time laughing at all the ways they attempted to hide it--grocery bags, flowers, a huge teddy bear, and yes the "she appears to be sinking into the mattress" cut out in the bed. :D

Princess314 05-20-2002 09:19 PM

I was surprised that Clair was pregnant too, I hadn't even noticed it as a child, but then again I was like 7 years old, but even as I was older, I didn't realize it. I did however realize the episode when she seemed to be sinking in the bed.

I think the cutest thing was them showing Kiesha's audition tape, and her singing some kind of song at the end of the show.

The whole night made me wish that The Cosby Show and A Different World would come back on air. Those where shows I could sit and watch with my grandma and she would find it funny.

Boy I miss good old fashion t.v.!:(

OneOneTwo 05-21-2002 12:02 AM

I try to catch the reruns whenever possible. What BET (since it is SUPPOSED to be black entertainment televison) should do is by the syndication rights to both shows and put them back on the air. In some parts of the world, I can see A Different World and in some parts I can't. I hope that The Cosby Show Retrospective comes on again because would like to see it from begining to end. Does anybody have it on tape or could I download it from one of the fake napster sites (wait, downloading is against my principle, let me stick to borrowing)?

My thoughts:

1. Carl Payne (Also known as Cockroach) was kicked off the show because he refused to cut his hair- saw it on The Cosby Show E! True Hollywood story

2. Seeing Peter again had me ROOOOOLLLLIIIIN!

3. WHEN WHEN WHEN are they going to sell The Cosby Show episodes on tv? I am TELLING YOU that that is a goldmine! I know sooo many black folks who just wish that their kids could be exposed to entertainment like that and would shell out the money for the first couple of seasons (all the way up to Olivia- I'm sorry but she is not a real Cosby kid, and lil Missy has not aged well! I am not anywhere near old enough to be her Mama, but I wanted to grab her and wipe some of that makeup off! Just plucking her eyebrows properly would do more than all the concealer in the world!

4. Baaabyyyyy! Babbbyyyyy! That is my FAVORITE TELEVISION SCENE perhaps ever!

5. I watch the re-runs on that show on Nick at Nite and I am ALWAYS struck by the sheer vast amounts of pink and green on that show, lol. Every other episode Claire and the daughters are wearing tons of it!

6. The E True Hollywood Story had all the real dirt on the show- do try to catch it!

7. Puffy. Why?

Why? Why? Why?

Overall, when I wasn't watching the sister win on Survivor (Go head V! Can't spell her name and won't even try!) that show was so heartwarming. I would so shell out the money for DVD's!

well then HOW COME Bill did not make Theo cut that God awful tail he used to wear in the 90s.  :o

IMO, none of Theo's other friendships had that SPARK that THEO and COCKROACH shared. Plus CockRoach was serious eye candy back in the day.:D

I could not stand looking at that ugly tail, hanging from the back of Theo's head. I've always hated tails. I REALLY hate it when I see people still sporting tails  Can you believe people still have those things

Oh my goodness!!! I was sooo in love with Cockroach when I was younger. I had a huge poster of him, on my wall. My goal in life (back then), was to hunt him down, and marry him. :D
