Agreed, a suggestion of Sorority Pink 2 as a movie for viewing is a troll, its a porn film.

However, for porn films, Sorority Pink and Sorority Pink 2 are heavy on plot. The producers put much more effort into knowing about sororities than the sorority slasher movie people did. Both advisors and alumnae are dealt with, the sisters although hypersexed are played as having a sororital bond that isn't sex related....

(I think there is a Sorority Pink 3, but it has a different cast than SP & SP2)

LOL I just have to bring this back up coz I just saw a movie in VH1 during their "movies that rock marathon"...I think it's called Friends Forever, and its about this freaky girl trying to take over this "perfect girl"'s(played by Shannen Doherty) life. The story line isn't really focused on sorority life but Shannen is in a sorority and they show a pinning ceremony (which the freaky girl interrupted, i dont remember the actress' name) and shows some scenes of living in a house, but also there's a scene where Shannen supports one of her sisters because she was scared she was pregnant. I've seen this movie too many times because they put it on vh1 so often.

GeoffZ 06-03-2001 10:29 PM

gammazetagrl,

I've seen "Friends Forever" a thousand times too. It's always on VH1. That pinning ceremony scene cracks me up. The worst part of the movie, though, are the scenes where Shannen sings. She sounds terrible.

Does anyone know any video stores that carry Fraternity Row? I want to see if but I can't find it anywhere!

gammazetagrl 06-04-2001 10:13 PM

I would suggest Hollywood Video just coz everytime I need to watch an old movie for class and our blockbuster doesnt have it, Hollywood has it. another good bet is ebay of course, the world's garage sale (that is if u wanna own it)--or amazon.com,blockbuster.com.

showstopper_1908 06-06-2001 03:23 AM

Just for the record, the film Sorority House Party has nothing whatsoever to do with sororities, but it is a good film nonetheless.

gammazetagrl 06-06-2001 08:23 AM

Oh yeah for those of you looking to own a copy of Little Sister on VHS...there are a couple copies up for auction right now on ebay..real cheap too! just look under "little sister" and u kinda have to waddle through the list of babysitter club books and little sister dolls or something to find them, but they usually say Little Sister--alyssa milano or something like that. I did a search for Fraternity Row but I didn't come up w/ anything though.

Revenge of the Nerds and Animal House are truly classics. Have you noticed that in Animal House the uppity blond sorority girls who have pillow fights in their underwear (which is like sooooooo what we really do) are Zeta Tau Beta. I'm a ZTA, and always thought it was interesting that ZTB and ZTA are only one letter off.

But to other Zetas out there, a good movie to watch it The Little Mermaid. The screenplay was written by a ZTA, and a bunch of our secrets are in it. It's fun to watch and pick stuff out. e.g. lots of 5-pointed crowns, Triton has 9 daughters, we have 9 founders, etc

Anyone ever see "confessions of a sorority sister". . .I only saw parts of It, so I don't really know much about it. I think it takes place in the late 50's though

gammazetagrl 07-01-2001 02:10 AM

While I was working today (blockbuster)I came across a movie on the new release wall. We only had two copies so I guess it isn't a big title like Save The Last Dance or whatever. It's called "Defying Gravity" and what made me look at the coverbox was coz it said on the front "Some pledges are for keeps"..something like that so it made me think that it was a Greek movie.IT's a drama about a popular fraternity guy who is secretly gay and has a lover, and I guess his s.o. challenged him (Im not sure whether it was a challenge to go straight, or to reveal about their relationship) I haven't rented it yet but if I do ill let u guys know how it was.

I'm pretty sure there are at least 2 other threads started about that damn movie.

EE825 07-01-2008 03:38 AM

legally blond is based on Kappa Kappa Gamma. Our chapter at U of T has a big Legally Blond poster in the basement.

ummm what else....i saw 2 sorority horror movies...one today actually on TV called "The Haunting of Fraternity Row" and some other one a few weeks ago that I am pretty sure was called "The One".

Other than that there is American Pie Beta House (which was filmed at our school) and has Eugene Levy in it and is pretty funny if you watch it as entertainment.

There's also a movie out that I saw a preview for with Amanda Bynes in it about a sorority called Sydney White.

NO.

A huge poster in the basement does not mean the movie is based on your sorority. Sorry.

FWIW, I find it hard to believe Legally Blonde was based on ANY existing sorority despite what anyone says. Many clueless members claim that the movie's theirs, but no one's been able to actually prove it.

piphiangel314 07-01-2008 12:10 PM

I remember watching a made-for-TV movie not too long ago called "The Initiation of Sarah". It was REALLY cheesy since the sororities had "supernatural" powers. ABC Family was playing it as a horror movie for the 13 Nights of Halloween.

Hey I think thats the one i saw that i thought was called "the One"....its like 2 sororities fighting over the one and they want to sacrifice her or something like that

Actually, the poster was given to them by their headquarters because the movie was based on the sorority. I did not come to the conclusion because they had a poster in their basement. They had a big event for the movie and everything.

SoCalGirl 07-01-2008 03:46 PM

If you read the book that Legally Blonde is based on, it's Delta Gamma.

I know Fraternity Headquarters did not send all 130+ chapters of Kappa posters for the movie. Why would they send it to just one? In the book, there is a character who is a Kappa and we know Reese Witherspoon did research for her role at several USC sororities, including Kappa, but the movie is definitely not based on the organization.

It wouldn't be the first (and won't be the last) a chapter was misinformed.

I'm not a ZTA, but I don't think this movie is based on ZTA. In all actuality, Headquarters sent letters to the production companies in protest, according to a post on a ZTA forum (http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?t=96918).

ausoror 07-01-2008 05:22 PM

ah i gotcha. i wouldn't be to happy if it was my sorority in a movie like that either. i guess it is kind of like the american pie (?) movie Beta house...

I remember seeing a scene in the preview of the movie where a sorority house was featured with the letters "ZTA"... and I believe the "Z" fell off. Am I wrong?

I just clicked your link. I guess I wasn't the only one who saw the "Z" fall off. lol. :)

There's a movie from 1939 called Sorority House to be shown on TCM Wednesday morning, so I've already set my DVR. Anyone seen it? The user comments on IMDB are pretty favorable, although the plot might be a tad far-fetched. Thing is, with it taking place 70 years ago, I guess we wouldn't know how realistic or not it is.

AOII*Beta Zeta* 04-05-2011 11:17 PM

Sydney White is one of my favorite movies. It's not the best portrayal of sororities, but it's a good movie nevertheless. Funny too.

Just watched Sorority Wars on netflixs the other night with my HS Daughter. It was first aired on Lifetime. It has two moms- Courtney Thorne-Smith and Faith Ford whose daughters are now in college. One is Recruitment Chair and the other is a NPM. It was a cute movie and a good chance for me to remind her to be open minded when she goes through recruitment.

texsub 06-29-2011 05:01 PM

which film is this?

i need to know the name of a certain greek society based film -

it featured a competition towards the end -

which had a javelin throw contest (one guy threw a bent javelin)
a burping contest
a tug of war....among others

and a prom/ball of sorts where one of the lead characters was dancing with a girl with his head in her bosom and his hands grabbing her ass.

the film has a small one word name.... could anyone please tell me what it is?

DeltaBetaBaby 06-29-2011 05:40 PM

Your description is definitely Revenge of the Nerds, but that's not a one-word name.

texsub 06-29-2011 05:49 PM

yes its revenge of the nerds all right - so why the F did that guy tell me a single word name (which i could not catch) when i asked him what film it was.

Thanks

texsub 06-29-2011 06:32 PM

btw, is this part 1 or 2?

DeltaBetaBaby 06-29-2011 07:01 PM

This is the first one.
