We have seven sororities at UC: Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Theta Phi Alpha.
We have 18 fraternities: ATO, Beta Theta Pi, DTD, LXA, Phi Delta Theta, FIJI, Phi Kappa Tau, Phi Kappa Theta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Lambda Phi, SAE, SAM, SX, SN, Sig Ep, TKE, Theta Chi, & Triangle
We have 8 NPHC groups: AKA, APhiA, Delta Sigma Theta, Iota Phi Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma, Sigma Gamma Rho, & Zeta Phi Beta

Please don't be hurt if I only used letters for your org., it's because I don't know how or if you can use regular letters for Theta, Phi and some others.

I think because sororities and NPC are more rigid in trying to keep the groups at the same size (through using quota/total, etc), whereas fraternities can range from 20-100 and IFC doesn't seem a crap. I've seen fraternities with 10 guys that the national was totally fine with it.

What national fraternity had only 10 guys?

pshsx1 07-31-2009 07:32 PM

Whoa, it's 2001 already?

Anyway, it varies by campus for every fraternity. I know of a SigEp chapter with 8 guys, another with 25, mine with 70, and another with 120.

Matsimela 08-01-2009 05:25 AM

at USF we have (not including chapters that are established but are temporarily suspended or otherwise):

IFC: 13
NPC: 8
NPHC: 6
UGC (NMGC, NALFO, and other ethnic/minority/whatever the PC term is greeks) 13

Plus several other orgs that arent "Greek" but operate as if they are...but thats another story for another thread lol

LyreLove2012 08-04-2009 01:05 AM

Sororities: Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Sigma Theta, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Lambda Gamma (still in colony status)

Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Sigma Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Tau Kappa Epsilon
Apparently Kappa Sigma is coming back this fall as well.

Eight Fraternities: Kappa Sigma, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Nu, Sigma Pi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Teke, Phi Beta Sigma, and Pi Kappa Phi

Not a good guy-to-girl ratio

Small Greek system here too. All Greek orgs are governed by the IFC.

All numbers given are not up to date, but they are very close.

Fraternities
Alpha Sigma Phi ~20
Theta Tau ~16
Sigma Pi ~50
Sigma Phi Epsilon ~56
Phi Beta Sigma ~12
Phi Kappa Upsilon ~16 (local)

Sororities
Alpha Kappa Alpha ~6 (unrecognized by IFC)
Delta Tau Sigma ~13 (local)
Delta Phi Epsilon ~40
Chi Omega Rho ~13 (local)

Both Delta Sigma Theta and Zeta Phi Beta are trying to colonize.

Actually, most Greek systems have more fraternities than sororities. The fraternities don't have to follow the quota/total system and can have a much wider range as far as total members. There can be fraternities with 12 members and groups with 80 members. If a school ever gets to the point where there are more sororities than fraternities, it is not a good sign as far as the health of the Greek system.

Not to mention that the NPHC orgs you included (girls or guys) don't follow a total/quota system either.

Well DST and ZPB kinda do their own thing, so it's essentially us and Gamma Phi being "shared" so to speak with 8 fraternities. But I didn't know that having more sororities than fraternities is bad, that's really interesting.

Same here basically.

PBS and the potential DSQ and ZPB colonies don't interact with anybody else. AKA, though, loves being asked to be apart of things, though.

At Culver-Stockton College (Missouri), we have a really small school of 850 people and have about 40% of that going Greek.

4 IFC: Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Upsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Tau Kappa Epsilon
3 PHC: Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma
