AXO Alum, I'm a upcoming senior at the University of Tennessee, and last semester we were able to hear "Kristin's Story" on campus. The tri-delts and axo's put it together, and did tons of publicity for it. Our chapter made it an EXCEL program which we all went to immediately after meeting. The stadium was packed with greeks, and many non-greeks as well. The coolest part is that many of the fraternities came to panhellenic, since we don't have houses, and escorted the women from different chapters to the stadium. I was personally extremely impressed that so many greeks came out to show that we're not a bunch of beer guzzling partiers, but that we actually care about issues. Being a victim of acquaintence rape myself just 2 short years ago, this was a very good step in my healing process. I just felt a kind of peace when I started crying during the presentation and all of my sisters reached for my hand and offered condolences and comfort...along with another sorority behind me, which was a bit embarrassing, but very sweet as well. I'm a big supporter of "Kristin's Story" and I really admire Kristin's mother for being able to muster up the courage time and time again to speak about her daughter's suicide and rape in order to inform others of this danger. KUDOS Tri-Delt and Alpha Chi!!!

Unfortunately, you only think that if you go to schools where these organizations are. At my school, we didn't have any of these, and we didn't even know they existed till after graduation and my national involvement.

I'm proud to be a Tri-Delta. I don't think it's right for any soror, regardless of affiliation, to speak badly of another sorority. Each school's chapter has it's own unique character and personality, but I know that my experience as a Tri-Delt has made me an incredibly strong woman and has given me opportunities that I definitely would not have had otherwise. I would be happy to answer any prospective's questions about the sorority or pledging!
Carrie P.S. Saying that "Tri delts are sluts at my school, blah blah blah, is like saying that all women are sluts, etc. Those generalizations make the person saying them look like a prejudiced, uninformed idiot, IMHO! |

Tri Delts at Pitt were awesome when I was there. Their image was that of rich, pretty, preppy girls who partied mostly with the Delta Tau Deltas. They all seemed to have dark hair cut into chin length bobs.
I met some great sisters there during rush and I recall being happy that I was invited to their final parties but in the end I decided to go with Delta Zeta. Still, I had lots of Tri Delt friends that I thought were great http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ @~Tracy~@ Proud to be Delta-Z By the light of the lamp, by the light of the lamp, by the bright shiny light, by the light of the lamp...if you are a DeeZee, you're the best that you can be, by the bright shiny light of the lamp! Tri-Delt was probably one of the first sororities I heard of and I only heard good things! Sweet sweet girls, great house, but competative campus during rush. Rumored to be all beautiful blondes too...never a bad thing! Chapter was @ Cornell.

I have met some tri-delts who i wanted to tell to go to hell, and I have met tri-delts who I love to death and am very close to. I dont think that each chapter is different, its each girl that is different. You cant judge a chapter by two or three people in it. Havent we learned that by now http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Also I know that we want to defend ourselves and are chapter, but getting masty back only makes you look just as ignorant sometimes. |
I have many friends who are Tri-Delt and they are very strong at LSU.
|
This is addressed to the people that have called my sorority a bunch of sluts, so getting attention from guys is being a slut, a rumor gone wrong is being a slut, having a guy talk trash on us for probably no reason is a slut, sorry if my sorority has pride, is social, can party with the best of them, and still get stuff done, next time maybe try being friends with a Tri-Delt and most importantly don't believe stupid rumors, that was for highschool, I know I came to college to learn, grow, and become more enriched, maybe you should try that too!!!

I just wanted to bump this topic to the front and see how Tri-Delt did during this past fall rush, here at UCSD we did awesome, all chapters on my campus got quota, greek life at this UC could actually be really fun in the coming years......;)
|
I've heard that Tri Delt is a very strong sorority nationally and has a sisterhood with loads of energy. Katie Couric is my fav.
We never had Tri-Delt at school so I really cant say in that regard. I did briefly meet a Tri-Delt one time at a party at U of I. and I wasnt that impressed. I also met another online and didnt have a great experience there, but then I did chat with a cool Tri Delt from Canada. |
The Tri-Delts here don't really impress me...I've met a couple of cool ones, but in general, the chapter here tends to be the more stereotypical "sorority girl" types.
Which isn't necessarily bad, if you look at it like that, just not my personal cup of tea, which is fine. :p |

Tri-Deltas rule! Well...my mom AND my sister are both Tri-Deltas, so I guess I'm a little parital...
Too bad there's no chapter on my campus! |
We don't have Tri-Delta at UMass, but my very good friend from high school is a Tri-Delt, and when I went to visit her down South, her sisters were awesome and so hospitable. Besides her chapter, everything I've ever heard about Tri-Delt is great, so you girls must be doing something right!!
|
Thanks for all your responses, it is amazing how much first impressions can either steer a person away or draw them in, hopefully any bad experiences people have had with other Tri-Delts were when they were having off days. Keep em' coming and have a great weekend!!!!
Delta Love,:D |
I went to Baylor U last year and the TriDelts are pretty much known as the "smart, good girls", or at least thats what I heard.
|
The tri-delts on my campus are really nice girls but their chapter is one of the two weakest in our system. I know that nationally they are considered a great house.
|
The tri delts here at Nebraska are some of the nicest girls on campus. My best friend is in tri-delt, as are two other good friends. A girl I once dated in HS is in tri-delt at Kansas State, and a girl I've known since third grade whose family are good friends is a Tridelt at KU.
Tridelts at Nebraska are a quality house--they don't necessarily stand out that much, but are a bunch of down to earth girls, attractive but not bitchy b/c of it. We have a frosh with them this thursday, so hopefully I'll meet a whole bunch more girls that won't tarnish my impression of their chapeter. |
We did not have Tri-Delt at Kent, but I have a very positive, excellent image of them because my very best friend in the world was a DDD at Northwestern.......:)

Hey guys... I just wanted to bring this thread up again because I wanted to hear more comments about my sorority. Also, I'm following the trend since everyone is doing it. I'm in L.A. so I will tell you about the houses around here.
UCLA: despite what awatters says, I believe we are a good house. I haven't really heard we are sluts but that seems to be a national stereotype of tridelt. I depends who you talk to but we are a high second tier house or fighting for first tier position. We are considered to be a friendly house and you can hardly find someone who doesn't have a friend or girlfriend in the house. I would definitely consider us a friendly, down to earth house. We do activities with the "good" fraternites, but come on its all opinions anyway. I absolutely love my house so it really dosen't matter to me. USC: has a really strong chapter and is in the top four. Sweetest girls ever and absolutely beautiful house. |
I have never met a Tri Delt. They weren't at my school.
|
The Tri-Delts here are definitely one of the top chapters on campus. They are nice-looking, have one of the highest GPAs of all the sororities, and I haven't run into one yet that I didn't like! People who aren't Greek know the stereotype and just assume that they're all like that, but they really aren't at all.
|
Tri-deltas Rock!
I love the Tri-Deltas at my school. Along with Theta, I preffed DDD and Kappa. The Tri-delts are such sweeties, always willing to help anyone out, Tri-delt or not, Greek or not. They are some of my best friends, and they seem like my sisters too though they are not Thetas!
Go Tri-Delt! Greek love, |
Thanks guys... Keep them coming! I love hearing everyone's input.
|
Tri-Delt at UA is unfortunately near the bottom, they aren't the best house. When I went through recruitment the girl that talked to me was so unbelievably rude that I dropped them right away. I've heard the name "Dumb Desperate Dogs" used to describe them. They, like the Sigma Kappa's here are kind of a mixed bunch. They have some real nice pretty girls then they have some real not nice girls we'll say. In my experience as a greek I haven't met any of them that I did not like but they didn't overly impress me either.

Another top house at FSU. I believe they are the largest sorority on campus (with around 200 girls). They have the reputation of being beautiful, blond, skinny, and partiers. They fraternity guys absolutely love them, but unfortunately I have not seen them mix very much with other Panhellenic groups. I don't know any FSU Tri Delts personally but I've had a couple in my classes and let's just say they didn't represent themselves well. They always came in very late to class together being loud and obnoxious. Then they would ask a million questions from the information that had already been clearly covered before they got there
However, I am friends with a Tri Delt at AU and she is one of the sweetest, smartest, most down to earth people I know. |
DDD at FSU
"Try a Delta- Everyone else has!" "Need a date? Try a Delta"
Those are common sayings @ FSU, where Tri-Delts are viewed as a good sorority w/ not such "Good Girls" |
Re: DDD at FSU

EXTREMELY beautiful girls, very fashionable clothes. Can criticize some of them for being too "typical sorority girl" - i.e. too focused on going out, and shopping for the latest Kate Spade bag. They definitely seem to be fun party girls, but I wouldn't say "not good girls." My roommate is NOT a slut, and neither are the sisters I've met. By the way, what the heck does your name mean? It looks like you were trying to say that you are so EXCITED at FSU (you are really enjoying yourself) but it says so EXITED (past tense of "exit," meaning leave) at FSU. Have you left FSU? ;) No hard feelings, just before you post mean stereotypes about another sorority's supposed sluttiness, you should make sure you're looking absolutely shiny and perfect yourself. "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones" |
Before I get to the point, I must say that it's rather peculiar and pathetic that all of the individuals who are posting nasty, unfounded remarks about the Tri-Delta sorority aren't even members of this forum?! They are "guests" and don't have the class or courage to even put a name behind their catty (and grossly inaccurate I might add) comments.
Although my screen name kind of reveals myself, I will nevertheless be honest with you and say that: 1) I absolutely love my sorority and it has affected my life in a tremendously positive way. The women I have grown to know and love are fabulous and command respect. They have challenged me to be a better person and 2) There are bad apples in every bunch, but I reckon we have a much smaller ratio of those bad apples than in any other given population. I think that each one of us who has been a participant in the greek system can say that we've encountered someone we didn't click with, or who rubbed us the wrong way, but I would NEVER go so far as to say or even think that it reflects on the organization or system as a whole. To assume that because one person acted a little nasty or to make broad generalizations about a rumor you heard is a sad, and very immature way to approach life, and will close a lot of doors for you. If any of you out there are genuinely interested in the rush experience or in the Tri-Delta sorority, I would be very happy to answer any questions you have, as long as you come into this with an open mind. Thanks for listening... Carrie Tridelta4ever |
Carrie,
You have to realize that when a post about a specific GLO comes up there are going to be people who really like that Organization and others who don't. Everyone is just going on their own experiences. Even you have to admit that every chapter is different, and what the people say might be true...If you had gone to another school, are you 100% sure you would have joined Tri-Delt? As you say a few bad apples can ruin the barrel, and youre right that people shouldn't judge every member by a few or by an entire chapter, however I'd like to think that we, as greeks, are more capable to look past reputations - so don't think that someone is going to make assumptions about you based on your membership...That's something that Independents are likely to do. In closing, don't take everythign to heart on this board from members or not. Just enjoy the fact that most of the posts are overwhelmingly positive. |
Betarulz,
Although I respect your opinion, I felt your post was somewhat patronizing towards me. If you got the impression that I wanted everyone to come away with the impression that everyone in my sorority is totally perfect, nice to everyone, etc. and that any negative opinion expressed is a lie/should be ignored, then you completely misunderstood. I was absolutely not directing my post at the people who are/were sharing their personal experiences - negative or postive - but rather at the select few individuals who didn't even bother to register (because they have no intention of being a member of this community) whose boring stereotypical regurgitations ("Try Delta, everyone else has" and the Tri delts are sluts and bitches comments) I do not consider to be helpful or even honest contributions to this topic. While I agree that the Greeks on this board probably know better, and can ignore these comments, I DO care what potential rushees and non-Greeks come away with from a discussion like this. It is my impression that non-Greeks are the ones who usually initiate the "What is **** like" topics, which is why it personally frustrates me when stupid/nasty comments are posted by people who couldn't care less. For the record, I totally respect the opinions of the individuals on this board, regardless of if they agree with me or not. If someone had a bad experience, feel free to post it, - in fact, I have an even greater admiration for those who have the courage to communicate an opinion that goes against the flow. Thanks, Carrie P.S. To answer your question about joining Delta Delta Delta if I had attended another school, I have to answer that by saying I feel it was my destiny to be a part of this organization, however hokey that sounds to you. |
I agree with TriDelt4ever, I beleive it was my destiny to be in this organization, it's opened up my eyes and world to many new things, I've met some of my best friends and this aspect of my life will be with me forever. Just a few of my thoughts.....
|
I had Tri Delta at the school I transferred from and we do not have it here. However, it doesn't really matter what I think of them. I think every sorority is good as long as the people who are members love it. All of our sororities stand for essentially the same principles. I mean, have you ever heard of a sorority that has a purpose that was drastically different from your own? I am sure that DDD is great!
