I know that AOII used a dorm floor in Kerr-Drummond (which were the cool freshman dorms when I went there, but now are facing a stay of execution - getting torn down as soon as sorority expansion doesn't need them anymore.) Maybe Alpha Xi will be using that as well.

There is quite a bit of residential housing in the Greek area of campus. With all of the recent Greek construction, it seems Greek groups are having success securing those lots for demolition. (The new Farmhouse house is A.MAY.ZING. The house mother's garage has a hydraulic lift that lifts up her car and there is a basketball court underneath. Great use of space. I am friends with one of the alums who was the fundraising lead for that housing project.)

The Alpha Xi members will be housed in Patchin Hall starting in the Fall of 2015. BTW, Patchin Hall is named for a member of Alpha Xi Delta's University of Oklahoma's chapter, Zelma Patchin.

Recruitment Number

Does anyone have the number of women who registered for recruitment this August?

Did the number increase from last year?

FSUZeta 08-10-2014 09:51 AM

On the Ok. State Pi Phi website on their twitter they welcomed over 900 PNMs.

OldOleMiss 08-10-2014 10:02 AM

Thinking about you today FSUZeta! Fingers crossed and lots of positive thoughts for niece-- it does only take one! :-)

FSUZeta 08-10-2014 10:12 AM

Thank you all for your support. I will update when I hear something.

FSUZeta 08-10-2014 10:31 AM

Good news! She has an invitation!!

carnation 08-10-2014 10:37 AM

Yessss!!!!

OldOleMiss 08-10-2014 11:05 AM

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sciencewoman 08-10-2014 11:11 AM

That's wonderful news!

DeltaBetaBaby 08-10-2014 11:24 AM

It's so interesting for me to imagine what it would be like going to a single pref under the RFM (i.e. more or less sure bid) system. While nothing is ever 100%, and I'm sure there are still nerves, how different that must feel from the days when you really could do everything right and end up bidless.

pmdal 08-10-2014 11:27 AM

OSU RFM

Per the 2014 Recruitment booklet for OSU, if you attend all events that you are invited to and maximize all selections through the fourth round (preference) - guaranteed a bid! Yea!

pmdal, thank you for finding that. I am breathing easier. Even though niece had only one party to attend yesterday and today, she was fortunate that it was to one of her favorites. SIL said niece is really happy. I think the pref. parties begin later in the afternoon. If I hear how it went, I will let you all know.

Isn't this chapter a legacy chapter for her? If so, that's a very good sign.

Okay, so I'm dumb with this. How do you particuarly look for tweets specific to Oklahoma State University Bid Day or even recruitment? Thanks.

On your twitter home page there is a search function. Bid day at OSU isn't until tomorrow though. (And OSU Panhellenic publishes the bid lists!)

Katmandu 08-10-2014 03:22 PM

The original Alpha Xi Delta was next door to the Gamma Phi Beta house, catty corner from the side of KD and facing DDD. It was a pretty French provincial style house and much smaller than other houses. After they closed in the early 80s it became a fraternity house. It would be cool if this was their temp home.

Where is the AOPi house? Stillwater isn't as landlocked as some other campuses, although orgs have to purchase multiple small homes to make it work.

Also...YEA for FSUZeta niece!!

Lovethesand 08-10-2014 03:44 PM

The AOII house is on 4th St near Pi Phi.

I took those pics of the front elevation from the Pi Phi driveway, if that helps.

The completed AOII Oklahoma State home looks better now than it's original drawing with twelve columns.

Griffins&Quills 08-10-2014 06:44 PM

I'm not sure if the house we're using is our original house but the address is 1415 W. Third Ave if that helps

irishpipes 08-10-2014 06:48 PM

That location is correct for the original AXiD house and it matches Katmandu's description.

DubaiSis 08-10-2014 06:56 PM

Looking at Google earth, it looks like the location is good, but maybe a 3rd floor needs to be added to make it compete. Who owns that house?

irishpipes 08-10-2014 07:05 PM

I don't know who owns it. I think TKE was in it for a while?

Griffins&Quills 08-10-2014 11:40 PM

If it is indeed our original house, that's a cool piece of history, though I hope we can get something a little more updated for our permanent house

Congrats to her! The Zeta house is a stunning 1920/30's Tudor directly across from Theta pond.

Also 1415 third sounds right for the original AXi house. It was a pretty house, built in the 60's and new to them when they came on campus. Dean Thelma Patchin, dean of women was instrumental in bringing them on and fought their closing with all she had, but the numbers weren't there in the 70s. She's smiling from heaven for sure!

Thanks irishpipes, I can picture exactly where AOPi is! It is a looker!

Griffins&Quills 08-11-2014 11:16 AM

I'm just excited we get to recolonize a big chapter and can't wait to hear how it goes!

Lovethesand 08-11-2014 12:21 PM

Per @OkSUPanhellenic on twitter "709 PNMs became new members today".

PhiMu_Mom 08-11-2014 12:30 PM

WOW! How many were registered?
