Well then, that's the whole issue most likely
|
Well, hoping the remaining 4 she has are welcoming of transfers. I get that they want a girl to be involved for as many years as possible, but I know she planned to be involved all 3 years at Mizzou.
|
It only takes one to get a bid so she just needs to hang in and be open to all opportunities. I know that's sometimes easier said than done but it will work out.

NM, I really know nothing about recruitment other than it is stressful for daughters (and moms secondhand). My own Debbie's made me want to drink religiously. Reading the posts on this forum it seems you don't want to readily identify yourself (PNM) or your daughter. The information you've posted about your daughter may easily identify her to actives who do read this forum. I wish her the best of luck. |

I hope everything works out for her! |
In NorthernMom's absence, some judicious editing on my part to help her daughter maintain anonymity.

Oh, thank you!! I hadn't even thought of that. Just trying to get a better sense of things to help support her.

Mizzou rush update--round two
Quote:
You asked for updates from Mizzou: My daughter is rushing there. They are finishing round 2 today. Don't know #s but have heard that cuts were pretty big on first day (each house has to cut a certain percentage each day, correct?) My daughter heard of people who went back to 11 of 11 possible houses for this round, but there were also girls who only had a few houses on their schedule for round 2. She did not have a totally full schedule, but went back to quite a few. She's returning to all of her round 1 favorites, which is great, and also found another house that did not stand out in round 1 but that she really liked this time. Interested to hear how she likes the houses she is visiting today. Let's call the houses she likes the best so far by these names (please don't read to much into this--I just picked some characters at random from a mythology book): Athena Freya Kwan Yin Gaia Tara She went to Tara and Gaia yesterday, along with some other houses. Today she'll visit Athena, Freya and Kwan Yin. After round one, Athena was her fav. We'll see how she feels after finishing up today. Has anyone heard #s re: how many girls have dropped out or been released? I heard that one group of girls got released for skipping a party in the first round. |
There will always be rumors rampant. My advice is to not pay any attention to the rumors and tent talk. ETA: if a PNM does not attend all the parties to which she was invited, she will be released from recruitment.
Release figures typically are NOT made public during ongoing recruitment. There may be some data at the conclusion of recruitment, when all bids have been issued and the dust settles, but no specifics. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about this statement. |
Thanks for clarifying that AZTheta. It makes sense that they would not release those numbers during recruitment.

So many PNMs
After the first round, the ladies had to narrow the field from 1900 to 1100. Tomorrow, it's reduced to just over 400. WOW. That's brutal. Good luck to all the moms with daughters fighting the heat and STRESS in Columbia. The end result will be worth it! It's an incredible greek system!

In addition, MoFan's "math" makes no sense no matter how one tries to explain it: 400 bids only? No. 400 for Pref? No. 400 per chapter? No. Just no. No, no, no, no, no.

Hope all the girls (both PNMs and actives) have a great Round 3 today!

So, either these numbers are, as others have said, made up according to your own calculations, OR you are disclosing private chapter information that only applies to one of the chapters at Mizzou. Those familiar with the process would be able to make some assumptions based on the numbers you provided. Lastly, disclosing the release numbers for a specific chapter can be extremely misleading to PNMs and moms going through the recruitment process right now. RFM works so well because it carefully calculates everything so as to maximize the placement of PNMs into new homes! |
I'm not entirely sure MissouriFan's numbers were completely off base, considering Mizzou had two more rounds after that (philanthropy and preference) and they had to reduce 1900 PNMs to "around" 100. I also realize regardless of whether those numbers are accurate or not, she should have kept that information to herself. However, is it necessary to spew venom and make snarky comments? Let's assume she's a mom/grandma/aunt whatever whose daughter was keeping her updated (right or wrong) and she didn't realize it was a no-no to put those stats on here. I think there is a friendly way to let her know that. There's really no need for profanity or reprimands. If you read her comment, it did not seem mean spirited in the least.

Are there new words that are profanity???? Because I didn't see any.

Well bless your heart LoveMyBullDog. If this exchange is "spewing venom" and "profanity" then you should probably back away from the intrawebs.

The LAST thing we need is a whole lot of gossip/misinformation/rumors being spouted as fact. |

ETA: AFAIK, release figures for each chapter are never made public. |
And usually only a few in the chapter, along with the alumnae advisors are in the know with actual numbers.
