8/20 is amazing! I'll take those odds!

Only 3 left!

Miss Iowa - Carlyn Bradarich - Gamma Phi Beta

I understand they are nervous, but some of these answers are dreadful. Do their coaches not work with them on this? Only two of them had decent answers.

Xidelt 06-08-2014 10:40 PM

Why is Rumer Willis a judge?

honeychile 06-08-2014 10:42 PM

I'll be honest - I don't think that political questions should be asked. Ever.

Why is Karl Malone a judge? I'm not sure half of these people are qualified to watch Judge Judy, let alone adjudicate a national beauty pageant.

Agree on the ineptitude of the answers in general. You would think that every girl would have a go-to opinion on all current events, but apparently not.

ASUADPi 06-08-2014 10:46 PM

Well here on the west coast, they are just announcing the top 20

azureblue 06-08-2014 10:59 PM

Sorry for any spoilers, West Coast!

Fifth runner up - Miss Iowa - Gamma Phi Beta
Fourth runner up - Miss Florida
Third runner up - Miss Louisiana - Delta Delta Delta
Second runner up - Miss Georgia
First runner up - Miss North Dakota
Miss USA - Miss Nevada

IndianaSigKap 06-08-2014 10:59 PM

It was pretty obvious those last questions really didn't matter, the worst answers were the top girls. Thank goodness I just watched the last 45 minutes.

What qualifies anyone to be a beauty pageant judge?

He's a successful NBA star, businessman, and married to a former Miss Idaho USA (who's also a Sigma Kappa Honor Initiate). :)

Pretty happy that Miss Nevada won. :-)
I'd had six or seven on my shortlist, and Nevada, North Dakota and Louisiana really stood out to me.

Karl Malone is from Louisiana. He played college ball at Louisiana Tech. I'm sure they asked him because the pageant was in Louisiana.

Elizabeth Dyer, National President of Chi Omega, was a Miss America judge in 1964 when she was Chairman of NPC.

Okay, now I am curious. Was she the only NPC Chairman to have served as a Miss America judge? It's not the day for a wild goose chase, but if someone had time on his/her hands, it would be fun to know.

I don't know, but I believe Jean Mrasek is anxiously awaiting her call. LOL :D

I couldn't find her in Gamma Phi's member database, but Auburn DZ tweeted her good luck and identified her as an alumna!

nyapbp 06-13-2014 06:50 AM

I'm not sure if this is the case with Jessica, but in researching Miss America and Miss USA contestants, there are several who may have been a pledge or member, but have depledged/resigned. Competing at that level takes time and energy and something's got to give.

Interesting reactions to Miss Indiana (Delta Gamma), Mekayla Diehl's body type:
