Haha I remember swearing back in HS (I'm a soph now) that I would NEVER own a pair of soror pants. Now I own...oh say....like 4 pairs of black pants in various cuts. They make EVERYONE look good. So what if people make fun of them? I love em! You can't go wrong with soror pants...they're a classic.

daisymargarita 09-24-2000 10:33 PM

Am I the only one who has never HEARD of these "sorority pants???"

varvette 10-02-2000 09:15 AM

Ok I have to admit, I have three pairs. I wear them so much that I actually had to replace a pair last weekend because I ripped the crotch when I was dancing. No sick comments please!!! My sorority likes to call them hootchie pants.

Zeta_Girl 11-21-2000 01:32 AM

Oh man! I can't believe there has been 2 pages of posts on "black pants" Even though I do have 2 pair, I used to have 3 but one pair got to short after I washed them. I've never heard them called any other names-"sorority pants, bitch pants, fuck me pants" well I just always thought they were black pants that everyone owned! Guess I just never put that much thought into it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

No wonder non greeks think that sororities are made up of a bunch of shallow girls...y'all just spent two pages talking about a pair of black pants...

CutiePie2000 12-06-2000 03:54 PM

I think this topic was started before the forum "Chit Chat" existed...

This thread probably belongs in the Chit Chat Forum now.

Well, black pants are a wardrobe neccessity, and they are a common topic so......shallowness rules!

HeidiHo 12-06-2000 10:17 PM

My boyfriend calls them "granny pants", because when he first saw me in them, he said they look like something his grandma would wear. Now he loves them & begs me to wear my granny pants http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

AlphaChiGirl 12-12-2000 02:01 AM

Very true. I also learned from the KKG website that Kate Spade is a Kappa.

Hootie 12-13-2000 04:04 AM

We call them Bar Pants...dunno why!
How about sorority hair? My best friend (who isn't greek) always tells me I have sorority hair! It's so funny! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

SoCalGirl 12-14-2000 03:41 AM

Sorority hair...

...when I think of "sorority hair" what I picture is "traveling consultant hair". Which seems to be between chin and shoulder length, unbelievably shiny, and always somehow looks perfect. I've got the shiny hair, I just can't seem to get the other two. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I'm jealous of anyone w/ perfect hair, too bad I don't have the patience to do much more than run a brush through wet hair. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

shadokat 01-25-2001 02:52 PM

The Daily Pennsylvanian, the newspaper at the University of Pennsylvania did the funniest article making fun of how every woman on campus owns a pair of these http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Wish I could find it.

SigmaPi 03-13-2001 02:56 AM

RUPhiSig 03-13-2001 12:27 PM

hey-
here at radford some sorority girls wear them. most guys think your a freshmen if you wear them. because most of the freshmen get decked out in black pants. i mean i wear them someitmes but its not part of the "sorority" attire here

drinknlotsNole 03-13-2001 03:00 PM

Nothing sexier in this world. Thumbs up!

prdlocal 03-13-2001 03:29 PM

My friend Justin calls them standard issues. I love to wear mine!!! Grey ones are cool too! I get mine from the Gap! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

pbear19 03-13-2001 04:00 PM

I went to Spain a few years ago before the sorority pants really became popular here in the states. EVERY girl in Spain wore them every day, only they had them in all colors, not just black. I absolutely loved them and spent hours upon hours searching through all the stores trying to find some that fit me. Unfortunately, I have a lot of curves, and Spanish girls do not. The only ones that fit my hips were way too big everywhere else. So I never got any until they came in style here. Oh well. I was almost ahead of the fashion trend!

SweetestDiva 03-13-2001 05:42 PM

Hmm... y'all are talking about these pants like you wear them EVERYWHERE... on my campus I see NPC and NPHC sorority members alike wear them maybe once a week with their jerseys.. but not much outside of that.

I love them, especially on the floor of my room. Yeahhhhh.....

SusanL5000 03-13-2001 06:43 PM

Um, I'll disregard that Nole. I have 9 pairs! Some are flared, some are bootcut, some are old...you get the idea...Anyways, I wear some of them to class, some of them to bars, some to the gym....go figure! I love them and I'll NEVER stop wearing them!

drinknlotsNole 03-13-2001 07:22 PM

Yes Susan, keep wearing them for Fratty's of America.....

GroovehustleMSU 04-25-2001 10:51 PM

I would just like to chime in here with the male perspective. I think I speak for fraternity men everywhere when I say,

"We LOVE sorority pants!"

Keep wearing them, ladies. We are huge fans.

Billy Optimist 04-25-2001 11:18 PM

YEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

three2tango 04-26-2001 12:35 AM

This is so funny, I ran accross my first pair today in my closet. I was cleaning it out for the Goodwill drive we have during greek week.

I got them my freshman year at the limited. They are fabulous. They are made out of the best material, never wrinkle, if you spill(and you will) it dries in 15 min flat and they go with everything.

I always called them my party pants. I know they are old and I haven't worn them in 2 years but it is kind of like throwing away the tiffany's box and pouch.....I can't bring myself to do it!!!!!!!!!!

RedHotChiO 05-23-2001 05:45 AM

In my chapter we call them TABs (Tight Ass Booty-Pants). I don't wear them though. Call me weird, but I have issues wearing black pants. I just prefer khaki and grey.

SSS1365 05-23-2001 08:56 AM

I never heard them referred to as "sorority pants" before... lol. But I guess just about every sorority girl here has them too. I love mine!

UMgirl 05-30-2001 01:21 PM

Ive heard sorority pants, booty pants, black pants, hoochie pants etc. I bought my first pair in high school because i was a dance major (arts HS) and they were good for that. Got to college and wewent out on night. Swear to god every girl we saw was wearing them. I had no clue it was going to be an epidemic. But here at Michigan you "have" to have at least four pair.
1 for jogging
1 for working out
1 for wearing to class
and 1 for going out.

and they dont have to be boot cut. can be straught or flare and we wear them with anything from sneakers and sweatshirts to heels and backless. black zip boots too.

gammazetagrl 06-01-2001 09:45 PM

Even in my high school they were called "sorority girl pants"...I think the term was coined from the girls who had older sisters that were in sororities. Anyway I got my first pair at Carson Pirie Scott for 20.00 (clearance) and it had the Currants brand label. Now that I'm more.."independent" i should say (coz of my part time job, lol)I get mine at Express..I did buy one each at victoriassecret.com and guess.com but only coz they were on sale. Im a person who likes to get the most out of her money (hey we're in college!)and I am a real sale hunter at the top brand name stores...so no one really knows how much (or less)I paid for my stuff until i tell them...a real fashion girl's secret =)

SSS1365 06-04-2001 09:21 AM

I only ever see people wearing them either to go out, or with a nice top for badge attire. I don't see people wearing casual shirts (like sweatshirts or t-shirts) with them.

James 12-27-2004 09:27 PM

Are these things still around?

Tippiechick 12-27-2004 09:42 PM

Tailored black dress pants? Yes. I doubt they will ever go out of style if they are what I think. I get mine from Express.

KDwxgrrl 12-27-2004 09:59 PM

Wow, great thread.

Yeah, they're still everywhere, complete with their summertime cousin, the white cropped pants ;)

LightBulb 12-27-2004 10:18 PM

Wow!

These have been a staple since high school or, more likely, junior high. I've always heard em called "black pants"... everyone just knows what they are.

I love them. :D But often they get so loose after washing... :(

orchid2 12-27-2004 10:27 PM

I've also mostly heard of them being called "going out pants" or simply "black pants." A lot of the girls I know wear the express editor pants when they dress up for class, and the more stereotypiccal sorority pants for going out.

LightBulb 12-27-2004 10:47 PM

Old Navy's black pants are comfy, and you can usually get them with some cute variations (like pinstripes).

KDLady00 12-27-2004 11:25 PM

I get mine at the Express too because they have them for short people like me! Im out of college but I still wear mine as daily wear! We called them sorority pants too but also our "Blacks" does anyone else called them your blacks?
