OOOOHHHHH! ree-Xi, you know what I'm gonna say, right?

Panhell love to you.

Ah, hubris. Lol indeed, Kairos. Good luck. At the library. Which is where you belong. I spent a lot of time at the Bancroft library, although I do love the beauty of Doe, just not conducive to my needs back in the day. You have 28 other libraries to choose from, so get you a campus map and find one and move in.

As Sen would write, "We got letters. You got dreams." I'm thinking it was Sen who used that. And I believe that Kairos's problem will resolve itself by the second round.

text from my OP:

"However, after taking a summer class which I'm confident I will get a good grade in, my cumulative GPA should come out to around a 2.6, which meets the specific house-set GPA cutoffs for all but one house at my school. Nonetheless, it's still low/not a 3.0."

aren't most berkeley house GPA cutoffs higher than that?

:P

i deleted most of the text because i started to feel that this thread was becoming an increasingly hostile environment ("we were playing nice. big mistake." testifies to this), one that was also deviating from the purpose of the thread (like page 2). i'd rather just not deal with it anymore. i appreciate all the advice and tips that have been given, but there's no need to overreact and attack me beyond that.

AZTheta 05-07-2014 09:40 PM

Why are you arguing? You should be at the library.

kairos 05-07-2014 09:44 PM

i'm not arguing...i'm just responding to what you said. please calm down lol. and i am at the library.

AZTheta 05-07-2014 09:46 PM

Yeah, you are arguing, and if you're at the library, why are you wasting time on GC when you should be improving your grades? You want to be in a sorority at some campus somewhere, then pull up your grades!

PS I don't need to calm down, I'm not excited - I'm amused. There is a difference.

kairos 05-07-2014 09:47 PM

this is cute

AZTheta 05-07-2014 09:48 PM

TROLL is back! YES!!!!

kairos 05-07-2014 09:49 PM

not trolling here. just not phased by melodrama.

AZTheta 05-07-2014 09:54 PM

You mean fazed, not phased. Library has dictionary. So does Internet.

And it's now firmly established that kairos has to have the last word, which is why she has a <2.0 GPA and she's on the internet, not studying, and … well, okay. Good luck, dear. Like I said, your problem will resolve itself by the second round.

I was just showing a sample of how high GPAs at some places could be. ;)

Hey everyone -- so I decided I'd wait another year to rush since I'm planning on staying an extra semester or two. Would the sororities view me as a sophomore still in that case, since I'd be open to them for 3 years?

Titchou 05-16-2014 01:11 PM

The University determines your class standing. So whatever they tell the chapters you - that's what they think you are. So you will have to try to combat that thru conversation - over and over - so that they know your intentions.

It depends. Official class standing is usually based on how many units/credits you have completed. Like Titchou said, the university will tell the chapters your official class standing based on your transcript.

Some people consider number of years completed to be an indicator. So, if it's your second year, you would be in your "sophomore year". HOWEVER, tread carefully as it can look really bad to be in your sophomore year but still not have passed enough credits for sophomore class standing.

My advice here is to not fib or bend the truth. Let's say that you are a junior, which would normally put you with two years left. You decide to take a minor and stick around for an extra year. You do NOT tell sororities that you are a sophomore. In the example, you would be a junior with three years left.

I hope I made some sense.

Unless you're doing so in hopes of raising your GPA, why would "staying an extra semester or two" be a reason to "wait another year to rush"?
