How about FEbruary 9 th everyone? ITs like 17 days away. The 2nd is too soon. And I don't have the attention span to be interested in meeting anyone after that . . lol.
So far that meets the people's requirements that have said something. |

Ya'll are making me so homesick!!! I miss living out on LI and my frequent trips to Ithaca as well....living with the fam in Florida is icky. And college life in PA right now is not tops on my list either...
|
Where do you go to school Michelle how far away are you? From Philly and NYC?
|
James, I was thinking the same thing about you! ;)

NJers might take NJTransit to Port Authority?? I dunno the system really but I know buses leave from there as well as Greyhound. matthewg where do you go to school in good old Ithaca? |
I'm fine whether its in the city or jersey.
Did we set the date? The only dates I can make are Feb 16 & 23. |
Michelle,
I' m working at Cornell. Nice place. The hills around could be bigger though - I want to go skiing..... Thanks for the Hoboken-tip xok85Xo!! |
OK, let me answer a few things here. On the 9th, I'm game. Got a D Phi E thing on the 16th and other plans on the 2nd. Just let me know where and how to get there. ZTAMich, if you're in the Lehigh Valley and want to come, I can pick you up. My family lives there, so I know you're not far from me. And then we can just zip over to Trenton and get the NJTransit train up to the city. If you want to do that, PM me and we'll figure it out.
Cream, I want to meet my D Phi E girl too, so we're cool! James, if ZTAMich doesn't need my assistance in the ride, we could do the train up. You take the train to 30th Street in Philly, I'll meet you there and we can take it together to the city. It's pretty cheap and not horribly long...I've done it before. So folks, let me know where and if anyone wants to meet up with me to head up there. If anyone's nearby and needs a ride, PM me and we'll figure it out. |

I am so excited you are moving out here!!! If you need any help getting situated or just someone to haul boxes and unpack... let me know!!! xo luv Sue |
Can you delayed it till July. If I start rowing, and if there is no tropical storm or hurricanes, I'll be able to make it by June or July.:D ;) :p

Xo-sue can you make it?
Redangel, is there any way you could make it on the 9th (also we can obviously meet again lol) because getting later into Februaru conflicts with preperation for a conference in Cherry Hill . . |
ok, so has a clear date been et yet for this?????
|
Its looking a lot like February 9th . . . . . We still need a place.

Hmmmmm, I'll be home in July for about a month. I hope ya'll plan on having another GC gathering 'cuz I am VERY jealous right about now. ;) |
James,
Sorry, that's the worst weekend (both saturday and sunday) of the month because of youth and sorority events. I wish we were doing this another month (like March/April). I know everybody is going to have a good time! I just wish I could be there! I hope we can plan to do this again later on in the year! |
Wow!
I do believe I've created a monster with this thread! :D
I think right now the 9th or the 23rd of Feb will work the best for me...but if not, we should definitely schedule another greekchattin' convention soon - kudos on that idea to RedAngel! :D Serenity, I was thinkin' you were still in the area and might make it... :( but I'll still be here in July! As far as coming into NYC, I've heard the best way to do it from my neck of the woods is to travel into Hoboken and go into the city from there. Ooooh, this is so neato! :D Finally get to put faces to some names.... *hugs* |
Alright ya'll:
Two things we need to decide: Hoboken (or other place outside NYC with train station) or NYC. Place in either location: It should be easy to find from the train station . . if that is how a lot of people are coming. Suggestions? |

The Boston Coalition would like to throw total support at jah - but NJ is a long freaking ways away. We're talking 4 hrs to NYC as it is . . . another few to hoboken, and it's a whole weekend. PLUS - the 9th is Mardi Gras . . . so i might be in NO either way. So . . . I say, come up to Boston - OK, well I realize that's not feasible, but god damn it would be fun if you all did . . . Anyway - in leiu of that, I'm in, and so's KSigKid, if we can get there reasonably . . . so yall decide, and we'll venture there. Then, we'll party like rockstars - this is not open for debate. |
my suggestions...
my vote still stands for NYC.
it's the center or all the other places. especially if boston people come! everyone should be able to find a bus or train that ends in the city. here's my suggestion: we could meet up for an early dinner (it gets crowded and with a big group we'd have a long wait if we go too late) and then head to a bar and just chill for a while. i've got plenty of ideas and i'm sure i can get more from friends. i think we could get to know each other pretty well doing dinner and drinkin!:D |
Alright that sounds good from my viewpoint . . . I just hate being carless. . . its like being in the wild west without your horse to get away on. Although hrmm if some of us are statying the night we have to have a place to stash overnight bags . . . . other than the trunks of our cars.
|
Suggestion...
Hi everyone! I'm not able to make the NYC GreekChatters meeting but I have a suggestion for your dinner.
There's an awesome Greek restaurant (Greek like Greece, not like GC!) on 114th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues called "Symposium". Great atmosphere, incredible food, cheap prices. And, there are some fun bars nearby where you could go after you eat. I make it a point to eat there whenever I visit NYC. This isn't a "trendy" place or anything (I haven't lived there in 10 years so a couple of generations of trendy restaurants have come and gone in that amount of time!), but it's popular and if you enjoy Greek food you can't go wrong! Talk among yourselves... :) |
I'm up for the nyc get together. count me in. james was saying something about the 23rd? I definitely would need a place to crash if possible.
|
Wow!! Now Boston might be in the house too :) VERY cool! Just please let's decide soon, as I don't know if I want to be carless yet or not. Like James, I would rather have my car, if for nothing else but to sleep in ;) (KIDDING!)
So let's decide where folks :) Hoboken is really cute y'all!!! |
My vote is for Hoboken...
...depending on what time we want to meet up!
|
Hoboken would be easier here also . . . can the City Dwellers get to Hoboken?
|
My vote is for New York City!
|
Cream, your PM ability is off, how unsociable, so let me repeat the message here.
Where would be a good place to meet in NYC or Hoboken? Hoboken may be easier to travel to for those of us that have farther to travel . . |
How do I turn on the PM ability?
How does a bar sound? There are dozens of bars on the East Side or even downtown. |
Quote:
Trace- I'm counting Maryland as "East Coast" so you should get your butt up here too!!! :) Sue |
My vote is for NYC as well.
|
Hoboken or NYC it's all about 4 -4 1/2 hrs drive for me.
I would be more concerned about a place to crash Saturday night. Cheap, that is..... like KSigRC said. Parking in NYC is a bitch, too. So why don't some of us meet in Hoboken, take train into the city together and meet the rest of the gang?? We find out the right time to meet and decide on a place in Manhattan to meet with the rest, so that, if somebody misses the others, can catch up lwith us later. And then we find something to sleep outside the city. How late do the trains/busses run from H. to Manhattan? |
ok, I hope yall don't mind but I am going to be a little decisive right now.
No? Ok continuing: Unless otherwise arranged, the meeting will start in Hoboken to make sure that its easy for people attending to get hotel tooms. Lets start getting hotel rooms and deliberately laying some plans that center aroung places near the train system, maybe scouting some restaurants near it. We can still ride into the City for those of you that want. Plus those of us staying overnight have Sunday to hang out also . . . . Anyone who wants to crash on the floor of the suite is welcome to it. I don't share beds. However there is a pretty reasonable chance that I will not be attending, I am kind of bored with GC right now, but I will still do some research for you guys on the best places. |
James is coming, even if I have to go to his school and drag his 4'5" dwarf self by the hair. So shush now James and just plan on it :) Besides, you can share the bed with me and Cream, right?? Isn't that what we discussed? :D
