My sophomore year I lived in an apartment on the first floor. My first floor neighbor and I both had Mexicans living in the two apartments above us--I don't say that to be racist or anything, I mean literally they were from Mexico, and they used to play their Mexican music LOUDLY where you could hear it no matter which of their apts it was coming from. The ones above us had sex ALL the time and the TV was often loud. They also had a very loud system in their car and they would park it outside our back window (that was where the parking spots were) and jam out to some funky Mexican music that was so loud our windows literally rattled from the bass of it. It was pretty pathetic that you could always hear them coming home before they even got to the drive that goes into the parking lot  EESH!

OK-Some of you may recall I can not STAND my neighbors!!!
The other day, my son and his friend were painting the house and they put some music on. Not MY choice of music-Soundtrack from 8 Mile(s) ??? Anyway-SHE comes home and about 10 minutes later sends her son over and he talls them to turn the music down-it was NOT that loud and the lyrics were NOT discernable past 3-4 feet. Now here's the clincher-HER son has a band (at least that 's what THEY call it.) I have had to listen to him on the DRUMS hours on end and their group practice STINKS-their vocalist couldn't find a note if you handed it to him! and the rest of them...well, I don't think NAPSTER would have allowed them on site! Did I ever complain-NEVER! Because I feel music is so important and would never hamper their self expression.
The ONLY reason she sent her son over was to subject us to her
whims. We have a business relationship with her parents. If that EVER changes, I'm gonna blast her off the street-up one side and down the other. To HELL with social niceties...she won't know what hit her. This has been going on for 7 'frickin" YEARS!!!

I wouldn't say that I have noisy neighbors. My neighbors are potheads so if the wind is blowing just right and our windows are open we get a nice wiff...

I don't necessarily mind my neighbors, it's just that the walls seem thin. I can hear when my neighbor uses her shower or garbage disposal...etc.

And then the guy that lives above me...he's not a huge guy by any means but he must walk very forcefully because it always sounds like he's stomping on his floor. And then some nights I'll be peacefully enjoying a show on tv and BAM, something in his apartment drops and you can hear it roll across the kitchen floor. I dunno what his deal is, but he's a little odd.

To add to it, he's got this stupid car that he's obviously put some money into as far as a muffler and exhaust and all that stupid stuff (no offense men). Anyways, he has a timer on his car. So when I first moved in he'd get out and I'd hear this car's exhaust rattling and muffling away and thought to myself, "Jeez get outta your car already" only to look out the window and not see anyone there. It would be on timer for (and I kid you not) TWENTY FIVE MINUTES! I'd lay in bed listening to that damn thing at 1 am in the morning. Finally when I had some guy friends over, who know a lot about cars, they asked how long he had it on timer for and he said 6 minutes (speaking of which, there he goes right now)....so he finally did calm it down!

Sheesh!

I've never had super noisy neighbors, although I think I have been guilty of being one before...

I'm moving this weekend though... to a downtown loft/apartment building. Word on the street is that half the guys who live there are deejays... and like to play very late. When you call the building's offices the message actually says, "If you are calling to inquire about a loft, press one... if you are calling with a noise complaint, press two..."

I think it will be fun though... you're only young once!
