Wish you the best! We could probably do the same here in Florida if we didn't have everybody driving 35 mph in the left lane where the posted speed limit is 70 mph. . .

In other words, I really don't think we have a chance since we'd need some 15K signatures. I honestly don't know how many Sorors we have in the state.

Keep us posted!

ooh...i thought Ohio was bad:eek: thank you for the well-wishes. from your lips to God's ears:D

If that aint the dayum truth!!! I think we have enough to get some type of tag or really cute sticker or sumtin! Flawda is big state...it should have been done.
If it takes $60,000 from 15,000 people.. if my math serves me right that's only a $4 dollar donation....

*yelling at the top of my lungs and squirming on the floor like a spoiled child* Sumtin has to be done! I want my tag!!

Hmmm, I remember signing that petition for an AKA license plate here in Ohio at least over a year ago, but we still do not have one!:(

Tennessee Plate Designer

Our Tennessee plate was designed by my Basileus. Is'nt it great!... :D The pink backgrund really looks good and we can do vanity plates.

I have seen DST plates in South Carolina. I know there are others because I went to the DMV site a while ago to see what had to be done to get one (I'd love to have a KKG one!). AKA might be one of the ones listed on the SC DMV site.

At Cluster 7 conference last year the new SC plate was presented. They did say we had to have 400 sigs though before they'd start production and I think they got em. They expect the plates to be out by early next year for South Cacky. I will see if I can find a pic

Just curious, does your state require you to provide proof of your financial card in order to get a Sorority or Fraternity Plate? I know Nashville does, but my best friend in another state did not. I was like

Nashville doesnt play that though, and that's official!:D

WenD08 07-18-2005 04:23 PM

i ended the push to get an AKA plate in OH last year, unfortunately:( i met a soror from Toledo at the Regional Conf. this year who was really excited about trying again to make the plates happen. i hope she and/or others are successful, i'd really like to see AKA plates in our state...

Yes, I had to submit a copy of my financial card.
No one should play when handing out sorority/fraternity plates.

That would take a small miracle:) so I look forward to getting one in Maryland real soon;)

Conskeeted7 07-21-2005 05:51 PM

I signed the OH petition too. What do we need to do to get it going again?

My mother got her plate in the mail last week (ILLINOIS). She said it's "ok," I think it's cute though. Now, when she's gonna put it on her car is a different story. My mama is such a procrastinator! :D

If she has a new plate, isn't her old plate non-existent? (I had to turn in my old plate when I received my AKA plate. I live in LA.) It seems like she'd want to put on the new plate before she gets a ticket form the po-po. :o

MsSweetness 08-22-2005 04:20 PM

Thanks :) I'll let her know

ALABAMA AKA LICENSE PLATE

HEY SORORS

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT OR NOT BUT AN LICENSE PLATE FOR AKA FOR THE STATE OF ALABAMA IS IN THE WORKS. FOR MORE INFO EMAIL @ JAMESE@UWA.EDU OR PMM AND I WILL GIVE YOU ALL OF THE INFO.

SaintIvy 08-06-2006 05:21 AM

Does anyone know it Florida have AKA plates?

SKEEphistAKAte 08-06-2006 09:44 PM

^^ No, FL does not have AKA plates

Divalawgirl 08-06-2006 09:56 PM

[QUOTE=Ideal08]Sorors, I've wondered what states have these... you know, like your undergrad has a plate, wildlife has a plate, blah blah blah. One day I was thinking, instead of trying to come up with a personalized plate, it would be nice if AKA had a license plate. Well, look at what I got in email today!! I'm going to try and find out (I have no idea how yet, lol) what all states have them! If you know, Post and let us know, too!! :)

In 2002/2004, AKA, DST, and OPP were unsuccessful, for some red neck reason, in getting license plates in Georgia. We all know there are tons of greeks here. You do the math. After that, I don't think anyone petitioned again.

And Soror Skee, doesn't look like we'll be getting one any time soon. I forgot the exact figures, but I think you're supposed to have 15,000 signatures and $60,000 to get a new plate (of any kind) or the other way around - 60K signatures and $15K. But ain't it funny that I see a new plate at least every day? I think we currently have more than 100 license plate designs.

Sophist08edLady 08-07-2006 11:38 AM

New Jersey

Sorors, do any of you know if there is a license plate effort underway in N.J.?

SummerChild 08-08-2006 04:16 PM

IL has them but alas I now live in Cali.
Will have to settle for my "Alpha Kappa Alpha 1 9 0 8" plate guard. I'm good with that. :)
SKEEEEEEEE WEEE!

Missouri

Missouri has AKA plates and they are pretty cute but I drive a '95 Neon so I don't believe I will get one until I get a new car :o

To get one you are required to show proof of membership (finanical card) and pay a donation of $25 to Alpha Kappa Alpha (which I believe has to be paid to your chapter, not nationally, so General Members cannot get this plate in MO.)

AKA Plates

I live in North Carolina and was wondering if anyone knew whether or not we have a plate for this state?

jon1856 08-16-2006 08:50 PM

While not a plate, I saw a AKA plate holder today in the ATT HQ parking lot in White Plains, NY.

TTT...

If it wasn't for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles being slow about posting this on their website, I would have posted this last month.

In time for the centennial, the state of South Carolina began issuing AKA license plates. SC also has plates for Delta, Kappa and Omega.

Dagnabbit! Now if SC has one, Florida shouda already had one!

Yeah - as I stated before, we'd have to jump through hoops to get a specialty tag:

"Legislation must be enacted to establish a new specialty license plate design. Proposals for specialty license plates may only be considered by the legislature upon compliance with statutory requirements. The Division of Motor Vehicles Procedure RS-20, Creation of A Specialty License Plate, contains the proper requirements that organizations must follow to pursue legislation for specialty license plates. Click here to view DMV Procedure RS-20.

The basic requirements are: The organization must hire an independent survey company to conduct a survey on Florida registered motor vehicle owners, an application fee of $60,000, a long-term and short-term marketing plan, financial analyses and the design of the license plate. The requirements must be submitted to the Department 90-days before the first day of the legislative session."

Uh huh. . .

Sorry you have to go through that many hoops to get a tag in Florida. But it did take the ones here a long time to get the tag. We have had ours for at least five years. But it seems like EVERYBODY can get a tag in SC (look at the website).

Funny you mention this. My boyfriend called me not too long ago and said a soror who works at his job passed along an application for the GA tag! :)

Soror, when I transferred my plates to GA this fall, I was told by the guy who was processing my app at the DMV (whose Mother is a Soror so he at least knows what AKA is) that none of the BGLOs had license plates in GA now. That's not true?

Yes! Georgia is finally getting AKA plates. I just fill out my application!!:D:D

AbsolutAKA 02-22-2008 05:36 PM

NJ still doesn't have them. You have to pass around a petition with at least a few thousand signatures that say they will get them. Then there is this deposit of like $5000.00 - it's a mess.
