Good luck to all of the young women!

Not particularly, but the chapters take grades seriously. All chapters there require a min of 3.0 HS to be considered. Hope she's not below that!

She is. Hence my "oy vey". It is heartbreaking when you know a young woman would be great in any group, and then you get the grades....

She'll have a short recruitment, but I hope it doesn't leave her completely dejected. Hopefully, she has a good first semester and can COB in spring - there is expansion going on at Murray State - or go through again next year.

I just received an e-mail "i (sic) am a sophomore at A&M and i (sic) want to rush chi o. How do I get a recommendation?"

I think I was a model of restraint. "Precious Snowflake - I suggest you ask women you know if they are Chi Omegas and would write you a rec. Bear in mind the deadline for recommendations for most sororities has passed."

I resisted the urge to write anything more biting, but boy howdy did I think 'em!

Did she ask you for a Gamma Phi rec, too? I'm sure you jumped on that opportunity! ;)

No, she didn't. I am assuming she got my e-mail from the GKAP (Greater Katy Alumnae Panhellenic) website, where I am listed as president. Had she bothered to check out our recruitment section, she would have seen I am also the recommendations contact for Gamma Phi, and perhaps not the best person to approach for a Chi Omega recommendation (although, were I so inclined, I certainly COULD hook her up with one of the many fine Chi Os I know, but hell to the no, I'm not going to at this stage of the game and with such an incredibly lame, insulting e-mail).

I am going to make certain Zeta Rhos aware of her . . .

This is my first year having girls that I actually care about going through Recruitment. Both of these girls come from non-Greek families, and I have known them pretty much since birth. In both cases the parents are very supportive of their desire to go through recruitment because they pretty much are awesome parents. To make my life more ulcer inducing... one is going to Alabama and the other is going to UF... 2 of the most competitive recruitments in the SEC! LOL After going through all the typical advice, I just ended up with follow your heart, but trust the process.

Being the faux aunt is very stressful! Let the nail biting begin!

UtOhPNM 08-06-2013 10:29 PM

I'm rushing at the University of Toledo(Ohio)!

MSKKG 08-11-2013 07:28 PM

Can't remember where this info should go, so I'll share it here. I heard that 1,587 PNMs have registered at the Univ. of South Carolina. The deadline has passed, but I'm not sure if there will be any exceptions. Looks like the NM classes will still be rather large!

SusieMu 08-12-2013 08:43 PM

Could you add me please? I went Beta Sigma Phi!

irishpipes 08-13-2013 01:43 PM

Did you switch that by chance? Last I checked, KD didn't have a chapter at U of Oklahoma.

Two of my TCU rec girls went Theta! My own chapter! This brings such unbelievable joy to me.

SWTXBelle 08-16-2013 09:36 PM

One of my Katy TCU girls went Gamma Phi - and she's Kristin Chenoweth's cousin, to boot!

That's sooooo cool! Does TCU post bid lists? I'd love to know if/where my rec girl joined.

In the past groups would take ads out in the campus newspaper. However, over the past couple of years not all groups have done this for some reason. Check
http://www.tcu360.com/tcudailyskiff. They will start publishing once school starts next week and they publish Tuesdays-Fridays.

PM me the girls name. I have a few contacts in chapters there and would be happy to ask around. In the past girls would instantly post pics to social media but I am not finding that to be the case this year. Makes it much harder to track down where all the rec girls went. (*cough still 2 I'm trying to figure out at UGA cough*)

OldAOPi 08-18-2013 12:10 AM

DD at Nebraska said there are over 1050 rushing there - biggest group she knew of. Recruitment officially starts on Monday. She said her chapter might take 45 - 50 depending on how may drop. I've had two through UNL and I don't remember numbers over 1,000 before....pretty great numbers for UNL!

Jill1228 08-18-2013 08:36 AM

I have a lot to catch up on. My laptop is being worked on now

You picked up a Phi Mu where I lost a Gamma Phi Beta! What an interesting recruitment this was. I was so bummed to lose those girls but, I can say that DG and Gamma Phi Beta just got some GREAT new sisters!
