So excited for you! I have loved your recruitment story so far, and I know there is a happy ending just ahead.

From the other posts on here, I can tell a lot of ladies immediately went to their computers this morning with their fingers crossed for you (including me). I never thought I would be pulling for "Millionaire Matchmaker" (...I think the show is vulgar), but I certainly have been for the past two days.

Looking forward to hearing how it went for you today!

Day 7: Preference Day

Today was preference day! I was so excited to be invited back to Millionaire Matchmaker! Because of "maximizing my options" if I still like MM and ranked them on my preference card, then I was guaranteed a bid! I will admit, even though MM was one of my favorites from the beginning, I was a little nervous because I was afraid something might happen or I would decide that I didn't like the house.

I headed down to sorority row for one of my last times as a PNM and received my schedule. The sky was dark and the forecast indicated rain. Although I didn't have to worry about being cut my MM, I still wanted to look my best, so I prayed for the rain to stay away, both for my sake and for the sake of all the other PNM who looked so beautiful today!

Millionaire Matchmaker - Today was much more serious and somber than the previous days. Some of the sisters sang, and it was so beautiful it gave me goosebumps; I could tell that many of the sisters put their hearts into it because they were crying. I was then paired with the same girl who rushed me for Skit Round. I was so happy to see her again! The sisters then spoke about what their sisterhood had meant to them and why there were proud to be in MM. It was very emotional and almost brought me to tears. They then played a video with pictures of their sisterhood, which was also very moving. After the presentation I was able to talk privately with the girl who rushed me. We shared both personal feelings and laughs; it truly felt like we had known each other forever. I was sad to leave, but also excited because I realized I had found my home. This week had been horrible and chaotic at times, but in the end it was all worth it. I found a house that I not only loved, but also that wanted me. I will confess that I did cry a few tears of both joy and relief that this stressful week was finally coming to an end.

Tonight I ranked my one and only house without any doubt or hesitation. I knew I belonged there. As I walked out of voting, I saw so many PNMs who were either crying or had a torn look on their face. I prayed that they too would be able to find a house they loved as much as I did!

Tomorrow is Bid Day, and it can't come fast enough!

A Few Notes

Sorry my post about preference round was kind of cheesy and cliched. I really meant everything I said though (and I think I'm extra emotional because of this long, stressful week). Thank you all so much for all of your support and prayers! It's great to have so many people on your side. :)

Also, I want to apologize for my choice of television shows! I know MM is not the most appropriate show (it's the definition of a guilty pleasure!) and I hope I didn't offend anyone!

I'm so excited for tomorrow! I will definitely reveal which sorority is my new home after Bid Day! :D

TPA85 08-18-2012 01:52 AM

Can't wait to find out who MM is!
Hope you have an awesome time tomorrow!

APhi4Ever 08-18-2012 02:19 AM

effervescent 08-18-2012 02:49 AM

I'm SO excited to hear the end to your story. Its such an amazing story it warms my heart and makes me smile.

etadrisophila 08-18-2012 08:22 AM

Dear krtxo:

Wonderful story!

Your description of your pref round does not read as cheesy and cliched. Not everyone is able to experience these emotions or has the ability/gift to write about them.

NEVER apologize for who you are or what you feel.

Next installment: BID DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZTA1550 08-18-2012 08:23 AM

krtxo, your pref post was not cheesy at all! The entire week of recruitment is SO emotional -- if anybody deserves to shed a few tears of relief, it's the PNMs who made it all the way through to pref.

We are anxiously awaiting your news. What time do y'all receive your bids?

DZsis&mom 08-18-2012 08:50 AM

This was the last thread I checked before going to sleep & the first one when I woke up.

I love love your story.

So excited to hear who your new Sisters are!!!

Have a Wonderful Bid Day!!!!!

You are the sweetest thing. You have a fantastic attitude. You're going to make a great addition to MM.

So excited for krtxo! Have a wonderful Bid Day!

AOII Angel 08-18-2012 09:09 AM

I hope you have the best bid day ever. This was the sweetest story.

xibair 08-18-2012 09:27 AM

I am touched. Great story! I wish you the best today.

homeward*bound 08-18-2012 09:28 AM

Your preference party didn't sound cheesy or cliched --- you had a magical party that few PNMs get to experience. You went into it loving the chapter and knowing you were going to receive a bid so you were able to relax and take it all in. :)

I've loved reading your journey. You've been the epitome of an open minded PNM, and I am so happy for you! I have a good feeling about which house you'll be running toward today. Enjoy your bid day with your new sisters! :D

DeltaBetaBaby 08-18-2012 09:29 AM

This is exactly what we mean when we go for the cliche "it only takes one".

Gingerdeltaz 08-18-2012 09:45 AM

I normally will not read a recruitment story until I'm sure that it's complete. (Basically because I'm a schmuck and get too emotionally invested to have to wait a couple days. I think I feel almost as anxious as the PNM. LOL!) However, your story has been the exception. You have such a marvelous attitude about recruitment, which says a great deal about you.

This is my last day with my daughter, dropping her off at college, so I won't be near a computer, but you can bet I'll be checking my iphone periodically throughout the day!

Best wishes to you!!!!!!!!!!

ASUADPi 08-18-2012 09:57 AM

I am so excited for you. Can't wait to find out who MM is.

pinapple 08-18-2012 11:19 AM

SUPER excited for you...what a wonderful experience to know as you stand there that this is YOUR house! Not something most people in pref parties get to feel....

[QUOTE=krtxo;2168741]Sorry my post about preference round was kind of cheesy and cliched. Oh, please don't apologize for your description of your pref. I know there probably a lot of lumps in throats, as that is EXACTLY what should happen at a pref, and you probably brought back a lot of fond memories.

As for offending anyone with the MM choice (...since I was the one who made the quadi-snarky post about MM), there was no offense taken at all. I was just commenting on the irony of how we were following the story of a very classy, articulate and thoughtful person who was about to join a sorority who obviously recognized and valued those qualities, and the random name assigned to that sorority happened to be a show about folks who show NONE of those qualities...lol

Wishing you and your new home a delightful bid day!

honeychile 08-18-2012 12:33 PM

Can't wait to hear the outcome!

aab225 08-18-2012 12:53 PM

I keep checking back! Dying to hear about bid day!

I think I'm a little too invested in GreekChat lately because the pref invitation post literally brought tears to my eyes.

Congratulations, KRTXO!

Day 8: Bid Day

Sorry for the wait, today was very busy!!

For me, today was nowhere near as stressful as the rest of the days of recruitment. Frankly, I was excited for recruitment to be over. I know everyone says it will be "the most fun week of your life" but it definitely wasn't for me! It was a great experience that allowed me to meet new people and learn things about myself, and I am so glad I took part in it and didn't give up! Since, I already knew I would be getting a bid from Millionaire Matchmaker, I was excited to go to my new house and begin today's festivities! Today was filled with nerves, tears, screams, and smiles - definitely a sight to see. I opened up my bid card and double checked to make sure it was actually from Millionaire Matchmaker and there hadn't been a mistake or some unforeseeable circumstance! Thankfully there wasn't, and I made my way to the MM house.

At the MM house, I met up with my "buddy" for the next few weeks who gave me my goody bag and a new shirt with Millionaire Matchmaker on it! With hundreds of sisters - both old and new - their families, and Fraternity actives and pledges, the house was incredibly chaotic. Being on the quiet side, I managed to slip through the cracks and lose my buddy. My family wasn't there either, so I really had no one to talk to because everyone else was either with their buddy, their family, or both. I started to feel uncomfortable and anxious. I began to question whether sorority life was right for me or not - it seemed much to crowded and hectic for my taste. Luckily I was able to escape to my dorm room for a few hours and collect my thoughts before we went on retreat!

A few hours later, all the new members gathered together in the house to begin our bid day retreat. One of the new members was already drunk, which made me further worry and question my choice to join a sorority. However, I remembered that there were so many other girls that would be my sisters, and she was just one of them! As the night went on things started to look up. I met so many amazing sisters - both new members and actives. I really enjoyed my time in the house, and I was once again reassured that I ended up where I was meant to be! Bid Day is crazy and chaotic for everyone, and I realized that it would not be like that everyday!! I am so blessed to have such a happy ending to tumultuous week! I can't wait for the rest of retreat and to spend the next 4 years in an amazing sorority with amazing sisters!
