Pikes here have a bit of a ominous reputation, but I think that most of the rumors are embellishments on the truth. A lot of people know "what the 'notorious' Pikes are known for" even before they are familiar with the Greek system, so I think that is why they are stereotyped. I've heard some other fraternities talk trash about them, and they say nasty rumors, so it doesn't help. I know a few Pikes, and they have been sweethearts (one of my friends is dating a Pike pledge, hottie!), but another girl I know had a really bad experience with the Pikes, so it's all relative to who you know I guess.

I grew up with one, and I married one!

My husband and I both went to Cal State Northridge, where the Alpha Xis and the Pikes didn't mix all that much (though they do now), but the first time I saw him in his spiffy Pike jacket I thought I'd never seen such a cutie! We got together a few years later at an exchange, and the rest is history. Two other couples who met at that same exchange also got married.

And my brother, one of the most decent men on the planet, also pledged Pike at Northridge but ended up transferring to UNLV fairly quickly and so truncated his greek experience a bit.

Along the way, I became a Pike little sister and have had the pleasure of meeting many, many Pikes in the years since. The Zeta Omicron guys aren't always standard-setting on all fronts, but their brotherhood and loyalty is second to none. So I'm pretty proud to say that 2 of my 4 favorite boys joined Pi Kappa Alpha, and the other 2 -- my sons -- are legacies.

All I really know about the PIKES here is that no one really goes to their parties as much b/c they usually don't have shuttles running and their house is too far to walk to. Here, the 'popular frats' are mainly the ones that consistently run shuttles to their parties to make it easier to get to. Ive heard good things though!

We had a mixer with the Pikes last week. We played lasor tag then had a party at one of the brother's house. The Pikes at my campus are very nice, were gentlemen, and are fun guys. I had a good time with them. They are building back up their chapter like my chapter is. So the numbers were pretty well even. I think we both have around 40 members. Overall, they r great guys. They want us to do an "informal" with them. I think we are planning one prolly next month.

I am very new at this posting thing, but i just wanted to say that the pikes are some of the nicest guys that I know. A lot of my friends are pikes and my sorority does pretty much everything with them. They are very well mannered and courteous and know how to treat girls right. I just wanted all of you pikes out their to know what great guys you all are.:)

I was born to be great.

Another one of my gifts.......

I bring smiles to the faces of women....

I love the PIKES. Our sorority sisters have held the reigning title of PIKE Dreamgirl forever. On our campus, they are the pretty boys. . .and sometimes they have a sprinkled few of assholes. But what fraternity doesn't. I've become really close to some of them. And half of my sisters are married to them.

breathesgelatin 12-13-2002 04:55 PM

I date a Pike... He's a cutie.... :) :)

The Pikes here are pretty wild, I would say they are "fraternity boys' fraternity boys".... But that's why we love them ;)

Edited to add: That would be the Pi chapter at Washington and Lee University.

Pike came back at my school last year. They dont have a house and actually do give bids to anyone that is interested. They have a few cool guys

chioprincess 12-13-2002 07:13 PM

Pikes

It's funny that you mention the PIKES at FSU. I used to date someone in a different fraternity at FSU (one that supposebly has nice guys etc), and those guys were really mean (I'm trying to be nice here so I wont say more ) HOWEVER! I did meet some PIKES and they were all SO sweet, one even asked me out, but I was dating someone at the time.... should have taken up the offer! any ways, I think that it's all organizations greek or not are filled with good people and bad people. It's how the organization as a whole organizes and conducts themselves. :)

Yay, another Whitewater girl!

I'm an alum, but my boyfriend was a chapter founder of Pikes at UWW :) Glad to hear they're still keeping up their good name!!!

CardinalSM 12-16-2002 06:56 PM

My dad was a Pike at Stetson (before they had their charter revoked) and he always says that it was the best thing he ever did in college. His chapter still has their bi annual Oyster Run where they just party like the good ole days! In fact, when I was little we used to have his chapter's fire truck in our warehouse, my favorite thing to do was go ride it and ring the bell!

AGDthetaup 12-16-2002 11:16 PM

not impressed

well i'm gonna hafta disagree with the fsu pike lovers out there...after hearing great stuff about them and then attending a few of their socials, i'm not impressed...there are other frats at fsu that aren't as hyped up that definitely should be over these guys....don't get me wrong, there are a handful of real "good guys", but ladies look elsewhere for a real man at fsu...

Shark In Skirt 01-07-2003 04:07 AM

The president of our chapter is actually engaged to a Pike! He bought her the biggest, most beautiful boulder of a diamond ring...

Anyway, to be honest, I haven't met any Pikes from my school (UCR) but I have had to opportunity to meet several Pikes from the University of the Pacific where they seem to have a really strong chapter. They all seemed like really (really, really) attractive, all-around nice guys... they're actually holding their rush this month! I'm sure they're going to have no problem attracting quality guys (including my ex-boyfriend).

XOXO,
Annie.
