Hootie,

I have tried V05...and it was horrible in my hair. I have more dry hair...but I cant use conditioner because it totally makes my hair so greasy - pretty weird. But V05 made it look like I hadnt washed my hair in a month! And the one time I tried it 3 people came up to me and asked if I had used V05...lol it must have been obvious ;)

Non-washed hair look huh? I think I'll pass...thanks for the advice!

I haven't had a hair cut in a while (I'm getting one in a week). My hair is really dry (doesn't help that it's Winter) and the ends are terrible. Would something like the above help?

Hootie---It's really ironic that you posted this b/c my hair has been doing the same thing. It's always been thick but soft and very shiny. I need a haircut and my split ends are making my hair look gross and it feels dryer than normal. I went to Wal Mart today and bought the V05 hot oil treatment :) I'm going to try it tomorrow and I'll report back :)

I've also heard a rumor that with age (not that I'm OLD) your hair will change texture sometimes. I've noticed my hair is a lot thicker than it once was...sometimes that bugs me because I miss my lovely thin flat hair....anyone know?

HOOTIE :D

Hot Oil has never done anything for my hair. I have tried it several times. And I guess you could say that texture changes as you get older, my hair was straight until 6th grade then became curly, now it is becoming drier (maybe b/c I dyed it for the first time about 1 years ago). It is also becoming darker-more brown than red:(

Ok, now, AggieAXO, about the relaxers. If you are talking about the same type of relaxers that Black people (I would've said women, but you know we have these Al Sharpton and James Brown characters, LOL!) use, BE CAREFUL!!!! Because some of them can have some strong chemicals, and you hair WILL fall out. My suggestion, and I'm not a cosmotologist, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night (j/k, LMAO, I am giddy today, lmao)... ANYWAY... I would buy a Just For Me relaxer. Just For Me is for children's hair, so it's milder. Test a portion of your hair, in an inconspicuous place. So this way, if it falls out, you only lose a portion, and you won't be bald. :)

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE, I WILL HAVE TO TRY THIS.

I like Aussie stuff. Doesn't fry my hair, doesn't make it greasy, smells NICE.

I'm pretty lucky - relatively low maintenance hair. It's long, medium brown/mahogany shade and pretty much straight. When I was a toddler, I had curly little ringlets, then it went stick straight and fine for years, now it's getting more body again. If I put it up and pieces fall lose, they'll curl up on their own.

My hairdresser told me to just shampoo at the roots of my hair and let it rinse through the rest of my hair. That way the ends don't get dried out. And then to just put conditioner on the ends and let it sit before rinsing it out, so the roots don't get flat. Sometimes I'll just leave a little conditioner in to fight the frizzies.

But pretty much all I have to do to my hair (besides wash it, LOL)is keep it trimmed nicely (split ends are a B*TCH!) and brush it as I blow dry it. Plus this gel that I use...

I lay down the $$$ for styling products. I get ISO multiplicity disciplining smoothing gel. If any of you have long hair that you want straight and smooth, BU Y THIS STUFF! It's wonderful. And my hair isn't flat either. Or greasy - just feels silky and soft. I love my hair. Having long hair is just so fun and makes me feel cute. :) Plus guys like it too. :)

I keep trying the salon brands and they never do it for me. Right now I really like Herbal Essences Intensive Blends for dry/damaged hair. My hair really isn't damaged but it is pretty long and I like to keep it very smooth. I use the shampoo and conditioner, and a few times a week I use the deep conditioning balm. It smells good and it works well, though it doesn't give me the orgasmic experience you see on tv!!!!!!!

So....I tried the Hot Oil thing and I'm less than impressed. Initially my hair felt very silky but once it was dry I really couldn't tell a difference. 3 days later it still feels very silky when it's wet/I'm washing it but when it's dry I feel like there is a film on it. :( I guess it's all the waxy buildup on my hair from the "hot oil" Oh well.
