^^ I really like the blue lace dress on the far left. Where did you find it, if you don't mind me asking?

KSUViolet06 04-30-2012 10:45 PM

^^^Modcloth.

^^ KSU I adore that one. That would be so cute for a first round type of party. And you could add in colors as needed depending on what your chapter typically wears (i.e. navy blue, tan, grey, etc).

carnation 05-09-2012 07:52 PM

ohhh, so gorgeous--where are the dresses from?

I love all of these outfits. They're all fabulous. I wish I could figure out Polyvore so I could do this.

Xidelt 05-10-2012 09:05 PM

Here's one I created with polka dot dresses and wedge sandals:

And one in Georgia colors that features plus size dresses:

carnation 05-10-2012 09:10 PM

I really love the polka dots!

Xidelt 05-10-2012 10:10 PM

Love that!! ^^
Would be great for AOPi or Alpha Gam sisters.

KSUViolet06 05-10-2012 10:11 PM

I've heard of Alpha Phi & Chi Omega chapters doing red as well.

southbymidwest 05-10-2012 10:13 PM

LOVE your sense of style KSUViolet! I want some of these tops and dresses for myself or my daughters, and I love the accessories and shoes! So have you ever thought about being a stylist in addition to wedding dress consultant/color consultant/anything else stylelista?

carnation 05-10-2012 10:25 PM

She needs to!

PhoenixAzul 05-11-2012 07:49 AM

You guys are bad for my budget.

Question about polyvore... can you add anything from the web or are you limited to their lists?

KSUViolet06 05-17-2012 08:04 PM

^^^No, you can add. Most of my items are things I've added. It works kind of like pinterest. You add their Clip To Polyvore button and when you see something cute, clip it.

Mevara 05-18-2012 03:12 PM

Okay, so I figured out some sites just don't allow it. (ie David's Bridal) and other sites don't use images they use flash. :(

clarinette 05-18-2012 04:02 PM

What I've done when that happens is screencap the image, crop it, then upload it somewhere else (like photobucket or something), and clip it from there. It's understandable if you wouldn't want to deal with that much work, but there is a way around it.

Mevara 05-18-2012 05:31 PM

Thanks! I hadn't thought of that.

Xidelt 05-19-2012 07:45 PM

Polyvore is so addicting! School's out for the summer, so I've been playing.

KSU you should be the recruitment fashion adviser for Sigma. They should make a position just for you and pay you for your expertise.

Oh, yay! That's a good one, KSU!

psusue 05-28-2012 08:03 PM

^^ That theme would be really fun and easy too because most women would have a white dress and I know I'd love an excuse to go buy fun colored heels.

KSUViolet06 05-30-2012 03:49 PM

^^^^Right. I try to put together things that are easy to coordinate and less of a headache for Recruitment Advisors and Recruitment Directors/VP Recruitments. Ex: It's hard to screw up or be confused about "any white dress and any bright pink/purple/etc. pump" or "any white dress and gold sandal."

Hahaha, in my chapter, the white dresses were HORRIBLE, because of the whole "find a white dress in October" problem, so I can only imagine what a disaster this would have been.

KSUViolet06 05-30-2012 09:22 PM

I think the key to it is shopping early. There are tons of cute white dresses online now.

That's really the key to putting together a great recruitment look for any chapter. Get the information to the chapter early enough that they have ample time to shop around. Like, now. Not August.

Also, keep it simple. Ex: Work with colors that are easy to find or provide a range of colors (ex: the pink dress set.) Even better: try to work with staples that everyone has, like striped tops and khakis.)

Oh, I totally agree, I'm just saying that, in my chapter, everyone would have pulled out their godawful initiation dresses, and the advisors would have really had to throw down.

We asked women to show us their outfits in April, so there was ample time to fix any issues before fall rush.
