I must go tell my fraternity brothers that we must now initiate monkeys because not doing so would be non-politically correct and thus immature.

Just because someone isn't walking around with glitter and Lady Gaga on his iPod doesn't mean he isn't a homosexual. If you think they are non-existent, just wait until after graduation.

And really? Monkeys? That's the next logical step after "OMG WE'RE LETTING IN TEH GAYS"?

Remember that lake I told you to jump in? Make sure it's deep and you tie an anvil to your leg first.

Just because you don't believe it, doesn't make it untrue.

What will satisfy you? Names? Initiation dates? I am an SEC sorority alumna, for what its worth.

ETA: MONKEYS? What the hell, dude?

No, just what the alumni were smoking when they found out about it and didn't do anything. Or how much they got paid or what lawsuits were threatened to be filed if they didn't allow them in.

What exactly should the alums have done?

Who knows? I'm not their alum. I wouldn't be too happy about homosexuals being openly admitted into my chapter. But I guess I am the only one here who shares that sentiment. Shame on me.

Thank you, ma'am. I must continue to overcome the obstacles in my path until I reach true political correctness. And when I finally reach it, I will thank you for starting me on the journey. I will be forever indebted to you, ma'am.

Probably the same thing the alumni were smoking when they found out your chapter had let you in.

The condescending attitude is unnecessary. So, yes, shame on you.

Let me ask this instead -- what would YOU do if you found out that, say, one of your VPs was homosexual?

I'm not looking to get sued, so I will plead the 5th on this one good sir.

AlphaFrog 01-16-2012 03:48 PM

I'd say 10:1 odds alphatausc is a closet case acting out against as a means to feel better about his own sexuality, but more likely he's a garden variety troll.

Hahahahaha, I'm sorry. Go Occupy Wall Street. And while you do that, go protest our soldier's funerals. And while you do that, I hear Gay Day Parade is going on, might want to grab your pink tie-day shirt, and ultra fratty tight pants, and go parade around. Yes, I'm the bitch.

Yes, indeed.

Don't you have some weed to smoke or some liquor to drink or some women to strike out with?

AlphaFrog 01-16-2012 03:55 PM

Stop trying so hard to convince yourself and others of your hegemonic heterosexual masculinity.

Only ignorant cowards use "political correctness" as an excuse to find intentionally offensive ways to express opinions.

I'm over 50 and just had to laugh. Also had to check my iPod and make sure Lady GaGa wasn't playing. No glitter though but I do like some of GaGa's stuff. So straight people like GaGa.:D

Alphatausc seems to believe the "big 4" "Southern Fraternities" in the SEC schools would never allow an openly gay person to join. This may or may not be true but I am quite sure there are gay men who have been members of these chapters whether openly or not. Also if another chapter of these Fraternities have accepted an openly gay member he is a brother to all whether the SEC Fraternity chapters/members or alphatausc for that matter like it or not.

BTW - to alphatausc - mine is bigger (southern Fraternity that is). So not really sure the "big 4" is a reality.

Seems reasonable. Mind if you tell me your fraternity? Not saying you're wrong, I just had always heard that KA, EN, ATO, and SAE were "the" fraternities of the south.

@ the bold - This was my point. But I guess I wasn't clear enough for alphatausc. I probably spent too much time Occupying Pride or whatever.

The 1% doesn't get it because they were not born this way.

Your logic does not resemble our earth logic.

Logic would say that SEC Greek life (by which, in a context like this, is meant the kind of Greek life one finds, or rightly or wrongly assumes one will find, at the schools long-associated with the SEC) will now be less susceptible to blanket generalizations.

Ah, we come to the crux of your problem. (Well, one of them anyway.) No, North Carolina is not a "very conservative state." I'm not saying it's the Massachusetts of the South, but compared to other Southern states, North Carolina is not "very" conservative. And it's been a long time since anyone described UNC as conservative. Usually, it's accused of being more liberal than the rest of the state, which on the whole would probably be classified as moderate.

I'm certainly not saying that UNC, like North Carolina in general, doesn't have its conservatives -- of course it does. Nor am I saying that more conservative views can't be found in the Greek System at UNC. Of course they can, which is why I originally said what I said about the OP's question:

What a quick transition to an all out trainwreck! Love the claims of expertise about the South by someone who has clearly NEVER been to a southern state. SMH.
