Just about all of my shirts from my days as an undergrad were all pretty good.

However...the chapter's fall 2001 rush shirt was a major disappointment. Originally I heard they were going to make a shirt with the 3 Stooges on the Back in their golf outfits with the slogan "Pi Kappa Alpha...developing gentlemen since 1868" -- not bad, but not exactly great either. But some of the older brothers apparently opposed the shirt, and one of them flippantly spouted out a new idea...which was taken seriously and printed!

It said "If you're three feet tall it sucks, but if you're three feet tall lying down, then you're a Pike!"

I couldn't believe my guys made that shirt...although I don't see them wear them around much.

IMO, this is overkill. I have never been so offended by a shirt that I would boycot the fraternity. :rolleyes:

wow. boycott? whatever. i guess thats kewl if the shirts are extremely offensive. like badmouthing a specific sorority, sororities in general, or promoted violence toward women. but i've only ever seen shirts that are just distasteful or lewd but pretty funny. i've seen some sororities with pretty risque shirts too. i think that it goes both ways.

The Sigma Pi's had shirt banned from campus one year it was their annual pig roast shirt on the back it had little pigs in different sexual positions with the all the fraternity and sorority letters going around it and the caption was "Makin Bacon"

The Pike had a pledge shirt that on the front "the Average Pike is...." and on the back it said 12 inches long and it had a huge pic of a pike fish.


The cutest was a LXA shirt that said LXA Ski Weekend: it had a top ten list of why it was okay to fall down and number one was chicks dig scars.. it was cute

I know we passed the compact as well in out chapter. BUt I think some of the shirts are funny, However some that aren't..........

I think that this has the possibility to be taken out of hand, because some of the suggestive ones are funny, but there is a fine line between suggestive and offensive.

I never had a Rush t-shirt, except for a Panhel one that was pretty cute: Dark green, with white lettering. There was a drawing of some hippie-style girls on the front, each wearing a t-shirt with her letters on it (only 3 sororities), and it said "We are Family." On the back it said "I got all my sisters with me!" and had the pre-Rush (it was deferred) and Rush schedule on the back.

But I'm REALLY posting on this thread to tell you all about a shirt the Sig Eps had right before KappaStarboy joined. They had the letters on the front and on the back it said "Because everyone else just sucks." The next year, they had another shirt with letters on the front, the back said "Because everyone else STILL sucks." He was always very jealous that he never got one.

We haven't had any shirts that stand out either way since I joined.

However, a coupla years ago, there was a fraternity on campus that had rush tees that said "Join us now or Work for us later." I thought those were pretty unnecessarily cocky.

For me it's a give and take. My fav shirt is from before I rushed, probably around 1995. It is this really hideous mustard/coffee stain color and it's huge but I love the saying on it. On the from it says Rush Sigma Kappa, and on the back it says: One out of every six will make the right choice and then bigger it says Be the One! I think it is funny and I love it, rumor has it that one of the other sorors is using the same saying next year. I love the ones from last year that are a baby chick yellow (it is actually pretty) in the from it says Sigma Kappa Recruitment 2001 in blue and in the back it says Some girls have all the luck! with some flowes or something.

My fav bid day shirt is lavender and in the front it says Sigma Kappa Bid day 1998 and in the back it has the greek letters Sig Kappa made out of violets and under it is says "It's a wonderful life!"

i love my bf's rush t shirt... they have a vanna white type girl picking balls out of a machine like one of those lottery things, and its says "many will enter, few will win." i havent really seen a ton of t shirts at all but i thought it was clever!

I have to say the worst shirt I've gotten was our Dance Marathon shirt with AXO. It is a pastel yellow. The worst I saw was the Dolphine Days shirt that guys got for entering their 5K run. Baby Blue and very girly.
The best we've made was last semesters rush shirts. Since we have AM's instead of pledges we had "Guilty by Association" and then a "rap" sheet with all the reasons to join LCA. Other chapters have had some good ones as well, like "Girls Like our Dick" with a picture of Dick Tracy since it's creator was a Lambda Chi. Also for girls they gave out ones that said "If I was a Guy, I'd be a Lambda Chi"
If the shirt isn't at least a little off color it's not funny enough in my opinion.

Before baby tees were popular for bid day shirts we tried to make our own version of them (we were tired of the extra large tent look). We thought we ordered black baby tees with "DG" on front and "Rush 1997...Bid Day" on back. Nice and simple, right?

Wrong. Our shirts came at noon on bid day (well planned!) and when we opened the box our Rush Chair started crying. They looked like we took a large t-shirt and cut off the bottom right above the belly button and capped the sleeves. They looked like bad 80's t-shirts with florlescent pink writing. No one ever saw those shirts because we found a shirt maker who got us shirts in two hours (thank god!)!

Lesson learned: Plan in advance!

I don't think these ever actually got made, but there was a whole plan by some guys I knew to make their shirts with a picture of a little girl jump roping on the front, and on the back it was just supposed to say "XYZ...Tighter than your little sister". Is this a common shirt design or were these guys just particularly crude/inventive? I thought it was tacky but I'll admit, it still cracked me up.

We've had some pretty cute shirts since I joined. My Favorite is a pink shirt that has a picture of a girl on the front and it says our letters underneath, then on the back in white letters it says, "The symbol of a REAL woman" Our absolute worst was one of our spirit week shirts that had a huge stop sign on the front but it was suppose to say our letters in it, instead it said STOP, and the back said "Dont Stop thinking about Alpha Delta Pi" It was funny cause if you wore a backpack, people only saw STOP.
I think that the fraternity shirts are degrading in a way, but it's still funny. At my school a fraternity actually had to go to every sororities chapter meeting to apologize for one of their shirts that was considered degrading.

now thats i think about it...my favorite rush tee has the saying: WE don't go down until the sun comes up"
now depending on how you look at it, that can be pretty crude! thank god none of the frat boys have pointed it out! also, the saes had some pretty nasty shirst with naked girls holding posters over their "private" areas thats said: rush sae! but hey, what can ya do.

the worst shirt i have ever seen was the chi o woodsy one from 2001 that said chi omega woodsy 2001 on the front and "were you there? we didn't think so" on the back..i thought that was pretty tasteless....i didnt like their bid day shirts either(not that i have anything against them...) they were baseball tees with see thru sleeves (what>!!>) and had a globe on the back with the phrase, "and YES, the world does revolve around us"
our bid day shirts from this year were so cute...maroon with a white v-neck and white striped sleeves that said delta zeta bid day illinois state 2001 on the front corner and on the back in big letters "if you're going to go Greek, why not be a GODDESS?" A little arrogant but sooo cute.
our formal shirts were really cute too i dont remember the design but on the back it said "the next best thing to being a Delta Zeta is being a Delta Zeta's date!"
the phi sigma kappas fall rush shirts had their "T's" on the front and said "why die wondering?" rush phi sigma kappa

The worst t-shirt that almost happened was from Sammies for Little 500. So, we are AOII. On the front it was going to say something about SAM and AOII Little 500, but the back was awful! They were going to say, "We may not finish first, that is no lie, but we'll stick our face in warm ###" you can figure out the end!

We made a big issue out of it. They ended not putting that on that back...thank goodness. I buy every t-shirt we have, but I refused to buy that one...it was so awful.

I think the best shirt that we had was out first crush dance shirt. On the front it said.."AOII *First Crush Dance* 2000" Underneath that it said, "You drive me crazy...". Back said, "Thinking of you keeps me up all night." Our social chair, at the time, was a HUGE Britney fan!

lol, I can't believe some of these shirts! On my campus, one sorority always gets the worst bid day shirts possible and then makes their new members wear them at least 2 or 3 days a week during pledging. Last year was the most horrifying of them all: it was light blue, and on the front it had the "Always" maxi pad logo, and on the back it had their letters in black, and underneath, "Period." in red letters. It was the most disgusting thing and I couldn't believe they went that far with their shirts. They also had a pledge shirt a couple of years ago that said "DKNY: Don't Know Nothing Yet", and another sorority came back a couple of days later with shirts that said "IKEA: I Know Everything Already." I thought that was really funny and it put them in their place.

The worst one we have had was our spring formal rush t shirts from last spring. They were black and silver and our theme was rockstars. It said our name on it with the ac/dc symbol(gross)and spring02. On the back it said not just groupie anymore. Could it possibly get any worse then that?

I think the worst shirt I have seen was from Sigma Chi. On the front of the shirt they had the Fed Ex logo, but they put the EX really big, since those are their letters or look like them anyway. Then on the back it had a similar design with the logo "Stuffing boxes since 1850" or whatever year they were founded. A little unncessary if you ask me, they weren't rush shirts or anything, they really had no purpose. Well, whatever. The other shirt I hated was one everyone in my chapter got. They say Phi Mu on the front in the corner, in red. Then on the back our Greek letters are written real big and are in red, with pink polka dots. EWWW!!! After we wore those around for a bit everyone kept asking us if polka dots were our symbol, since all our rush buttons and flyers and whatnot had pink polka dots all over them. It was annoying! And plus, if there are ANY colors that just really clash, they are baby pink on bright red, icko. I usually just wear mine to bed or to work out in. :rolleyes:

My favorite shirt however was our Greek Week shirt. It wasn't the campus wide one that everyone had, but the one we had with our partner, FIJI, and it was themed around our skit for Greek Week. On the front it just says Phi Mu - FIJI with University of Missouri written above it and Greek Week 2002 written below it. On the back it says Heaven and Hell in red cursive letters outlined in whtie. There's also a picture of an angel and a devil on there, and our theme is written at the bottom, which was "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". And it says Phi Mu - Phi Gamma Delta at the very bottom. The shirts are navy, and they just turned out adorable! I wear mine all the time!

My favorite fraternity shirt: last spring's Sig Ep Lionheart shirts were bright red and said (in the style of those 7UP shirts) on the front, "Make Sig" & on the back, "Ep Yours"

We had a back to school mixer with the wonderful ladies of Phi Mu last fall. We let them design the shirts, which was a big mistake! They came up with some 70's theme of "getting back into the groove," which was fine. But the shirts were yellow and on the back it had all the letters in rainbow colors and had a rainbow colored school bus too. Nonetheless, none of our guys ever wear the shirt, nor do their girls.

I know my chapters worst shirt was for one of our date dashes a few years back. The shirt was for cross dressing and going ice skating. Well it has a guy in a tutu on ice skates spining around.

-The award for the MOST RANDOM shirt goes to the SigEps on my campus...their Fall 2001 Rush shirts: Navy Blue shirt...white SigEp on the front...WHATEVER BRO! in huge bold white on the back. (Rumor has it they were in a meeting discussing the shirt designs and out of frustration one of the older brothers yelled that out and the rest is history!)
-I have to appluad the SAMmies on my campus as well: Fall 2001 Rush Shirt- GREEN shirt (not hunter, not neon) with a scene from Green Eggs & Ham...w/ the caption "i will not eat green eggs & ham because..." and on the back the same scene but the litlle guy held up a sign that said "SAM i am" (undisputed fave)
-They also had shirts made up to give out to the girls: Teal baby t's...with the ADIDAS pyramid/stripes on the chest and ADIDAS right under it in black...and on the back:

T-shirts aren't really big on my campus, which I think is a big shame. It's pretty much just to save money and such but we try to have one once a semester, homecoming and then formal recruitment in Feb. I don'tthink ANYONE did Bid-Day shirts this past year, sniff sniff.

I saw a really cool shirt a our Convention over othe weekend. It was a teal color and said "Never have I ever..." in bubble letters on the front and had ??? on the back and something about Bid-Day too. I kinda liked it.

SigEp did a black t-shirt last year for patty's day that was the poem "Here's to lyinng cheating, stealing and drinking" or however it goes...I liked that one A LOT.

BTW I saw this on a shirt but can't remember all of it...it was for someone's formal...

SAE had their first annual Cajun Cookout philanthropy this year and made light blue shirts with (I think) a picture of a crawfish. It said, "Suck the tail, eat the head."

ATO had their first annual kickball game philanthropy and made shirts that had a picture of a guy standing between two kickballs. They came announcing to my house and showed the picture of the t-shirt design and everyone laughed and I was like, "What? Ohhhhh."

I think that I've lucked out with my chapter as far as horrible t-shirts...our worst one I'm actually wearing right now...my rush shirt for my pledge class.

Really it's not too bad...just boring. Navy shirt with Beta Theta Pi in greek letters in a light blue on the front left breast...below that in orange is alpha tau (our chapter)spelled out. On the back is a huge lower case b in that same weird light blue underlined in orange...and in white running verticle to the edge of the b it says Recruitment 2001 and underneath everything Beta Theta pi is spelled out.

Our best t-shirt was for an annual party thrown by the years' pledge class for the active chapter. This was for the party thrown by my pledge class. It was black shirt and in white on the front, in the same font used for The Sopranos (along with little pistol "r") it said BILTMORE and below that "Beta. Fiji." in smaller print. On the back centered at the top of the shirt (right in the neck area) it had the logo from "The Godfather" (the hand with the marionette strings) but it had Beta Theta Pi in greek letters in place of 'The Godfather'...really cool shirt that everyone has just loved. (not to mention it was a fabulous party)

The best t-shirt I think I've seen was one used by the Beta chapter at U of Minnesota... front was the BMW logo, but instead of BMW it had Beta Theta Pi in greek letters, and it said "the ultimate fraternity experience" on the back it had the Minnesota license plate and said BETA-RUSH as the 'personalization'
