Animation is different because it is all about the voice for animation. Kevin Conroy is the king, but he doesn't control animation.

Michael Keaton had IT. He was the perfect Bruce Wayne and Batman for the Tim Burton idea of Batman.

George Clooney had the look of Bruce Wayne.

Christian Bale to me took the character to a different level. He is no more a better Batman or Bruce Wayne than Michael Keaton, but he plays the psychology better. If you go back and watch Batman Begins his performance plays on Bruce Wayne and Batman being alter egos. You don't see the real Bruce in my opinion until you either see him interacting with Alfred/Lucius or when he has the costume on but the cowl off, but considering the director I believe that was Chris Nolan's vision, which is why I'm of the belief it is all about the director.
