For those of you on t_witter, Phil will be live tweeting during the show on Sunday! Eastern/Central time zone only, it appears though. @PhilKeoghan

I'm intrigued by this.

AGDee 04-10-2011 09:15 PM

I kept getting interrupted but overall, I didn't think there was anything remarkable about this episode. I felt really bad for Zev with all that noise. I have heard people on the autism spectrum talk about how noise can actually be painful to them.

I'm finding myself surprised that we're down to 6 teams already. This season seems to be going by really quickly.

SWTXBelle 04-10-2011 09:54 PM

SO happy Ron is gone!

I thought in one episode Zev mentioned that he used ear plugs because of the noise around him. My son uses his headphones and iPod in order to block out the excess noise that bothers his ears.

The episode was made far better by reading Phil's tweets. He had some interesting comments and insights thoughout the hour. However, between all the chaos/commotion with that city they were in, and me multi-tasking by watching the show, scanning t_witter for Phil, and (for a while) flipping over to the Dallas Stars game, well my poor little brain is a little fried now.

Was pleased with the elimination, and continue to be impressed with the Cowboys. They're early rodeo training has really helped them with the tasks in the race. Who knew?

If we could get rid of the Goths next, then I could be happy with any of the remaining teams left taking the million. I find Mallory's sunshine personality to be absolutely refreshing, and her dad is a great competitor. Was she not completely adorable with her enthusiam for the culture, and offering Zev earlplugs? So sweet.

Justin/Zev are delightful to watch, especially Zev's dry wit. I would love to have a clip of all of his commentary! The Globetrotters are entertaining, the Cowboys are endearing, and Jen/Kisha are working to redeem that potty break.

Agree that the season is going fast, and will definitely feel the void when this one is over.

Definitely want to see the goths go next. I was extremely bother by them yelling at the man to get out the of taxi so that they could get to the pit stop. Looked like they were pulling him out rather roughly.

Agreed. And I too felt for Zev.

What I'm really enjoying about this season is how they keep going beyond the basic next clue. Almost every leg has had a clue they've had to decipher, or a picture or something that makes it more challenging than "next go here." I really like that.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-11-2011 09:11 AM

I'm sappy, but Christina met her fiance on the race. Assuming they get married and have a happy life together, that's certainly worth a lot more than winning.

ETA: Apparently it already happened. Pics here:

I've watched more TAR this season than all previous seasons combined. I knew that the contestants had previously been on the show, but hadn't ever seen any of them in action. Ron must've been a real gem in his first appearance, based on some of the comments I've read.

I really liked the Goths at the beginning of the season. I don't know what their first try was like, but I've enjoyed watching them this time around. Unfortunately, they've kinda gone downhill. They haven't seemed the same since the 'we-left-the-fanny-pack-on-the-skylift' incident.

I thought it looked rough, too. I was also irritated when Kent left Gary. (I'm still having a hard time watching one team help another, just to turn around and stab them in the back. This game is brutal.)

It isn't usually like this? I can't imagine it being like "next go here." Good call by CBS to make that change. I hope they keep it up.

Gary and Mallory are my favorites, but I like all the remaining teams. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!

No, it hasn't always been that way. It was more common in earlier seasons.

Did I tell y'all that I saw Cord compete at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I have to say I was kindof star struck ;)

He is a bull rider, and it is BRUTAL!!

He was the only rider that night to last the 8 seconds, so he automatically made it into the next round.

I saw bullriding when I lived in Calgary and attended the Calgary Stampede. Bullriding is extremely dangerous and is way more difficult than bronc riding.

SydneyK 04-18-2011 08:49 AM

I never intended to get hooked on another show. I deliberately avoided watching TAR for this very reason, and now... well, I really look forward to Sunday nights. I blame CBS.

So glad Gary & Mallory didn't get eliminated last night! :D

Me too!

DeltaBetaBaby 04-18-2011 09:39 AM

I give Mallory credit for being the only one to know what "Villa Trap" was.

It would be sad to see them go, but I would have been especially mad if it had happened on the heels of that non-roadblock. Seriously, WTF was that?

AGDee 04-18-2011 10:40 AM

The Talker called with 20 minutes left to go of the show. I think he's going to be eliminated soon. I have to go re-watch the end <sigh>.

Hahaha, you'll have to tell him he's the last to arrive.

Always AlphaGam 04-18-2011 01:11 PM

Had a feeling it was a non-elimination leg last night.

I was really concerned when Gary and Mallory chose the quick meal -- I knew there was no way they'd finish that in 12 minutes. I thought for sure the Globetrotters would choose it, but who knows if even they could have finished it. That schnitzel (or whatever it was) didn't look good as that chocolate cake!

Can the goths just go home already? I'd love to see Vyxsin break Kent in have though...that'd be entertaining.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-18-2011 01:15 PM

I think I would have chosen easy meal because I distinctly remember that ferris wheel being SO SLOW.

AGDee 04-24-2011 06:29 PM

Is it terrible that I am counting the hours until tonight's show comes on?

DeltaBetaBaby 04-24-2011 07:27 PM

No, I was just thinking "clean the kitchen and shower before 7!"

AGDee 04-24-2011 09:34 PM

:( so sad.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-24-2011 10:44 PM

Hahaha, I just think they were the most boring, smug team ever. Mr. DBB, OTOH, may not even get over it in time to watch with me next week.

Also, I am a spoiler junkie, and this season, every time I read something, it is ALL WRONG.

SWTXBelle 04-25-2011 09:04 AM

I no longer care.

srmom 04-25-2011 04:52 PM

I'm so bummed the cowboys are gone, they were so polite and nice along the way. No whining, not bitching at cab drivers, no complaining about the country they were in, etc.

I used to really like Kent and Vyxen, but HE HAS GOT TO GO! She's fine, and has the patience of Job to deal with him. It must be the editing, but every time Kent opens his mouth it seems it's to complain. And, when he got in that cart and she pulled him around - WHAAAA! That was just gross.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-25-2011 05:28 PM

I could really do without Vyxen's misogyny, though. Being a weakling is NOT "acting like a woman".

AGDee 05-02-2011 03:39 PM

Y'all saw it before the breaking news stuff, right? No comments?? Why is everybody so quiet.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer couple, I gotta say [/sarcasm]

I made The Talker watch it. He didn't know the people/characters so it was annoying to hear him comment about stuff. He was ragging on Zev and Justin for being so whiny and taking so long with the dummy rescue. But really, I think that was exaggerated in editing because they were truly never that far behind the group.

DeltaBetaBaby 05-02-2011 03:41 PM

There's a distinct lack of spoilers this season, which is not good for my blood pressure.

I am sick of the Globe Trotters.

Well, at least Kent still has his postive attitude.

Zev, as usual, had my favorite lines of the night:
  • Too many cooks in the kitchen.
  • Thank you, Captian Obvious.
  • We're meant to be here because we're still here.

DaffyKD 05-02-2011 03:48 PM

Missed it last night here on the west coast due to the big announcement so I watched it today. Not unhappy with the results. Love Gary--"We broke him, is it still a good rescue." The Globetrotters were super appreciative of the views, having a son with Asperger's I find myself continually rooting for Zev and Justin.

You forgot "That's the Matterhorn. It's named after a ride at Disneyland".

LaneSig 05-02-2011 05:37 PM

Justin and Zev are two of my favorites. I like how Justin laughs at the things Zev says.

AGDee 05-02-2011 08:07 PM

I still like the Globe Trotters but Justin and Zev are my favorites. I feel like LaKisha and Jen are kind of the forgotten team. They do what they need to do and move on. Gary and Mallory get a little more attention. I guess it just feels weird to me that LaKisha and Jen get so little camera time.

This season feels like it has flown. I'm going to be sad to see it end.

Just finished watching the first half of the finale. DRAT!

DaffyKD

DeltaBetaBaby 05-09-2011 09:36 AM

I loved my boys, but they a) already won a car each, and b) went out on their own mistake. Zev couldn't do the samba, so they lost. Such is life. I was much sadder to see G/M have no chance in the last leg because of their cabbie.

Jen and Kisha, though? Adorable. The most satisfying win in years.

I know! I felt bad for Zev and Justin during the dancing part. And what crappy luck Gary and Mal had with their incompetent cabbie! :(

I loved the Brazilian waxing scenes, though. Priceless!

They went out on two mistakes -- Zev's "dancing" and the desision to sell bikinis instead of mixing drinks. It wasn't clear but it looked like there might have been a possibility to make up some time if they hadn't wasted time trying to sell bikinis.

That was frustrating to watch.

I was eh about them. They were probably my least favorite team among the final four, although I liked them this season a lot more than I did their last season. Not complaining or disappointed, but I wasn't bowled over either.

And where was the traditional final challenge that required them to do something that related back to everywhere they'd been? I really missed that.

Since they were all returning teams, maybe the producers had a feeling a memory challenge might be expected? I don't know.

After the Goths were eliminated I knew I was going to be happy with any of the remaining 4 -- but I really really really REALLY wanted G/M to win. Loved their positive outlook on everything, even when they got the cabbie from hell. If it were up to me I wouldn't have gone with that cabbie based on how quick he got into the car.
