It's not just the sun that you pay attention to in astrology when it comes to what your personality is supposed to be like. Every planet is in a sign when you're born as well. Each planet rules specific characteristics ie Mercury rules communication etc.

So there are actual explanations built into astrology for why a person may not suit their sun sign. Whether they hold any water or not is up to each person's beliefs.
