The artistic talent these chapters have is amazing! Some of the letters are so good it looks like a printed pattern.

I <3 my chapter's letters. We just added a smaller, easily portable set to our arsenal!

Those are painted red, with carnations hot-glued on them. They are PRECIOUS!

These are based on Vera Bradley's Hope Garden pattern. I think they're awesome. :)

LucyKKG 09-24-2010 01:09 AM

Omg, I started this thread (with suggestions from others, of course) then left for two days....and come back to 4 pages of amazingness!! Ahhhh so cool!

the XΩ owl- that is so cute! (but makes me feel like the X needs something extra)
Nice to know that I'm not completely crazy for thinking that the Ω looks like an owl. While in an extremely creative mood, it randomly came to me that XΩ's letters really looked like their symbols on the badge: X for the crossbones, Ω for the owl. So, technically, they just have to add a little skull to the X, and it's consistent.

Alright, so that was it; I think I need to cool it off and stop memorizing random useless facts. :)

ETA: The first picture is from my school - I know I sound biased, but I really do like their letters because they chose a unique font. I also like the last ones for incorporating the symbols in a not so in your face way.

The unique fonts are definitely cool! KKΓ wouldn't be that hard to cut out, but I bet some letters are really tricky.

They're all adorable! But I agree about the last ones - very cute!

LOVE This Thread!

I'm usually a lurker but I absolutely love, love, love this thread. We did not have letters like this back in my day and I adore how creative everyone has gotten with their letters. I have to agree, by far my favorite are the Chi Omega letters with the owl. But a close second are the Tri Delta letters with the Bid Day 200? on them and the AXiD bubble letters. Very cool. The letters that incorporate the sorority colors and symbols I think are awesome, like the ZTA letters with the crown atop the Z and strawberry attached on the A. Adorable!

I gotta agree, the XI can look a little awkward but some of these chapters have really come up with some creative solutions. Love the paisley letters! :):)

OK, how do they decorate those letters? Paint? Wallpaper? Do they take a projector and blow up a pattern they like and transfer it onto the letters then paint them? My mind boggles.

The letters from La Tech are fabulous! (Though, I can't praise Tech too much since that's my husband's alma mater, and it's in the sticks :p)

not really positive honestly we have a set of painted wooden letters but they are jjust the simple blue with white lining and we have a smaller set of wooden letters that were painted that we decopogged (sp?) this year with lilly wrappign paper... so I guess either works? Also the AGD chapter here has repaints their letters every year and this year they are paisley printed but not sure how exactly they did it

All_eyes_on_me 09-28-2010 12:25 AM

Woot Woot nice letters!!!

LucyKKG 09-28-2010 01:00 AM

Oooh, decoupage is a decent idea if you didn't need it to last that way for a long time. My chapter used to have a tradition of bigs painting an initial wooden letter for their littles, and my roommate did that. (They were around 9 inches or so) It would look cool in big form, too!
