Does anyone know if a bid from a colony chapter is binding for a year like a regular one?

One of my friends joined a colony in spring (like around March) and dropped out a month later and then was allowed to re-rush in the fall. So I would say no - but double check with the Greek life office first.

I think it was brought up fairly recently here that COB or a recruitment year ends when the next year's starts. So probably if she pledged a colony in the fall and then dropped, she couldn't informal in the spring. But again, your Greek life office is the only opinion that counts.

Well no, that isn't the same thing, because the colony isn't a chapter yet. It can pull up stakes and leave at any time with no consequence before it charters. Therefore, it can't "bind" women to it in the same way.

Alpha Phi first event starts tomorrow night! I'm so excitedddd!! I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Basically tomorrow and Thursday are open house events and there meant for seeing if you mesh with all the other girls since you will be colonizing together, then my interview is this weekend (ah!) and invite back only philanthropy and pref are next Tuesday and Thursday, respectively and Bid Day is that Friday!

I'm super excited but also a little nervous, there is a LOT of girls going to check out Alpha Phi and I keep telling myself that this time why wouldn't they want me. There looking for non-freshmen and those who can lead and build so its gonna work out I think :)

Hi everyone!

So I just got back from the first event. We watched the same video as formal recruitment and I got to mingle with a few people. It was a very short event but I definitely saw myself building a sorority with the other girls! Some of them I feel could already be my best friend and sister. I am cautiously optimistic, and ready for Thursday!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of the support, it has definitely helped me these past few weeks. :)

Hey ya'll

*I realize PinkPalmTree and I have the same stories going, but I know you guys wanna read it twice haha. I actually met her today! She's super sweet :) it would be awesome if we ended up sisters after our crazy adventures!

So the second event was today, garnet and gold themed so I wore my colors and saw a few girls I knew from the first event. I met so many girls today and I could see most of them being my friends and sisters! We did an activity where you plan out a month of the year as you and your table want (add in socials, retreat, philanthropy, formal, etc) and that was a lot of fun :)

I almost started crying at the table though because I want this so much and it means everything to me; so many other girls seem to bring the same desire and drive that I do that I'm worried I won't get invited back since I'm one in a crowd.

My interview is this weekend and I am crazy nervous but ready to rock it. Wish me luck!

Monday I will be insane since we find out if we got invited back or not! :eek:

Hey everyone, so interviews are still being conducted until tomorrow but I figured it was safe to post.

I think my interview went well..? I couldn't really tell how it went. I was SO nervous on the walk down, I was shaking. I had to call my mother on the phone and she calmed me down thankfully before I went inside. My interviewer was really nice and asked me a lot of questions. I just laid my life out on the table, spoke honestly, and from the heart about why I want to be an Alpha Phi. Thats what your supposed to do right?

Well I've done everything I can, so tomorrow night I will find out if I have been invited back. I'll keep you guys posted..

It's not bids...it would be an invite to the next round. There are two invite-only rounds in the colonization process for Aphi at FSU.
