I love the "just in case" idea. Sadly mine is one of those kind of thermal (like long johns?) sort of blankets and it is already cut in half b/c when I was younger I buried half with a dog of mine that died & it used to be yellow...now its kind of...cream colored? really faded with some holes... but I don't think they make them like that anymore. Plus I left it at a hotel once when I was little and my parents tried to buy me a different one and I noticed. I don't know if it could be replaced if lost

My siblings and I all had different items, but my youngest brother had his blanket. We always had at least 2 of them and as it was a really basic blue blanket it was replaceable the one time that we left it at home on the way to vacation. My brother would search the blanket for the corner that had come unraveled and suck his thumb. He looked like Linus :p

I still sleep with stuffed animals but not with my Teddy 1 or Teddy 2 that were my "thing" as a kid.

LOL, good point! I still date losers, they are just losers with advanced degrees and kids that I know about! (I don't think they've had records or warrants though!) Even my friends at the time were pretty shocked by this guy. I think he was my teen rebellion.

NutBrnHair 07-31-2010 10:25 AM

As a six year old, my picture was in National Geographic in the 1960s.

I still sleep with my Oscar the Grouch that I got as a baby!

Nanners52674 07-31-2010 11:46 AM

I would still have my blankie but my stepmother threw it in the garbage when I was in middle school:mad::mad::mad::mad: Yes it still makes me angry. I do still have a stuffed monkey I sleep with though.

I was photo editor of my high school newspaper and co-editor of my med school yearbook.

SWTXBelle 07-31-2010 03:24 PM

I don't know if this has come up before - I appeared on "Jeopardy!" and "Win Ben Stein's Money".

The answer is no.

jennyj87 07-31-2010 03:42 PM

I got to carry the Olympic torch in Dec 2001. :)

While I don't consider myself a goth and certainly don't look like a goth (I'm blonde, love designer stuff, and wear pearls a lot), I really like a lot of goth and industrial music. Apparently, I'm not the lone Greek who likes this stuff...among the friends I've made at some of goth/industrial shows I've been to are a Tri Delta, an Alpha Xi Delta, a Phi Mu, and an Acacia.

I like hair bands too. \m/

Since I was a kid, when I walk through automatic doors I still pretend that I'm the one opening them with my Jedi powers.

Ha! I've never done that, but I LOVE to run around and around and around the revolving doors. My husband says I'm a four year old.

I really love to touch things. I frequently get in trouble at museums for touching. My husband says he'd have to bring band-aids to the Broken Glass Museum.

honeychile 07-31-2010 05:58 PM

I've kicked a soccer ball at 71mph, with 100% accuracy. I doubt that I could do that today (but it was only a year ago).

I'm fluent in Latin! :D

That's evil! My mom did the same thing with diaries I kept at various times growing up, although she denies it.

You win at crowns.

There was no such thing as a 2x Homecoming Queen at my school because the queen had to be a senior.

So did I! I ran it in MA. What state were you in?

preciousjeni 07-31-2010 10:07 PM

Thought of another one! :D I haven't thought about this stuff in years.

I had a full-ride soccer scholarship to several colleges around the country including the birthplace of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu. :D Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take the scholarships because of a severe head injury (I was a keeper).

XanexAZ 08-01-2010 12:20 AM

I went to Ohio State with a partial football scholarship. I got laid for the first time when I was 11. It was a 16 year old chick that I nailed. I nailed my first milf when I was 21. I was homecoming king in highschool and I went to prom as a freshman. Only juniors and seniors could ask dates to prom.

PrettyBoy 08-01-2010 01:35 AM

When I was in highschool, I received an art award for sculpture and pottery. When I got to CSU, my senior year, I won 3rd place for the viewbook design. After I graduated from CSU, I got some scholarship money based on my portfolio when I applied to CCS (College for Creative studies) it was the Center for Creative Studies back then.

And I love figure drawing (live that is).:D

I failed my first semester of college. Badly.

BUT, that's when I changed my major to something I like!

But seriously. It was bad.

Think of a terrible GPA... then think worse.

^^^Sophomore year of HS, I had a 1.9 even though my IQ was in the gifted range. I was terrified to do my best and fail so I failed things on purpose. The accolades didn't come until I was able to get past that.

excelblue 08-01-2010 05:38 AM

... my parents were completely clueless on what I had done when I told them I joined a fraternity.

They literally had absolutely no ideas on what GLOs are, none of the stereotypes and none of what they actually are. It was a completely blank slate for my mom, and my dad said "they're related to undergrads in college, right?"

The blank slate was really interesting to work with.

Even if it's true that you did the deed, I doubt that whatever an 11-year old can do would qualify as a "nailing". I'm trying to imagine what kind of 16-year old girl has sex with an 11 year old. Putting aside the crime of statutory rape and the complete lack of a moral conscience, the chick must have been a real winner.

I bringing it back from where you put it aside and pointing out that it's RAPE.

I don't know any child molesters I would call "real winners." No matter what her own psychological issues were.

I didn't tell my parents I was joining a sorority until after I pleged. I didn't think they'd be super receptive, and I was paying my own dues, so I didn't really think it was a big deal. However, I was super wrong and my parents were psyched for me :)

I mentioned those as "an aside" because he seems quite proud of his "achievement" - and it's anything but, though he doesn't seem to reflect that. The fact that he was an 11 year old CHILD shows that he was not in control of the situation (at all) enough to be "nailing" someone. The post actually made me sick.

He's trolling, I just wanted to bring it out and not let it get swept under the rug. Not that you were actually trying to do that at all.

They let him come back after the 0.0 the first semester? How long can you have a really poor GPA and keep taking classes (presuming you had the money)?

This might sound like a ridiculous question, but do any schools have "minimum" GPAs required to "stay" in a Bachelor's program?

I know that some majors have GPA requirements to get into their programs, and remember some people having to put off their official "declaration" by one or two semesters until they reached the minimum.

We have those. Depending on your major, you couldn't get into it until you had the min. The ed majors had the highest. I'm pretty sure to get into Early Childhood, you needed a 3.6 or 7. The other higher entry GPA majors were Interior Design, Architecture, and Graphic Design.

Whether your major had a min. or not, each college/school had a min. GPA requirement in order to receive a degree from that school. Ex: You needed a 3.0 in your major courses to get a degree from the college of business.

As far as how long you could be in school and get a low GPA: The first semester you got below a 2.0, you were placed on academic probation. If you received a 2.0 the NEXT semester, you were exited from the university.
