Guilt of Overacting

Please send the contestants to drama school. I hadn't see that much ham (Gretchen, Casanova) since I went to a State Fair

The drama queen Casanova is to be expected. I'd be very disappointed if he didn't have his diva moments here and there.

Gretchen should have been sent packing, but we all know they keep her around for the ratings.

I'm so glad Tim ripped them a new one for letting Gretchen take over!

srmom 08-27-2010 05:30 PM

Is it just me or does this season just seem very mean spirited? One of the reasons I really liked Project Runway, is that, besides the judging portion, which could be somewhat brutal, the rest seemed pretty congenial.

Either this season the contestants are just total bitches (men included) or they just didn't show the bitchy behavior in seasons past.

That being said, Gretchen is horrifically irritating, and if I was there, I'd probably be a bitch to her too. ;)

I remember reading before this season started that one of the reasons they extended the show 30 minutes is to show all the drama that they've had to cut out in previous seasons. That leads me to believe that things have been just as bitchy in the past.

A. I laughed HARD when Tim verbally gave her a new anus.
B. I like Cassanova also.

ASUADPi 09-02-2010 05:43 PM

But....

These are all adults why are you letting one, who wasn't assigned as the team leader, to dictate what you should and should not do.
I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. They made their beds (listening to Gretchen) and now they have to sleep in it. Grow the hell up is all I have to say.

DaffyKD 09-02-2010 07:43 PM

If the previews they have been showing all week are true, tonight should be very interesting for all of those who were on team LUX last week. Michael C. does not have immunity this week but he sure has a fire lit under him.

I am so tired of, "I'm not a manipulative person" and "I wish Tim would just critique my work"

KSUViolet06 09-02-2010 09:58 PM

Just catching up on the team challenge ep.

Every outfit made by the losing team was kind of fug.

I had to LOL at Gretchen for being all gung ho about being in charge, but trying to persuade people to say they worked as a team and not throw her under the bus at judging, THEN proceeding to throw everyone else under it ("everybody sucked").

Everybody looked like they just wanted to scream "It's ALLLLLL Gretchen's fault."

Tim is totally right in ripping them a new one. That was completely unfair to AJ, but they all should have stood up for themselves on the runway instead of covering up for Gretchen.

bostongreek 09-02-2010 10:31 PM

poor michael :( i hate that everyone is so mean to him.

Amicus 09-02-2010 11:08 PM

Is Ivy becoming the poster child for Planned Parenthood?

AOII Angel 09-03-2010 01:18 AM

I think all the contestants are wondering what the judges are smoking! They LOVE Michael and the contestants really think he has no talent. It's too funny the difference in taste level between the two groups.

Tulip86 09-03-2010 04:44 AM

Just catching up with last weeks episode, Oh My, I have never seen Tim Gunn this mad, it's scary! (and he has a very valid point)
I really loved Gretchens designs the past few weeks, but her personality is really horrible...

Benzgirl 09-03-2010 10:54 AM

I thought Mondo should have won last night. I'm really getting tired of the Ivy/Gretchen/Christopher alliance.

tnxbutterfly 09-03-2010 10:17 PM

I thought Mondo should have won last night's challenge as well. I really loved his dress. But I'm glad that Michael C won. The look on their faces were priceless.

I'm so over Gretchen. She reminds me of my co-worker.

Sister Havana 09-09-2010 10:34 PM

The wrong person was auf'd tonight. I actually liked that person's outfit and the last person who was safe really should have gone - that outfit was hideous.

tootiepie2 09-09-2010 10:52 PM

One of my friends daughter is at the final runway show tonght. Hoping I can get her spill who the final 3 are!!!!!

Amicus 09-09-2010 11:01 PM

From the last season, six of the finalists had their work shown in New York during Fashion Week so to keep everyone guessing who the top three were. One of the elminated designers got a good review from the TIMES

I couldn't agree with you more. I am not too sure if the judges are completely sober with the people they have been keeping.

AOII Angel 09-10-2010 10:22 AM

Ivy has an inflated sense of self. So she's a good seamstress...this isn't Top Seamstress, it's Project Runway. I'm sick and tired of her hoity toity affect like she's too good for the other contestants when she couldn't design her way out of a paper bag. Has she been in the top 3 yet? I don't think so. Half the time she looks like she's sucking on a bitter lemon. Hopefully she'll be auf'd next week so I can stop looking at her. I've given up on the hopes that Gretchen will get kicked.

BraveMaroon 09-10-2010 10:29 AM

I hated the outcome of last night's show - I watch it with a friend every week and we were both convinced that Ivy would be gone.

That said, I did like the montage that they included of the auf'ed contestant at the end - I think the expanded coverage allows for more fun like that.

Heidi and Michael Kors both mentioned that Ivy is a seamstress, and does does not appear to be a designer. When they said that, I was sure she was out the door, but alas another week of the Ivy and Gretchen show.

sceniczip 09-10-2010 02:49 PM

How did Ivy not go home? That thing was soooooo awful!

Benzgirl 09-10-2010 03:54 PM

Project Runway at fashion week is on the web now 10 designers showed collections so that nobody would know who is in the finals. Love Valerie's collection.

tootiepie2 09-10-2010 05:59 PM

well poo, I thought I was going to get an inside scoop!!!!

tootiepie2 09-10-2010 07:41 PM

I wouldn't do that, I just got excited. I have loved this show since season one. I kinda obsess over it!!!

AOII Angel 09-10-2010 08:38 PM

I laughed when the judges said Cassanova's outfit was matronly. They may not have liked it, but no 80 year old would have worn that outfit. The off the shoulder look hasn't been worn by any 80 year old woman outside the overly nip/tucked freaks in NYC.

That's sort of what I was thinking too. They said grandmotherly and I went "It would be a cold day in hell before my grandma would wear that." I actually sort of liked it though I didn't get resort from it. I liked it a lot better than Ivy's "oh I had to change my design because he couldn't do it" thing.

Amicus 09-11-2010 11:46 AM

The New York Daily News said that there were ten Runway designers with shows. Including Thursday night's show, there were ten designers.

I thought the winning dress was appropriate for a resort ... if a woman was turning tricks.

Someone said that Ivy was a graduate of Parsons. A semester in charm school might help

Nina Garcia said in a previous episode that "there is fashion, and then there are clothes" (or something to that affect) I sincerely doubt that many woman can afford "fashion," but need clothes. Really, how many red carpet events do you go to? I thought so.

I know that the adjective "wearable" is the kiss of death on the show, but I would like to see more realistic designs. Maybe Heidi, Michael, Nina and Tim need to be locked up in a J.C. Penney store overnight.

An earlier poster noted all the bitchiness among the designers. As far as I can tell, one of the few class moments this season has been Peach's departure; she is a class act.

ASUADPi 09-11-2010 08:55 PM

While I adore Project Runway, hell would freeze over before I could afford a hoity toity designers clothing (unless it is Vera Wang for Kohls).

I thought it was funny when the guest judge (whatever her names, I'm blanking right now) said she would wear the winning garment on the red carpet. I thought "hmm be prepared to see yourself in the "worst dress" or "what was she thinking" section of magazines.

I liked Casanova's outfit, it looked incredibly well made (which was a more a tribute to Gretchen than Casanova). While it wasn't "resort" it was 10 times better than Ivy's outfit. Ivy just wanted to piss and moan and blame what's his face (why can't I remember names tonight?).

sceniczip 09-23-2010 10:28 PM

Pretty happy with results :)

KSUViolet06 09-24-2010 12:01 AM

I LOVED both of Mondo's designs. They were my fave.

I liked Ivy's pieces too (my 2nd fave).

I actually thought both of Gretchen's dresses were fug (weird because I have liked her previous designs). I didn't expect the judges to like them so much.

bostongreek 09-24-2010 08:33 AM

I liked Gretchen's ready to wear dress, but the high fashion one was awful. Especially the styling.

I liked Mondo's, but I think Andy should have taken this challenge.

AOII Angel 09-24-2010 10:00 AM

Buh bye! Bridesmaid dresses weren't quite as bad as the bride, but I'm excited to see her go. Gretchen's esthetic is so stuck in the 70's, and I'm not a fan. Both of those pieces were HUGE and swallowed her models. The "high fashion" model looked like she was ready to sing Kumbaya.

Benzgirl 09-24-2010 08:29 PM

Feel bad for Val

Amicus 09-24-2010 09:53 PM

After the first few episodes, I thought it would be a Gretchen vs. Valerie vs. April in the finals. I cannot figure out why Valerie seems to be crashing now. Nerves and pressure maybe?

groovypq 09-29-2010 01:10 PM

Has anyone seen the tease for tomorrow's episode?? They're probably being overly dramatic, but certainly some interesting comments. (I'm not going to say anything specific in case people avoid teasers for spoilers)

bostongreek 09-29-2010 01:28 PM

I don't know if it's overly dramatic... I mean, it's not like it hasn't happened before

groovypq 09-29-2010 01:32 PM

Well, the teaser last week made it seem like Valerie was going to quit mid-show, but what Tim was "shaking" about wasn't that. You know?
