OK! So it has begun!

LIL's roomie decided today to drop out of recruitment. Her boyfriend of 3 years is in the Marines, and unexpectedly got leave this weekend, so she went to see him. But it's ok, LIL has some other friends in her hall who are going through. They met their Rho Gamma girls tonight. LIL liked them all. Her group consists of other girls from her hall and a neighboring dorm. Tonight was an intro to Greek life, and each of the sororities put on a little introduction skit.

I'm going to start using the codes now. Colors do not correspond to groups. :)

She really liked the skits from The Notebook and The Last Song the most. She liked the skit from The Choice, but tent talk about them is intimidating as they appear to be the "Barbie" group. I told her to ignore it. She said all of the other skits were ok, but nothing really stuck with her. Tomorrow is a long first round, meeting each of the groups at their houses!

I thought I would add that LIL ended up with recs for 5 of the groups. I won't mention which ones, because a few came from very generous GCers. :D

So, what ever happened with Pi Phi? Are they allowed to recruit?

Yes, they are allowed to recruit. They are on social probation for a year.

The last time I saw the Green Book, nothing could stop a chapter from participating in recruitment and taking Quota.

A chapter can be prevented from participation in formal recruitment (since it is a Panhellenic function) but they cannot be prevented from taking members.

Ok, round one was tonight!!!!! I'm hoping to get more detail out of her tomorrow as she gets to know the houses a little bit better. I was coming home for the night and she was on her way out when we got to talk.

Here is how LIL ranked:

The Guardian: She loves loves LOVES this group. This is her favorite so far. She is a little biased though, because this is the chapter our brothers girlfriend is a member of. She had great conversations, and she said she felt so very comfortable talking to these girls. Edit- She only saw the girlfriend, didn't get to talk to her, just a wave from across the room.

Message in a Bottle: She had a great time at this house. Again, good conversation, she really liked the 3 girls she talked to. She also would feel very comfortable here.

The Last Song: Our cousin is a Last Song alum, so she went into this house expecting to love it... and she did. She talked with several girls, and LIL said they were all adorable. She really likes their philanthropy too. Again, she could "totally see" herself here.

The Notebook: She said the girl she was first paired in this house didn't have much in common with her and conversation was a bit weird ... until they discovered their mutual love for Twilight! She is nervous about this one because she only talked to 2 girls, and the one girl it was all about being Twihards. But she really liked the overall feeling.

The Choice: This is the "barbie" house, and while LIL is a good lookin girl, she said these girls were georgous. She was very intimidated. Conversation was a little more on the forced side, but still went ok. She hopes to be asked back.

The Lucky One: She said these girls were really nice, but she wasn't feeling anything spectacular. Good, not bad, but not a great feeling either. Hopefully if she sees them tomorrow, things will go better.

The Rescue: She said this was just wasn't very memorable. The girls were nice, but conversation was very basic and felt forced.

A Bend in the Road: LIL was not feeling it here. She said the girls seemed very nice, but she just didn't think she would belong. This is the chapter that my husbands cousin is an alum of.

Dear John: Her rusher in this house seemed very shy, very quiet. Conversation was polite, but didn't flow well. There were a few moments of uncomfortable silence, and then she was bumped to another girl, and things didn't go much better. She was wasn't feeling it here.

Pssst, I think your code is confused. Notebook stuff is posted under The Last Song and The Guardian is in here twice :) That's what happens when you post after midnight I think!

I fixed the code! Left out The Rescue. You're right, I was draggin my way through this! Hopefully today I won't have so many cobwebs in my head when I post how her second round went. ;)

LIL got asked back to her top 7 today. :) Today is house tours, which started a bit ago. She will rank her top 5 and bottom 2 after today.

House tours today! LIL is exhausted. She got to see 7 houses, and they can get asked back to a max of 5. It's hard getting super detailed info out of her, but here is where things stand, in order:

The Guardian (the RIGHT one this time): This one is still her favorite. She said the house itself is by far the nicest, in her opinion. She says it feels like her heart knew its home when she walked inside today.

The Last Song: This is tied for her #2 now. She said their house was beautiful, and she loves talking to these girls. She can still see herself here. They have a particular campus reputation, but she doesn't see it.

The Notebook: This is her other #2. House was nice, but not as nice as the other 2, but she really felt a connection with these girls. She still feels like this would be a good home for her as well. The girls here all are very beautiful, but not to the point of intimidating.

Message in a Bottle: This is now her #3. She still likes the girls here, they seem really fun and social. They seem to be well liked on campus.

The Rescue: LIL was really impressed by these girls today, which was a change from yesterday, and was surprised by their house. The girl she was paired with was really funny and is really involved on campus, so they talked a lot about OU activities.

The Lucky One: Again, she didn't get a bad vibe from this house, but not a great one either. She said the girls were nice and polite, but she just wasn't feeling a bond like the other houses.

The Choice: LIL just did not feel good here today. Her rusher seemed really distracted and the conversation was forced and felt fake.

It sounds like your sister has a number of good options, Irish Lake. I hope that things continue to go well for her.

Sounds like her recruitment is going very well. How many are going through the process? Here's wishing she finds her perfect match.

When does she get her invites for Friday?

I can't imagine waiting a couple of days in between, so nerve racking.

She just got back her invites for tonight. She got released by The Last Song, and she's sad about it. But she was asked back by The Choice. She stills has 3 that she loves including her first choice, and she has a full schedule. Some girls in her RG group are dropping out because they were released by their top choices, but were asked back by their bottom rankings. LIL told them they didn't have anything to lose by seeing things through to the end (she takes some advice from me so well!). The Guardian and The Notebook seem to be the most highly desired houses in her group, and they released a lot of girls in her group, so she feels pretty lucky. Then she told me that some girls are being really stuck up about not getting asked back and being nasty to her and the other girls that got asked back to those houses.


The Guardian is her first house to visit with tonight, fingers crossed it goes well for her!

I talked to her! Here's the scoop!

The Notebook - Well, tonight was a little bit of a letdown from this house. She was expecting more, but her rusher didn't know much about the philanthropy, and she said it felt like their momentum was tapering off.

The Choice - Well, it looks like it's a good thing LIL was dropped by The Last Song, because she loved The Choice tonight! Her rusher said to her first thing "OMG Lil, I've heard so much about you! I was really hoping to get a chance to talk to you tonight!" Apparently, that made LILs night! She loves this philanthropy, and she loved her main rusher, plus a couple other girls she talked to were very "chill." (I hate the word "chill" for some reason).

The Guardian - Still her favorite! Tonight was just as good as the others. :)

The Rescue - She said these girls, while nice, just didn't suite her personality. She wasn't meshing well with them tonight, and they've been a fringe group all along. She connects with their charity though.

Message in a Bottle - She still really likes this group and still feels a connection with them. They're still a strong contender.

She would be cool with preffing at The Notebook, but knows The Rescue is not for her.

Good luck to LIL- I am loving her story!!!!

She just told me what she is wearing to pref tonight, and I am like EEEKKK!!!!! lol. Kids these days. It's not black, and she'll stand out, that's for sure. The color is kind of her signature color/pattern.
