I'm not a huge fan of Sam's storyline, either, but the rest of it is fantastic!! I think I find the Franklin/Tara storyline the most interesting. James Frain is an epic victory for acting.

IrishLake 07-21-2010 08:20 PM

I don't remember the Franklin story being so scary in the book, but i like it too!

From what I recall, I think he was older and way less threatening. I'm also trying to remember if his and Tara's relationship in the book was the sugar daddy relationship?

Xylochick216 07-21-2010 09:03 PM

Franklin was definitely older and more of a sugar daddy, and then that other old vampire showed up with Tara. I just don't like Tara on the show. She's such a non-character in the book, and her character on the show is a completely different person. I do like that Lafayette is still around, though.

I also don't like Sam's storyline. What's up with the dad?

I need MUCH more Eric... and less Lorena. I do love Russel and his boyfriend, but I'm not loving the freaky Weres. Part of me just wants to see the books played out on screen, but then I'd know everything.

joliebelle 07-21-2010 09:12 PM

Am I the only one that finds Franklin (and his melodrama) amusing? I mean seriously...the guy actually said "want to see how fast I can type motherf---er?" and told Tara that they were going to Shoney's.

IrishLake 07-21-2010 09:14 PM

i laughed out loud when he said he'd take her to Shoneys, and tara was like "oh ew..."

ColdInCanada11 07-21-2010 09:38 PM

If I could text mother--cker that fast, I probably would show it off too. You just can't deny that natural talent (put that on your recruitment resume:cool:)

ZetaGirl22 07-23-2010 12:49 AM

I feel like in the show they are combining the Franklin character with the Mickey character from the books, even though Mickey doesn't show up until book 5 if memory serves.

IrishLake 08-02-2010 05:17 AM

So, for two episodes in a row, I have wiped drool off my chin as a result of seeing Jason shirtless. I don't think his face is "hot," but oh, that body!

Claudine - not what she looked like in my mind. I think she needs to look more exotic.

IrishLake 08-08-2010 09:58 PM

I must say, I don't care for the way Cal Norris is being portrayed. I always envisioned him as more of a fatherly figure.

Still BLUTANG 08-09-2010 10:39 AM

am i the only one just now noticing how tall eric is? or has he always been around other males of the same height? he's always been spooky-sexy to me, but this season made him just jump to #1 on my regular sexyscale.

Xylochick216 08-09-2010 10:45 AM

I'm mad about how Hot Shot is being portrayed as a whole, too. I'm also not loving how they're making the Russel/Eric storyline veer completely from the books. I realize they want to surprise all of us, even the readers, but I really want to see the books portrayed on screen. I'm just waiting for barefoot Eric to run down the road. THAT will be a great season :)

Glad to see Holly appear, even if she doesn't look a thing like I expected.

I think that showing his humanity - his pain and his thousand-year search for vengeance - makes him more appealing now.

Is it just me, or is it hard to watch Anna Paquin in such explicit love scenes? The actress herself still seems young to me, maybe because I associate her with her earlier roles. Not to mention that her character is quite literally much, much younger than her 174 year-old boyfriend. When you think about it that way, it's kind of creepy.

Alexander Skarsgard is 6'4...the perfect height (for me :D), but taller than alot of men in Hollywood. I love that they're showing more of Eric (and Lafayette) this season

IrishLake 08-09-2010 07:52 PM

Anyone else think Lafayette's boyfriend (his moms nurse) is a member of a local witch coven?

ASUADPi 08-09-2010 09:30 PM

Seriously could Alexander Skarsgaard get any HOTTER!

When he was undressing, I was like "take it off". LOL.

ree-XI: It's not just you. The thing that seems off to me is the fact that the two actors are engaged in real life. I feel like I'm watching some home porn from them. That is what makes the scenes a little creepy to me. But I'm not a huge Bill fan anyways, I want her with Eric or the werewolf (I can't think of his name right now, but he's a hottie as well).

Didn't realize Hadley was her cousin. Although, if Eric turned Hadley (like last weeks episode led us to believe) how did Sookie hear her?

No I don't think he could. Everytime he comes on me cousin and I both just sigh. My cousin was like "There is no way I would have made it thruogh a game of chess with him".

In one of the early episodes when Bill was at the Queens Hadley is there and shes like "oh sookie my cousin".

He didn't turn her. He would have had to drink more.

IrishLake 08-12-2010 08:45 PM

She would have had to drink too much of his to turn her. Though, in the books, Hadley does.... well, it's not a great story for her character!

Wasn't she a vampire in the books, or was there another cousin?

I was a little upset to see Claudine show up, hopefully they keep the Fae war to a minimum. I was digging the fact each season is starting to stray from the books yet keep te overall plot the same. They can also keep Amelia and Ophelia out as well.

IrishLake 08-12-2010 11:04 PM

yeah, Hadley had been turned in the books, and then she bites it.

i wasnt quite ready for claudine yet either. i agree on the amelia thing, but they'll have to bring the witches in at some point, because that's what's next in the storyline for Eric pretty much! they need to develop the Were storyline before getting into the faeries though.

There is something going on with him, that's a good theory.

disclaimer: I haven't yet read any of the books. I just started watching the show this season.

BetteDavisEyes 08-18-2010 11:51 PM

Russell talking to the jar of jelly had me laughing but even better was what he said after his on TV rant, "Now time for the weather. Tiffany?" LOL!

ree-Xi 08-19-2010 10:15 AM

I've been having a harder and harder time dealing with the blood on the show. This week's episode was almost too much - Franklin exploding, Talbot turning into sticky goo, and the end with the anchor - I got sick to my stomach.

BTW, I found this great breakdown of all the characters (I haven't read the books):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...kie_Stackhouse

Which leads me to a question. On this page, it said that Talbot is Russell's human companion, but in the show, he's a vampire. In the books, is Talbot human or vampire?

Xylochick216 08-19-2010 03:23 PM

Franklin in a jar is awesome, as is Russell. I'm waiting for him to go out with a bang. Wonder if they'll do it this season or if it'll have something to do with the big Eric arc next season.

Talbot is human (and not very memorable) in the books, and Russell isn't this evil. Read the books - they're different from the show and are incredible.

I'm sad that Calvin is made out to be terrible. I like him in the books.

I also think Jesus has something to do with the witch coven. I hate how they're doing the fae this season - isn't Claudine super tall and gorgeous? She appears in the books for the first time in Sookie's car, right?

IrishLake 08-19-2010 08:18 PM

Yes, Claudine needs to be TALL!!!!!!!!! that chick ain't cutting it.

i gotta say, the wooden bullet thing was pretty damn cool!

Xylochick216 08-19-2010 08:58 PM

Has anyone picked this up yet? http://blog.zap2it.com/thedishrag/20...one-cover.html

I heard that ASkars refuses to wear a sock in nude scenes.

PiKA2001 08-19-2010 09:05 PM

Claudine is supposed to be drop dead gorgous but that actress who plays her is kind of plain looking. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but last episode had nothing to do with the book.

Not a bit of it. I'm not crazy with how they're going about introducing the community of Hot Shot. I'm so over the Sam's family story line.

IrishLake 08-22-2010 09:27 PM

I HATE how they are portraying Cal!!!!!!!!

Nanners52674 08-22-2010 10:02 PM

Can not stand what they are now showing as Sam's background.

IrishLake 08-22-2010 10:07 PM

All the more reason why books are always better than the movies/tv shows.

AGDee 08-29-2010 09:02 PM

Season Finale, already! Wowsa.

ETA: Never mind.. something I heard said tonight, but they just showed a preview that said the finale is the 12th.

Pecan 08-30-2010 10:36 PM

How did I not find this TB thread earlier??? I love True Blood and Eric's FOINE self!!!!

Yes I'm also shocked that the season is just about over with already. It seems like it just started!!!

nikki1920 08-31-2010 10:39 AM

I finished book 1 Saturday night and book 2 last night (bought it after work, read off and on until 2 am, i'm geeky like that). Interesting. I like the storyline so far.

ree-Xi 08-31-2010 04:25 PM

I hated Sam in this episode. All of the sudden, he has a crazy past? It wasn't alluded to at all in the first two seasons, which bugs me from a continuity standpoint.

I laughed during the re-cap of last week's episode when Sookie said, "I'm a fairy? How f-in lame!"

Yay @ Eric's plan, though it almost kills him (dang previews spoiled it, though I know they wouldn't get rid of him anytime soon). It makes me laugh when he has to bend his head down to look at people, especially Sookie. He just looks so lurchy lol.

ASUADPi 09-02-2010 05:48 PM

Bill better have been lying in those previews saying Eric was dead, or I shall be writing to HBO saying "what the hell" (a la Whoopi Goldberg 2008 Tony Awards)

Sciencewoman 09-04-2010 12:34 AM

I totally agree, ree-Xi. Sam's whole past, adoption, etc. is different from the books and I hate it. His "niceness" has always been his allure. The back story of him being a burglar/murderer just doesn't fit. There are plenty of "edgy" characters already.

I also don't like how they've made Calvin into a complete jerk. My daughter said, "at least they kept Terry nice!"

Eric will live.

ZetaGirl22 09-05-2010 04:21 AM

Yeah, I really hate what they've done with Sam and Calvin too. The show has strayed SOOOOO far from the books that I don't even think its a fair comparison anymore, and I LOVE the books. Sookie/Bill needs to break the F up already, cause Dead to the World is ALL about Sookie/Eric. And Bill in the show annoys me anyway. I'm all the way Team Eric :)

PiKA2001 09-13-2010 09:42 PM

Ok, I think it's now fair to say that the show does not correlate with the books.

IrishLake 09-13-2010 09:45 PM

I concur. I was not impressed by this finale. AH well, knew they wouldn't keep in line with the books for too long.
