Of course, if you call out the other person's poor grammar and spelling, they drag out the typical "this isn't a term paper" defense. I guarantee that 8 out of 10 of these people actually suck in the writing department.

Oh, I know. I was thinking of it in a more positive way, not like I was looking for errors. Oh, I love a man who can spell "definitely" the right way! ;)

Also, he says "mines" instead of "mine." I don't blame him, though, because when I lived in the same area as him when I was younger, I was never taught that "mines" was not a word either.

Is it funny that I've never heard someone say "mines"? It must be a regional thing. Is it just like, "Those shoes are mines?" I can't even wrap my brain around that.

Be careful, if you end up in the slash fics or other distrubing adult ones you'll need to scrub your brain with steel wool and bleach just to get the images out of your head. Topless Robot does a weekly worst fanfic that is primarily very, very bad porn. Rule 34 is out in force.

Oh, these were specific pieces recommended to me. I don't read them otherwise, just to snark on specific works of "art". ;)

Your post bumped it, and I had the exact same reaction.

I make a lot of mistakes here which I am later horrified by, but I love reading the grammar nerd level of interest in this thread.

I love that this thread was bumped maybe an hour after I changed my signature.

Recent grammar irritation: when people type 'could of' instead of 'could have' or 'could've'. It scares me that people actually think it's OF. aack!

I JUST had the same reaction! :D

LOL Though don't hold my current ceiling against me. It's not incorrect, just translated.

And whenever someone confuses "a part" with "apart", they deserve a lashing with a wet noodle.

I love this meme to underline the importance of punctuation:

My pet peeves:

- 20$
- 98' (instead of '98)

Not using the correct word: anxious/excited. They do not mean the same thing.

You may be ANXIOUS awaiting your bid on bid day.

You will be EXCITED to see your new sisters.

Not quite the same as grammar abuse, but poor fact-checking sets my teeth on edge. Witness this breaking-news headline from earlier today that someone managed to screenshot before it was corrected:

^^ One of our local Louisville stations tweeted the same error.
