Sigma Tau Gamma's 44th Grand Chapter Convention will be held in beautiful downtown Cleveland, Ohio July 30th-August 1st 2010.

I'm extremely excited that I don't have to spend a single dime to travel this year. :D

Beta Theta Pi has convention every year. This marks the 171st and it will be hosted in Washington D.C. this year early in August.

We're saying good-bye to our headquarters there ... which makes me wonder if we'll be saying hello to the new HQ in Indianapolis in 2012...

And I was right...

Our 2012 Convention will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana! :D

And I'm happy to say that my chapter received 3 awards, one of which was the national philanthropy award, which we've received at 3 of the last 4 conventions! Go Gamma Theta!

PeppyGPhiB 06-28-2010 06:34 PM

It was announced at our Convention last week that Gamma Phi Beta's 2012 Convention - our 75th - will be in Denver!

Sons of Norway had their convention in 2010. :D I got be a delegate for my lodge, and my mom was the president of the district so she ran the whole thing. She just got elected to be an international officer for the organization. YAY!

Kappa's convention was going on at the same time (just this past week). I got news that my chapter received an honorable mention for ritual. HECK YES! I was the first Marshal (ritual chair) for our chapter, so I definitely got teary-eyed upon hearing that news. I'm really excited to hear my friends' stories now that they're back!

Psi U MC Vito 06-29-2010 12:06 AM

Just got back from mine. Convention, was so much fun.

Not being able to go out at night because I couldn't speak not so much.

Of course I would loose my voice for convention, but still worth it.

PeppyGPhiB 06-29-2010 02:20 AM

Seriously, if any of you have not been to your org's Convention, you really need to go at least once. It totally reinvigorates my energy for the sorority, and it is just generally an amazing experience.

I was honored to represent DG at your Convention's Panhellenic reception here in B'ham! It was great fun! I even ran into a couple of old friends from other groups.

^ Always great to hear! I'm glad you had fun

Delta Upsilon hosts our Undergraduate Convention and Assembly of Trustees in conjunction with the Leadership Institute every summer. This summer will be our 176th Convention and the 101st Assembly and they will be held in New Orleans on July 22-25. The Convention and Assembly act together as a Bicameral Legislature for the Fraternity.

AGDee 06-30-2010 06:51 AM

At our Convention last week, it was announced that our 2012 Convention will be at the Hyatt in St. Louis.

It was also announced that our Headquarters building on Founders Rd. has been sold to the foundation of an unnamed men's fraternity. We are leasing it back until fall 2011 while we look for larger space! We had outgrown this building years ago and our Foundation had moved out because there just wasn't room anymore. They are searching for a space that is more modern and spacious with room for growth and room for the Foundation to be with our IHQ again.

^ Through Google, I can see that AST, AGD, Theta, Sigma Kappa, Theta Chi and DU all have their headquarters' on Founders Rd in Indianapolis. Are there any others?

Psi U as well. I think there are something like a dozen HQs on founders rd. somehting about Indy being friendly to fraternities, I thin tax wise.

I just got back today!

I hope everyone who attended a Convention this summer had as amazing of a time as I did.

If you ever have the opportunity to attend your orgs' Convention, do it.

It was a tad rough on my wallet, but it was really an unforgettable experience.

Is it 2013 yet?

Yep.

However, we also just started our 2 day CAB (advisor) and Volunteer Summit this year. We combined it with Convention this year, but it is going to be held yearly. So we'll have something to look forward to every summer between now and Disney lol.

SthrnZeta 07-14-2010 10:34 AM

Got back from convention on Monday and it was definitely amazing. It was such an honor to see National Council elected (I was an official delegate so I got to vote too!) and installed! Met some wonderful sisters from around the country - so moving to connect with these women and feel a part of something so much bigger than myself. Everyone should try to go to convention at least once.

2012 convention will be in.... Louisville, KY! Had no trouble finding a mardi gras mask, guess I'll need a Derby hat for 2012!!

Psi U MC Vito 07-14-2010 12:50 PM

This thread makes me wonder. How many organizations are like Psi Upsilon and do annual conventions?

ms_gwyn 07-14-2010 01:31 PM

Yea, I have to start saving up for Volunteer Summit.....and some of the other programs if I get invited to participate

DreamfulSpirit 07-14-2010 10:21 PM

OPA's convention is next week, and I just submitted my petition to run for a national exec board position! I'M REALLY NERVOUS!

Wow, that's a BIG deal. Good luck. Let us know if you get elected.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Epsilon Sigma Alpha (non-NPC sorority) is having Convention this week in Minneapolis. As we were checking out on Tuesday, I saw their registration table going up and tons of their members checking in.

tld221 07-15-2010 11:00 AM

SGRho is having Boule right now, until 7/23, in Palm Springs, CA. Some fancy resort - sorors are posting pics and im JEALOUS.

2012, let's do it.

KSUViolet06 07-15-2010 06:40 PM

Also, I was part of the official voting delegation for the first time.

That was a really nique experience. Sure, I know how Sigma passes new resolultions and stuff, but it was neat to actually participate in making those decisions for the first time.

BetteDavisEyes 07-15-2010 08:07 PM

I got back from Sigma Kappa National Convention this past Sunday evening. I had so much fun. I was a voting delegate for the first time so that was definitely exciting for me.

Sigma Kappa National Convention 2012 will be in Houston, Texas.

Me too! I got to elect our national council and that is a truly awesome and inspiring experience. Plus, the first time we walked in we did this really neat processional so I felt special :p
