The next installment is coming soon!

And Twinkle555- My baby sister is now a new ALPHA DELTA PI! She's loving her time as a new member right now and is very excited to get back to school and see all her sisters again.

Pirouette 03-13-2010 04:50 PM

Where are they now???

Audrey also received a bid to Candy Land. She actually suicided Candy Land because she never felt very strongly towards Pretty, Pretty Princess and the girl who prefed her was someone she’d never met. Second semester, we became suite-mates and then became roommates and lived in the house for two years before renting an apartment with a few of our fellow sisters senior year. She lives two hours away now but we still e-mail and talk on the phone daily.

Katherine became Audrey’s big sister in the sorority. She and I were never best friends, but occasionally I’ll get an e-mail from her. She moved across the country after graduation so she isn’t very active with our chapter. Apparently she and Audrey are still tight though.

Grace became my big sister in the sorority. She also became one of my close friends at the school and later introduced me to the man who is now my fiancé. I see her every year at homecoming and a few other random times throughout the year. Years later, she still introduces me to everyone as her little sister.

My roommate got a bid to Pretty, Pretty Princess. She and her boyfriend broke-up sometime during second semester, but not before her new roommate moved out because the girl couldn’t live with her either. We don’t talk, but from what I hear, she’s doing well and now married.

Ingrid and I ended-up being casted in one of the same pieces in our school’s winter dance show that year. Our connection was still there and we became good friends and we’re still close (in fact, she’s going to be in my wedding this summer). She lives one town over from me now so we met-up often.

Elizabeth and I occasionally crossed paths during college but we never became really close. However, when I did my student teaching senior year, it was at the school where she taught. She was always very friendly and made me feel welcome at the school. She got married right after graduation and is now pregnant with her own Trouble legacy.

The Candy Land colors I thought were ugly on the first day of recruitment are now my favorite colors and the colors for my wedding.

So who is Candy Land?

Don’t you know how sweet it is to be a Sigma Kappa?

Yay for a Sigma Kappa ending! I've never been a fan of our colors but simply because I can't wear them very well. Otherwise, I think they're gorgeous. Thanks for posting such an upbeat story!

I love a Sigma Kappa ending!! It's funny, I love our colors but I had never been a big fan of purple...after joining, it quickly grew on me. :)

Thank you for sharing your story, Pirouette. SLAM!

twinkle555 03-13-2010 08:10 PM

Yay!! Great story!! Congrats to you and your sister :)) Im dying to know who Pretty Pretty Princess and Trouble were..they were my FAVE games growing up!!

Pirouette 03-14-2010 12:05 AM

I received a private message wanting to know who my legacy chapters were. Since I never said anything bad about the legacy chapter on my campus I figured why not?

My legacy organizations are:
Alpha Delta Pi (yep, my baby sister joined one of her legacy chapters)
Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta

33girl 03-14-2010 01:35 AM

Wow, you totally had me fooled with the colors comment - I was thinking somewhere else entirely :).

Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Just think when/if you have a daughter she will have 4 legacy chapters.

So ADPi was your mom and DG and DZ were your grandmothers?

I actually has SK pegged as the one with the "mismatched" colors the minute OP mentioned it - i feel like it's been talked about enough on GC. either SK or GPhiB. then thought... it sounds like more Gamma Phi Betas on here use different variations of brown and mode (im so sorry if im botching it up) .

in any case, loved this story - congrats!

ETA: not really congrats, since it's a retro story, but... still, congrats!

Low C Sharp 03-15-2010 01:33 PM

At the outset, I was wondering if the game titles corresponded to the chapter stereotypes: the "princess" chapter, the "sluts" (Twister), the "brainiacs" (Scrabble), etc.

I was just glad that you didn't name a chapter Hungry, Hungry Hippos.

I was thinking maybe Chi O, because the cardinal & straw can be pretty bright if you aren't used to seeing them. Or maybe AGD for Christmas colors? I'm sure you can find something with any combo though (I was tired of blue, my university's colors were navy & white so Kappas blue & blue made me think "enough already!"). I wouldn't have thought Gamma Phi, although I suppose to a freshman brown may not be ideal (I didn't start appreciating brown until a couple of years ago).

And congrats on Sigma Kappa! I'm curious- you said your roommate didn't get a bid there, but which group did she go to? Or maybe I missed that.

Not at all! Those stereotypes definitely do not match the girls in those organizations. I assigned the names at random except for Candyland (so that I could have a cute reveal at the end) and Trouble (because it was my mother's nickname as a child).

phi.sig.love 03-16-2010 12:17 AM

this was such an entertaining story! thank you for sharing it!

NothingBetter 03-16-2010 12:47 AM

The second you said that you did not think that the colors matched I was like "ooh! That one is Sigma Kappa!"

I think it always depends on the shade of lavender and the shade of maroon, but sometimes they just do not compliment eachother.
