The year I went through rush the big rival for us (Alpha Gam) in membership was Phi Mu and this past year it was Phi Mu and Alpha Delta Pi. Which is weird. But things change from year to year.

well I did some research and after askingsome of our IFC officers and our chapter president it apparently has something to do with rush.

Apparently this summer at orientation (a big rush time for all greeks) they felt thatwe were dirty rushing. But since they are new to campus they dont understand that at freshamn orientation it is really, REALLY compedative. It actually has the mentality of "all's fair." We along with the other fraternities are very aggressive when it comes to recruitment. We understand that if you wait till someone approaces your table, your never gonna sign anybody. We are never behind our table, but are in front of it, and inthe crowd mingeling, and meeting people. We also help freshmen move into the dorms. (guys and girls) And we also have about half our chapeter volunteer at Fish camp. NONE of that is a violation of IFC recruitment policy. We are just active and involved and put ourselves inplaces where we'll come in contact with prospects.

They are also upset because most all of the "blue chip" guys that went through formal rush this fall and spring signed with us. Which I am sure added insult to injury.

We used to be really bad rushers many years ago. We finally had the fortune to get our stuff in order and have about two years where we recruited recruiters and had a great base, which we built on. In the span of 2 years went from 22 members to a projected 72 after this summer, which will make us the biggest. I guess everybody's got to have a beef with the biggest, or what is percieved as the most powerful. We busted our butts and I am not ashamed of it. they will get the hang of it, but NOBODY showd up at our doorstep with 50 guys ready to sign bids. We worked our tails off for each one.
