Plus it is fun seeing the lobsters and crabs fight to the death and scurry if they ever get loose. You can also hear them scream!!!! You get used to it after the first few times of doing it. You also know it's gonna taste YUMMY.
"Crabs in a barrel" is so accurate because when one crab gets close to the top, the other crabs say "oh no you don't!!!!" Damn, I love cooking lobster and whole crabs. And I'm not a sociopath or serial killer. |

Crabs are delicious! They can scream for terror all they want...cause my screams of joy will drown them out!! haha
I swear i'm not a serial killer! lol :D |
In a pot of boiling beer no one is sober enough to scream.
|
On one hand, shellfish is yummy, and I am sad that my allergy to shellfish does not allow me to enjoy lobster and crab.
On the other hand, perhaps I should take joy in the fact that I do not need to hear them scream while cooking. That's what the neighbor's cats are for. MUAHAHA. |
AGDee and I were both kidding, just like it isn't FUN to cook live lobsters and crabs.
It is necessary to cook them live and delicious in the end. Not fun. |

i like this thread now :) |
I couldn't buy a live lobster, let alone cook one. I'll stick to having it in a restaurant. Let them do it. King Crab legs though.. I would do those!
|
If God didn't want us to eat animals he shouldn't have made them so tasty!
|
ESPECIALLY SWINE!!!!
DAMN bacon is good! |
I saw a lonely lobster in the tank at the grocery store this morning. I thought of this thread.
It is animal abuse to not buy live lobster and live crabs to cook. They don't want to chill in those tanks and barrels. I promise. |
I had a post-workout Jamaican food run last night. I'm more of a seafood person but that oxtail and rice and beans was damn good. :) Thanks God!!!!

There are animals that are herbivores, there are animals that are carnivores and there are animals that are omnivores. Our tooth and jaw structure was designed as omnivores.

Perhaps going vegan in prison is the way to go. Ultimate punishment and imagine the smells coming from the toilets! |

I'm really for gardens that prisons can utilize for therapy as well as food, but only if they aren't chain gang style. Having the ability to grow food and eat it, and retaining that knowledge for work or personal sustainability upon release. Seriously if they grew flowers or starter plants I'd buy them from a prison, and it could be interesting prison ministry for Buddhism or other religions that promote a vegetarian lifestyle and meditation/contemplation. I hope when I leave Idaho I move somewhere else where hunting is common because I fear my lack of wild game (caught by someone I know) consumption will decrease to pathetic levels if I have to move back to San Francisco. My current fella not being a hunter is also an issue, I got used to eating tasty things hunted by my other half. |

YAY!! |
Oh Wow...I leave for a day (I was driving from NY back to OH) and everyone is talking about cooking lobster...lol. Epchick, I died laughing when I read what you wrote about their screams of terror being drowned out by your screams of joy.
I'm glad that even though this thread is kinda' off the mark, at least everyone is talking. For the record, Kevin has made me NOT want to eat meat anymore after asking me if I was vegan. Damn you Kevin! I think I might try more veggies. Now, I feel guilty. |

You know I was thinking it'd be a good idea for Juvenile Detention centers, especially.
|
We did some horticulture therapy when I worked in adolescent psych, when the length of stay was 3-6 months instead of 2 weeks. It was fun, kids enjoyed it and got a lot out of it too.
|
That's what I was thinking - I've never known a kid to not like gardening, for whatever reason. Especially teenagers. I mean, when I was a teen I wouldn't make time for gardening but if I was bored and it was there I would totally do it (and enjoy it, too).
Plus, I'm hard-pressed to think of something more satisfying than eating a salad made from vegetables that I grew myself. This makes me sad and wish I had a yard. |
