Yeah I'm with everyone on "Twilight" and to add to that, I've never seen any of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies...don't want to, don't care to (and I have a friend who is OBSESSED with both, and thinks I'm just plain weird that I haven't seen or read them and don't care to either).
I CAN'T stand smoking...the smell of it is disgusting, almost makes me sick. I don't like salad dressings. To me, its supposed to be a healthy thing to have a salad to eat, right? Well, when you put salad dressings on a salad, it turns it unhealthy (in my opinion). |

Freebirds. It's just nothing special to me.
|
Yogurt-- I've tried every flavor, and I've actually tried to make myself like it. I'm also not big on beer or coffee.
ETA: Any and all seafood. It's just gross. It smells horrible. Oh, and I hate those really snobby people who think they are so awesome because they eat sushi. You're not that cool, trust me. |
You can flame away:
*The Blue Collar comedy people (Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White). Not funny. *Friends & Seinfeld. I just don't think they're that great. My friends can watch them all day long. I can count the number of times I've sat down and watched it on one hand (usually with someone else who was hogging the TV). *Brad Pitt. Everybody loves him. *Survivor, Big Brother, The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Yes I like reality TV, but I cannot get into these. *American Idol. I am the only person in the world who has NEVER watched it. *Baseball. I hate it. It's boring. Sorry Indians fans! *Diet phenomena such as South Beach, Atkins, etc. Seriously. Just stop eating half the CRAP you eat and get off of your butt and you'll lose weight. No need to invest in dumb diet food. *Mary Kay products. No thank you. *Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, you know, the romantic movies that evvvverybody loves. *DAN BROWN books. Just not into them. No, reading Dan Brown doesn't make you intellectual/smart/cool. |

Add mayo to my list. I HATE IT! In fact, anything white and creamy is pretty much off my list, including: Ranch, Alfredo sauce, any white creamy sauce.. ick. Unless it's sweet, like whipped cream :) |
*Ketchup. It's gross. Really.
*Fish. I'm sorry. I hate it. *Anything cherry or cherry flavored. *Popsicles. Nasty. *Camping and the outdoors. I'm more of an indoor girl. I fully accept that. Unless we're going to the beach. *KISS FM and 99% of the songs they play. *NASCAR. Stupid. *OJ with pulp. Again, why? It's gross. *All things Star Wars. Nothing about it interests me. *Anime. Stupid and boring. Unless you're a kid, then you get a pass. *Heavy metal. Can't listen to it. *Collard greens, candied yams, and most soul food. I'll hand in my Black card now. |
-Mayo...just smells gross.
-Mustard -Beans (I like green/yellow beans...but pinto, lima, kidney beans, etc...I don't like them) -I too hate Seinfeld...not all that funny -Radio stations...I have a CD player in my truck, and I always listen to that rather than the radio since you never know what is being played there |
y'all are picky!! :p
|
KSUViolet, is there anything you actually like? :D
|
Foods I've tried and hated, but everyone else around me seems to love:
- Almost all legumes. It's the texture - I'll eat hummus dip, but not whole chickpeas. - Nuts. - Pizza with any form of pork topping. I no longer eat pork for religious reasons, but even when I was willing to eat pork, I had a thing about pepperoni or bacon on pizza - too much fat. - Corned beef and cabbage. My parents forced me to eat this every St. Patrick's Day when I was growing up. It tasted like someone had taken a roll of Saran Wrap and boiled it in a pot of salty water. DH loves corned beef, but to this day I can't stand the stuff - too many negative memories. - Pickles. Blecch. Other things I've tried and hated: - Country and jazz music. - Cheesy romance novels and movies. Just because I'm female, I'm apparently supposed to like that drivel. Give me good sci-fi any day. - Tequila, unless it's in a margarita. |
Coffee is disgusting to me. No matter how hard I try and no matter how 'little you can taste the coffee,' it's still disgusting. Oh well.
Chipotle also doesn't live up to its name to me. |

But the list of foods I hate is a long one, lol. To continue: *Caramel. Yuck. *Cornbread. *American cheese. People put it on stuff all the time and it's horrible. |

I'll eat pretty much anything, and I'll try pretty much anything. I've found that some of the best meals can be found at dives, on the street, or in hole in the wall places. There's something to be said for 4-star restaurants, but there's also something to be said about the local places where people can flat out cook. |
Wow - Dreamseeker and KSigkid are right - y'all are picky! It takes too much work to be that picky.
I'm thankful that my parents raised me to try something before claiming not to like it. I've met so many people who will say they don't like something when they've never even tried it. (Aside: This is something I refuse to let my kids get away with. If they haven't tried something, I won't let them tell me they don't like it. And they pretty much have to take one bite of everything on their plates. Mean Mommy, I know. But looking at this sampling of ultrapicky GCers, I'm reassured that I'm doing the right thing!) Having said that, I don't much care for fish. I'll eat it if there aren't any other options, but I'll always eat something else if given the choice. Oh, and I don't like Horseradish. |

Reliably, there are three things I absolutely can't stand: coffee (or anything with coffee flavoring), any salad dressing besides one specific brand of caeser, and legumes. |
I am amazed by the number of people that are down on beer. Wow!
My list of dislikes includes: Turkey - I eat my required 2oz each Thanksgiving, but that's it. Mayo - noting about oil and raw egg is appealing. Bone-in meats - I get the creeps when having to eat around a bone. Beans - Just don't care for them but I'll eat them if I can't pick them out of a dish. |

I think that made me a lot more open-minded about food as a teenager and adult. |

I really dont think we could be friends IRL. Im seriously wondering what you actually eat on a daily basis. I imagine youre an all-American type diet - burgers, fries, chicken fingers, nothing that rocks the boat too much (except your burger has no cheese or ketchup, and your chicken finger would have to be grilled?). Can we start a thread called "Things KSUViolet Doesn't Find Yucky or Gross?" It has very low potential of train wreckage, i'm sure. |
OH! KSU reminded me - the way she feels about Sleepless in Seattle is how i feel about Love Jones.
I dont hate the movie, it was just nothing to be in love with. I think its because i watched it years after it came out, so i knew all the "black romantic comedy" cliches and just sat there like "ok..." |

I'll try anything once. To be fair, everything I hate is something I've tried to like, lol. I just can't. In regards to what I eat: Alot of people in this thread don't care for Thai or Chinese, and I like it alot. Same with Mexican. Love all veggies. Most meat (as long as it's not cold cuts or fish). Love pizza. I also surprisingly like crab and lobster even though I don't like fish. I also enjoy the Lakers, the Roots, and long walks on the beach, lol. |

Didn't mean to insinuate that you (or anyone else in this thread) didn't try things before claiming not to like it. That was just a general comment/pet-peeve-statement type of thing. |
As far as foods, I'm one of those people who love to try new foods and I'm all about ethnic restaurants. However, I had a boyfriend years ago from Australia who LOVED vegemite. So I'm all in - I love everything right? Man oh man, I can't even describe how foul vegemite is. It's made from yeast extract which in itself sounds disgusting, and I've since found out I'm allergic to yeast. So I guess there's no heartbreak that I won't be having vegemite ever again.
Thankfully I was raised by parents who said we didn't have to clean our plate, didn't have to like anything, but we did have to try and under no circumstance were we allowed to make faces or comments about anything anyone else was eating. It's the "ooooh, you're going to eat THAT?" that is just not cool. I also don't get it about country music and techno. ESPECIALLY techno. I mean, maybe if you're in a bar because you can dance without thinking about the tempo of the music (since it's all the same) but why on earth would anyone actually BUY a techno CD? And seriously, why 2? They're all the same song! |

Stepping out a bit, there are certain articles of clothing that don't appeal to me...will get to that later. |
[QUOTE=MidwayManiac;1848840]Guinness Stout. English room-temperature lagers. Even the darker Sam Adams. I like my beer cold and light-colored, despite how many times people tell me the aforementioned items have more "taste".[quote]Funny enough, Guiness Stout was the first beer I ever tasted. I was 16 at a pub in Edinburgh. When I got back to the states and tried my first American beer, it just seemed so weak and watery, lol.

Tomatoes (tomato sauce is fine, plain old tomatoes -- blech)These things really make my wife question my sanity. |
^^ I'm with your wife on this one. You don't like chocolate cake/ice cream? Or peaches and watermelons? What do you have against sweet, yummy food?
|
To add to things I don't like:
*That white gravy with sausage and biscuits that people eat for breakfast. Not a fan. *Potato salad. *Liver and other organ meats. *Hard candy (i.e. Lifesavers, lollipops, etc.) As a kid, I would pick all this stuff out of my Halloween bag and give it to my brothers. *Jet Li movies. |

Must be the Americanized stuff...LOL My list: Cake (I really only like German Chocolate cake) new balance shoes (only found 1 comfortable pair in life) mayonnaise coffee (altho for some reason I like frozen ice cream flavored coffee) |

I have a similar problem with texture. Anything goopy, lumpy, mushy, slimy or rubbery makes me gag. All these years I thought it was a taste issue but I also have issues touching certain things with my hands, like food garbage, wet cat food, touching newspaper or ripped cardboard, foods like bananas, mushrooms... I had never heard of texture aversion until a few years ago and feel like a freak for it, but I have read that there are many people who have this type of situation. |

Brussell sprouts. Coffee (HUGE headache). Sushi. Most fish. Raw oysters. Kenny G. Mariah Carey. Harlequin novels. Gossip Girls. Family Man. Any and all soap operas. |
I'm not a fan of chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream either. And yes, I've been called a communist more than once because of it.
It's good to not like something that's #1 not good for you and #2 totally addictive, right? I've known a lot of people who were simply not getting through the day without chocolate! I don't like the idea of being beholden to anything like that. I'm also no longer addicted to caffeine for pretty much that reason. However, I am allergic to dairy (the list of foods I'm allergic to is WAY too long to list here), but I just have to have ice cream once in a great while. Of course, I'm doubled over in pain shortly thereafter, so it REALLY has to be a moment of weakness. But it happens. Lowfat helps. |
Just thought of something else:
*Flavored water (VitaminWater or Propel or whatever). You can't be water and juice at the same time, please choose one. |
Tatoos. Huge turn-off for me.
Homemade tatoos. Makes me really uncomfortable. Pierced eyebrows. Peas. |
