Lane swerve, but is a 3.2 GPA really that high? I mean... it's a B average. I suppose it depends on what school you go to... It's above the minimum for my organization but just barely...

BTW this is a serious question - I'm not really trying to burn the OP I seriously want to know what people's thoughts on scholarship are.

Senusret I 08-13-2009 08:20 AM

I consider it a respectable GPA..... this is an ENTIRELY different topic, but I do believe people of color attending certain colleges will have a harder time gaining a high GPA for several reasons:

1) Inadequate preparation from under-resourced schools.
2) Lingering institutional racism (and/or sexism for the women of color) from various schools and departments.
3) Joining a lot of clubs which promote race unity and instill an obligation of participation -- basically doing things you feel you NEED to do rather than things that will help you academically

All three of those factors affected my GPA at some point in my college career. Not saying that it's the same for everyone, but it would have been fine at my school.

Fair enough, thank you very much. :)

DrPhil 08-13-2009 09:24 AM

She's still preaching to us. :) It's always funny when aspirants know so little and suddenly know so much when their question isn't answered. :)

That's the formula for the Eternal Aspirant. With God, THAT is always possible. :)

Plus the OP has a baby and may be a single mother.

1) I wonder why the National HQ FAQ didn't touch on that. :) 2) I wonder why there is no chapter that she has interacted with so that she could figured this stuff out. If she hadn't been so lazy with her OP and had thought about 1) and 2), we would not be here now. :)

It's "a part," not "apart." They have opposite meanings.

Although if you show the Deltas you actually know anything approaching the attitude you've shown here, I have no doubt that your dreams of being apart from Delta will be realized.

i'd expect that someone with a 3.2 gpa would be smarter than this. :p

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 01:49 PM

I really do enjoy reading getting everyones feedback here on GC..I knew posting the very first thread that I would receive alot of criticisms some constructive, some not so much, AGAIN I did NOT call anyone out on here about NOT being a DELTA, I said SOME on here were questionable because this is the Internet and until we meet face to face, I will not assume that EVERYONE on GC claiming to be a DELTA is in fact a DELTA, but I will respect them. And about me being on here at 3 a.m it's because nothing comes to a SLEEPER but a DREAM:) I type in caps to make myself clear, because it seems as though some people cant understand me when the caps are off.. I have so much respect for the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta and like I said this is no way shape or form intended to disrespect ANYONE...I read "A Torch to Guide You" way before I signed up for GC and the question had nothing to do with intake, it was just a question about my situation, I didnt ask about what to wear or not to wear or who should I talk to because I've been through that already, and further more I've done my research, im not saying I know everything there is ALWAYS more to be learned but no one can assume what the next person knows or doesn't know..and a 3.2 gpa at my school is VERY good..Im not arrogant like I said with GOD all things are POSSIBLE, and I am a VERY firm believer that what is for YOU, is for YOU! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 01:51 PM

Dreamseeker the proof is in the transcripts:) MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

Im not saying that Im going to become a DELTA tomorrow but I do know that if I strive for excellence I will eventually achieve it, and with GOD on my side I can do ANYTHING:) also the title of this post is??? you catch my drift... MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

which brings us right back to my original response. What a waste of bandwidth this has become.

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 02:02 PM

Thanks again ladygreek for the first response you gave me:) but I guess my real question was, were there any rules that forbids it, now that I know that there aren't im excited to continue my journey...MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL

dreamseeker 08-13-2009 02:07 PM

From A Torch to Guide You:

Housekeeping Items

There will be no more discussion of anything remotely related to membership on this message board. If you don't get what you need to know from the National website, chapter website or Deltas you know personally, don't look for information here.

Lol, i'm done. You clearly didn't read it. *looks at imaginary watch* it'd be in ur best interest to flounce now. lol.

[/swerve]

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 02:10 PM

In the end my question was STILL answered, WITH or WITHOUT advice for GC:) MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.....

DrPhil 08-13-2009 02:45 PM

God answered your question despite how you tried to go around God and ask GC.

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 02:54 PM

I see that you didnt read the post where I stated my friend that is a DELTA answered the question, only came here first to get any opinions before I asked:) MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

DST4A00 08-13-2009 03:00 PM

you know, I've always wondered what happened to all the other "HOPEFULs" we've had on here? They too get pissed when their questions aren't answered to their satisfaction. They too claim that they'll make it despite the rejected answers. Then we never hear from them. Have any of them made it? Do they come back and introduce themselves? Do they remind us of who they were? Do they understand now why we didn't answer?

Will you be the first one to return and let us know how it turned out? I hope so.

so u came to a website of random strangers and perps (according to you) to get an opinion that wouldn't matter since a "real Delta" was supposedly going to tell you?

that makes sense.

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 03:11 PM

Please dont forget that you in fact were "hopefuls" too BEFORE you became apart of your dear sorority:) Maybe there are more out there who've made it but choose to be MORE involved in their community and not whats going on in GC...and please dont think that anything said on here I take to heart, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger:) MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

DrPhil 08-13-2009 03:11 PM

OMG she talked to a Delta in real life?

Thank God that we pushed you to use the resources that God gave you.

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 03:15 PM

And dreamseeker your still going on about a question that has already been answered, you most want this thread to keep going right? MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL....

PreciousDiva88 08-13-2009 03:18 PM

I have a membership related question for the "Fake Deltas" on GC:

If an aspirant types "Delta" in CAPS every time, does that help them toward their aspiration?

MAY YOU BE TOUCHED BY THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER'S NOODLEY APPENDAGE.

Darlin, you just need to change your name and your question to HOPELESS! Because that is what you ARE and that's what your question has become!

If you didn't get your answer the first, second, or third time that you asked, YOU, yes YOU, should have...STOPPED ASKING!!!! What wasn't made P-E-R-F-E-C-T-L-Y...C-L-E-A-R to you the first time? Your answer? Oh well, too bad, learn the lesson and move on!

As far as thinking that someone is a perp who has/is giving you answers to YOUR questions, you are OUTTA your UTTER AND COMPLETE MIND (or what you lack in showing)! I know for the last 14 years there is NO WAY that I could have "perped" DST! Chickie are you blind, deaf, and dumb, or just all three? Just because you have a 3.2 GPA, doesn't mean that you have (or what appears to be a lack of) common sense. With your LACK of common sense, you are just...lost and HOPELESS!

Then you have the fabu comeback of "Please dont forget that you in fact were "hopefuls" too BEFORE you became apart of your dear sorority." My question to you is "who are you again," and oh yes the response is, "someone who wants DST but...the VOTE isn't in yet." O.k. moving on!

And your last retort of "...please dont think that anything said on here I take to heart, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger," says something very interesting about you. Your nose must really be outta joint outta what these "perps" have said in response to YOU, yes, YOU! It apparently SHOWS that you are "take(ing) things to heart" because YOU, yes, YOU keep coming back to "clear up" any misunderstandings and missed meanings.

My advice to you, leave it alont! Let it be! On this on my young Jedi, the FORCE IS NOT with YOU!:D

I wish that a Grammar book would chase you around campus so it would make you stronger. *grrr*

You aren't the first hopeful to get out of pocket with members, and you won't be the last. But will you really transition from hopeful to active member? No idea, but if I were you, I'd take my own advice before pursuing Delta and "choose to be more involved in [the] community and not what's going on in GC". All this time checking in and out of GC is not benefiting you at all.

That is all. :p

DrPhil 08-13-2009 11:55 PM

I haven't read past this post yet so I'm assuming that at some point, someone told her to shut up. If not, I'll say it: SHUT UP!

You have absolutely no business questioning any of MY sorors. You put me in wreck mode and I don't like you.

I KNOW you didn't talk face-to-face with my soror and tell her that you WILL BE A DELTA so stop with all of this. You're lame.

Indeed, I was. I was a "hopeful" on GC before I pledged my sorority in 2002. The sorors here can tell you that I never questioned their membership and posted recklessly because this was always a place to chat and not have my membership questions answered. I handled life as a student and aspirant offline and you should to, jerk.

I hate that whole "don't forget you once were in my shoes..." crap. Sell those wooden nickels elsewhere because there is no excuse for acting like a jerk on GC.
