Both MSNBC and CNN are saying it's a confirmed death. :(

cheerfulgreek 06-25-2009 06:37 PM

I'm watching NBC News. They confirmed it.

Proverbs31 06-25-2009 06:38 PM

My heart. Lord. :(

again, CNN has not confirmed his death.......yet

rhoyaltempest 06-25-2009 06:39 PM

Nevermind...death not confirmed by CNN but by other sources. How hard can it be to find out if someone is dead or not when you're CNN? Geesh.

yar 06-25-2009 06:43 PM

This is why the Main Stream Media is obsolete.

I would assume that CNN is trying to get it "straight from the horses mouth" or as close to it as possible, instead of a "family friend."

sunnyhibiscus 06-25-2009 06:44 PM

Like 62, 50 is way too young. I was singing Black or White last night.:(

groovypq 06-25-2009 06:48 PM

The Associated Press is confirming it, and they don't run with stuff lightly.

"A person with knowledge of the situation says Jackson died Thursday in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity."

WinniBug 06-25-2009 06:55 PM

Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News reported it as well

Sooo crazy!!!

knight_shadow 06-25-2009 06:57 PM

I guess there's no denying it now.

Unbelievable.

RIP Michael.

epchick 06-25-2009 06:57 PM

CNN keeps playing MJ's music videos but they have yet to confirm the death yet.

texas*princess 06-25-2009 06:57 PM

i can't believe it... so crazy.

KSUViolet06 06-25-2009 06:59 PM

I guess there's no denying it.

Totally sad now.

I'm cranking the "Greatest Hits" right now.

RIP MJ.

Kevlar281 06-25-2009 06:59 PM

So apparently there is a fraternity house across the street from the medical center that is blasting Michael Jackson's music.

Little32 06-25-2009 07:02 PM

Wow. This is unexpected. RIP

Can't believe all of the changed facebook statuses. Refuse to do it, but if I did it would say "If they say why? Why? Tell them that it's human nature.

I heard that on CNN.

PeppyGPhiB 06-25-2009 07:02 PM

Bad things happen in threes. Some people may count Ed, but Ed died earlier this week. I'm hoping Patrick Swayze is hangin' in there! =(

I'm not saying that its not true...i believe that when all these places confirm it, it's true. But i'm waiting for CNN to confirm it before i'll let it sink it (if it ever does...i wasn't a fan of his).

That's what my Dad said when I told him. He said, "There's number three.... and what a number three!"

RIP MJ

I get CNN's news alerts and they e-mailed at 5:32 reporting him dead. (although they did say according to multiple sources.)

Ya, there are several right by the med center. The closest would be Theta Chi, SAE, Delta Tau Delta, Theta Xi, and Phi Psi

My mom said the same thing! Geez.

knight_shadow 06-25-2009 07:14 PM

The radio stations are rotating his hits right now. I was doing fine until they started playing "Man In The Mirror" -- Had to turn it off.

Sigh.

PeppyGPhiB 06-25-2009 07:19 PM

Local Top 40 station is playing Michael, then a song from today, then Michael, and so on. Station is telling the kids texting in that they should listen to his music, then listen to the next song and appreciate how much he contributed to the music community.

Smooth Criminal is on now. Love this song.

twinkle555 06-25-2009 07:19 PM

So sad..MJ was an amazing performer :( RIP

KSUViolet06 06-25-2009 07:19 PM

I was trying to wait for CNN to confirm like an hour ago, but to be honest, the LA Times is credible enough for me at this point.

The station I just turned on is doing the same thing.

I'm glad that I was able to experience his talent, and I hope younger audiences realize how much he's contributed.

DaemonSeid 06-25-2009 07:24 PM

You know...I would have just assumed that Walter Cronkite would have been the one passing....

I am not joking CG..when you think of all the stuff out there that is by him....ebay sellers will have a field day.

KSUViolet06 06-25-2009 07:26 PM

My brother and I were OBSESSED with the Moonwalker movie back in the day. Seriously.

knight_shadow 06-25-2009 07:26 PM

^^^ Who wasn't, though? ;)

ETA: MTV is playing a cycle of his videos. Check it out.

They're playing "Bad" right now -- so many memories...

Someone in front of my house is blasting Thriller from their car. The block is gonna be a mess tonight.

WCsweet<3 06-25-2009 07:40 PM

I was in chem lab and someone was texted. No one believed it until the teacher pulled it up on her computer.

All his dancing! step cross kick, pivot right, moon walk 234, triple spin, pose on tips of toes... Sigh.

a.e.B.O.T. 06-25-2009 07:40 PM

Jordan Chandler will sleep well tonight

kddani 06-25-2009 08:03 PM

I feel for his kids. They've already had such a screwed up life. Hopefully they'll have more of a shot of normalcy.

cheerfulgreek 06-25-2009 08:07 PM

It's still not sinking in for me. It just takes me back to the way I felt when Princess Diana passed. It's like I want to wake up from a bad dream.
