I'm assuming cause the pageant is in Florida, and it seems really small.

Hahaha I agree, I wouldn't do a pageant with my mom. Yikes, *shudders*. I am really sad that Kendall & Rhonda didn't win, they seemed so genuine, & I loved their WOW wear.

The other mother--the one that got lip injections, was sooo much more into it than her daughter. I missed the beginning, does she even work? Cause they seem to be doing really well for a military family. $5,000 dress for the mom from Kane (from Project Runway), new dress for the daughter, lip injections...that adds up.

Honeykiss1974 03-16-2009 10:41 AM

/\/\ I was wondering how they afforded it as well. And "lippy mom" was obviously trying to live her dreams through her daughter - she was freaking me out as well.

Well, I finally got the chance to catch an episode of T&T during the Miss Georgia Spirit pageant. I was glad to see that with the exception of one, they kept the make-up to a minimun (maybe some glass on the lips) and they had more simple dresses as opposed to the awful sequin-filled crap that the LMP contestants were. I really liked the girl that won (not the made-up girl that won at the pageant, but the one in the blue dress that won a few days later).

And don't get me started on why the babies are even in it (looking like bootlegged versions of those Annes Geddes pictures). Aside from your basic "cutest baby" photo contest, pageants for babies is a little ridiculous IMO.

If her husband is commissioned, and they make a commitment not to have any unnecessary debt, then they would probably do pretty well; I grew up next to a military base where there were a lot of stay-at-home mothers even among the enlisted crowd.

Since Toddlers & Tieras is not on any longer, what is the other show? and when is it?

I love the train wreck that is this show!

There's a new T&T episode tonight.

And the other show is on Wednesday nights on WE and it's called Little Miss Perfect.

*It's SO weird how different they look when all made up vs. when taking photos or doing a pageant. I look at them, and they look like they're MY age when fully made up. It's so bizzare.

*Emily seems like one of those kids who has been doing something for so long that they're like, programmed and going through the motions. It's like what she says is like scripted or something. Like a robot.

*Jordan seems like she actually likes pageants, probably because her mom lets her make up her own routines and pick her outfits, instead of telling her what she's going to do.

*LOL @the mom trying to hide her kid's prop from other mom. It's like the Cold War or something. And lol at the judge's reaction to it.

Honeykiss1974 03-25-2009 08:50 PM

Ok, I'm watching the re-run of the mother/daughter pageant and I never noticed until today that Alex'a mom (the military wife) is a real bag. I mean, she was barking orders at her daughter under her breathe while they were on stage doing the interview. Good grief lady could you save for criticism until after they got off stage?

She definitely wants this way more than her daughter.

KSUViolet06 03-25-2009 08:55 PM

Toddlers and Tiaras was on last night:

What's with the family who has 3 girls doing pageants? And they flat out admit that they can't really afford to do them. Seriously?

And the single mom who lives with HER MOM (she has the little 2 year old)? Grandma said that she could either help her daughter with rent OR she could help with pageants (and have daughter and granddaughter move in). So daughter chose to move in with mom. Wow.

MaggieXi 03-26-2009 11:34 AM

Last night was the first time I watched "Little Miss Perfect". I watched the 2 episodes back to back and was a little confused - are the pagents always in Charlotte? And it looked like Jordan and Emily (9pm rerun) were in the same pagent as Amber and Sabrina (10pm new show)?

And whats with the chat board where you get to diss the other girls in the pagents? Thats healthy.

No, in the previous episodes the pageant was in FL. I don't know if they moved it or it's just another branch.

Emily has been in another tv show about pageants (was it original Toddlers and Tiara's) but when she was a little younger. I remember the mom and the grandma.

I felt bad for Amber cause the mom and sisters kept talking about how she just wasn't good enough and the 2 sisters were better, yada yada yada.

LeslieAGD 03-26-2009 04:41 PM

Maggie, ususally the pagents on LMP are in Florida...or at least there were three that were. I didn't think either girl was great last night, so I was actually glad neither one won.

KSUViolet06 03-26-2009 05:01 PM

I'm sorry, but I thought it was SO sad when the one little girl's mom is watching another girl on stage and says "Wow, she's about as little miss perfect as you can get!" The look on her daughter's face was like "Gee thanks mom."

LeslieAGD 03-26-2009 08:59 PM

Oh, and what's this business about a "green board" where people were bashing other little girls? That just seemed ridiculous.

LΩVE 03-28-2009 12:08 PM

Does anyone else predict eating disorders, body image issues, and emotional damage down the road? Not all cute little girls grow up to be pretty women.

Hoodini 03-28-2009 08:53 PM

Yup...i said somewhere, most of these mothers are like wut Joe Jackson was to Michael Jackson...bless their hearts tho

You can say that again. Look at these mothers. The majority are grossly overweight with stringy unkempt hair. I feel so bad that this is what those girls may have to look forward to when they grow up.

RU OX Alum 03-29-2009 11:07 PM

I was watching one of these shows with a (female) friend, and one little girl was crying becuase she didn't want to be in the pagent anymore and her mom threatened to spank her if she didint' stop crying

that is beyond f**ked up

So excited that the new season of T&T starts tomorrow night!!! :D
I bet TLC is releasing this season early since J&K is on hiatus.

AOII_LB93 07-22-2009 05:32 PM

I saw the previews for this with my husband. He just turned, looked at me and said, "What the f*ck is wrong with parents, really?"

I've not ever seen the show, but it looks like a train wreck.

BabyPiNK_FL 07-22-2009 10:10 PM

Why would a two week old compete in a pageant? He has no talent and no personality! On top of it all, he's not even cute! I can't stand when babies are born with a mini "adult" nose!

Also, spending $65,0000 on a little girl to be in pageants?! I've never had a dress that cost over $300! Let alone $3,600! She better pray she can win back all that money she's spending!
ETA: That girl won pretty much everything, Mommy knows best.

Sister Havana 07-23-2009 12:36 AM

The woman entering her NEWBORN in a pageant really bothered me.

KSUViolet06 07-23-2009 04:17 PM

Late in the game on this (just caught up with my DVR last night):

*A 2 week old baby? Seriously? I love how the judge was like "I'm looking for a contestant with lots of personality and energy." What kind of personality and energy does a 2 week old baby have? Um, none.

*I felt so badly for the little blonde girl who had to take all of those photos while she was really sick. Boo.

*I thought it was a little unfair that Mom kept going on and on about how the one twin was so much better at pageants.

*I get the feeling that one of those twins doesn't really like pageants at all, but MOM wants BOTH of them to be in it.

*I was so glad that Pageant Dad didn't let that other twin finish the pageant. I mean, if your kid is behaving like that, it is obvious that they just don't want to do it.

*I did think it was cute that the one twin was so happy just to get a small crown and a runner-up award. So many of these kids are only happy when they get the highest title.

Kappamd 07-23-2009 09:47 PM

I wanted to smack the bratty twin (the one the father took out) at the end. Her sister was SO happy to get the Director's Choice award, and the evil sister kept going on about how "she won." Shuuuuuuut up!

amy25la 07-24-2009 02:33 AM

Has anyone else noticed how all of the mothers of these children are fat heffers.....they are all dressed in K-Mart garb while their kids are wearing 4500 dresses....and the kids are wearing more make-up then they are. What's up with that? I guess this is the only means of these women building their self esteem. I would like to have a few minutes alone with the mother who kept berating the one twin while singing the praises of the other....talk about making them hate each other as they get older....what a moron!

Me too! And I wanted to punch the mother for showing obvious favoritism to one child over the other.

srmom 07-24-2009 02:49 PM

I wanted to rescue that poor child from that horse faced mother!! Some of the comments she made were appalling -

Breeanna looks like me (meaning she's the pretty one - BAHAHAHA!) Shealynn (sp???) is skinny and her nose is too big. ALL SAID IN FRONT OF THE GIRLS!!

Then, berating her for ripping her dress, making the poor child burst out in tears, and then "forgetting" to repair it before the pageant??? She is like an evil character in a Disney movie!

Then, that sweet girl offering balloons that she'd won to the other girls, and then in the interview with her "EVIL TWIN", the girl says how proud of herself she is, and the other just keeps saying how her win was higher, 2nd runner up as opposed to 3rd, and when the sweet girl goes, "Uhuh!!" the evil twin says, "Yea so, Mommy told me!!" See? It's like a plot in a scary fairy tale!

Hopefully, the "Ugly Duckling" will grow up to be a swan and will hold it over the Evil mother and twin!! :D

KSUViolet06 07-29-2009 11:06 PM

*I do have to ask, how is your kid old enough to do a pageant when you have to do the routine with them in the audience so they can remember it?

* I think the 2 little girl's moms (the ones that were like 4 or 5 yrs old) were pretty normal, as opposed to previous week's moms. They weren't too heinous, pushy, critical, etc. Lots of "good job!" and "she did really well!" The one mom was just like "She's 4, she doesn't know she messed up, and I'm not going to tell her."

*I like that the little girl (Tyler) didn't KNOW she hadn't gotten the big title because her mom didn't make a huge deal about it.

*I think a puppy is a weird prize for a pageant. I mean, what if the parent doesn't WANT the kid to win it (because dogs are a big responsibility)?

*I think that older little girl was a bit of a brat. It's a little scary that she says (at 10 years old) "I love being perfect." It's really sad to see a kid that age that's not happy with anything other than the biggest title.

LeslieAGD 07-30-2009 01:25 PM

I think all the moms and daughters this week were the most well adjusted group that have been on the show. The moms were supportive and not pushy, and the daughters were happy and pretty well behaved. The "Tootie" girl was a little bratty, but not much compared to other kids that have been on the show.

KSUViolet06 08-05-2009 11:01 PM

*Holy overweight moms Batman.

*What's with overly-involved Dad? Weird. He and wife had a Will & Grace vibe going on.

*Why does your entire house have wood paneling a la That 70s Show, yet you spend thousands on pageants?

*Would you trust the judgment of a pageant director who looked like THAT?

*Holy skunk striped highlights Batman.

ETA:
Why does everything look like a shack in the towns where they live?
Why is she giving a child so much coffee? And excusing it by saying "I had coffee as a child." WELL LOOK AT YOU NOW!

Kappamd 10-21-2009 10:04 PM

Does anyone else still watch this? Because I am  at the girl who just said she got kicked out of a pageant because she kicked a judge in the chest when she lost.

Seriously.

And here I thought pageants were supposed to teach them "good sportsmanship?"

Last I heard, good sportsmanship does not = kicking people.

bostongreek 10-21-2009 11:22 PM

Samantha from tonight's episode was so incredibly adorable!

ree-Xi 10-21-2009 11:32 PM

Yes I still watch this :o.

I have to say, that mom that puts her daughter on a diet before every pageant is teaching her the binge & starve cycle. Pretty scary.

srmom 10-22-2009 11:53 AM

I'd say the mom would be better off putting herself on a diet - especially since she is "competing" against her daughter in the pageants....

Why are most of these moms morbidly obese???

aggieAXO 10-22-2009 01:24 PM

I was thinking the same thing about that mom. She is the one that needs to go on the diet and leave her poor daugher alone. I had never seen this show before and was just flipping through channels, not sure I will watch again as shows like this make me sad.

The mom's are absolutely ridiculous. The kids are adorable, when they aren't parading around onstage like a pedo's dream.

You can totally tell from the mom's it's a case of not being pretty enough/skinny enough/talented enough/young enough/adorable enough/coordinated enough for THEM to have done pageants, so they have to live out the fantasy with the kids.

Charlie was hilarious. When your kidlet is crying about everything pageant and calling you names, maybe it's time to bow out for a bit and just run around the playground instead of dropping your child off the equipment in an effort to secure a "cute" photo.

I prefer watching King of the Crown because the girls are older. Some of the mom's are just as scary, but I love the snark that Cyrus brings.

LOVE Cyrus!

KSUViolet06 10-24-2009 09:08 PM

Why do some of these parents insist on their kid SINGING as their talent when they sound awful?

I have yet to hear a kid sing during a pageant whose voice didn't sound like a dying animal.

Kappamd 01-20-2010 10:59 PM

Toddlers and Tiaras is back tonight at 10 EST on TLC.

So, in like 1 minute, lol.
